I've been a fan of the Bioware games for a while.  Most recently I've been hooked by Dragon Age, DA2, Mass Effect & ME2.

I just bought this game for the PC this week, but I haven't opened it yet.  I was really excited to play it on my HTPC, on my couch, with my flatscreen TV, 7.1 surround sound and trusty Xbox 360 for Windows wireless controller.  I just assumed it would have proper PC controller support since it was released simultaneously on all platforms. Then I found this thread.

I am returning this game next week.  This is stupid.  I love playing PC games on my TV, on my couch.  Yes I can play with mouse & keyboard, but not in my living room.

Bioware - you had people begging you for controller support in the PC version for Mass Effect 2, and you had people begging you for propper controler support in Mass Effect 3 more than 1 YEAR before it was released - and you, in your arrogance, felt that you "knew better" than your gaming audience and decided to exclude it.

I and others like me may be in the minority according to your market research people, but is it worth alienating a significant group of customers just to save a little time on development and QA?

For me it's back to good games with controller support like Bioshock 1/2, Fallout 3/New Vegas, Skyrim, Portal 2, Half Life 2, The Witcher 2, Batman Akram City/Asylum, Psychonauts, Limbo, etc.  You know, from game companies that actually care about and LISTEN to their audience.

There is a good reason people have demanded controller support in PC games - because the PC platform itself is evolving.  You, Bioware, apparently are not.

You lost a customer EA/Bioware.  I'm done with you.    This game is going back to Best Buy tomorrow.

Mouse and keyboard is better for shooting games anyway. Also, most game controllers I;ve purchased come with a program where each button can correspond with a key.

The xbox 360 for windows controller comes with software, but that's always a hack and never really works flawlessly.

Microsoft makes it really easy for developers to add "standard" controller support to PC games. Bioware chose not to utilize it.

In 2012 it's just inexcusable for them not to include it. Especially when so many other prominent developers support it so well. And this game is available for PS3 & Xbox 360! Why couldn't they have kept the Xbox 360 support in the game for the PC version?! It's just arrogance, plain and simple. They think they know better.

They will because I haven't opened the shrink wrap packaging yet and I have the receipt. EA will not be getting my money.

-get an xbox version
-get wireless m&k

Problem solved. Willingly wanting to play a shooter game with a controller is questionable at best. I dont see why Bioware should even bother tbh.

I'd like controller support for PC for 2 reasons: comfort and movement. Comfort because then I can sit back, leaning in my chair, rather than perched forward. Movement refers to analog stick movement to control your character. That's ALWAYS more natural on a a controller. On the PC, Shepard, especially unarmed, moves a little unnatural. That's what you get with 4 measures of movement input (WASD) as opposed to the analog stick's 360 degree movement (ok, there will be deadzones, but it's not noticable during casual play)

Beyond that, the games are better on PC. Higher textures. Mods. Finer aiming (which can save your ass with the tougher enemies, especially on multiplayer - hard to imagine consistent ''mail shots'' on a controller) Though I have framerate issues with the first one for some reason. The other 2 less so.

Don't have an xbox.  Don't want an xbox.  My HTPC plays games better with higher resolution textures, 8x FSAA and at higher framrates than an Xbox is capable of.  Plus with things like Steam & Origin I don't need to swap out discs.

-get wireless m&k

Got that, and no thanks.  I'm on my nice and comfy couch.  Nowhere to comfortably use a mouse, and I wouldn't want to.  If I wanted that I'd sit at my desk and play it there.  No I want to play on my 46" TV with 7.1 surround sound, sitting on a couch with a beer and my  wireless PC controller.

Right, bioware should not provide gamers with a choice in control schemes.  We should all play the game using the control method they specify.  While they're at it, they might as well remove the ability to remap keys, because really they know best.  Anything that deviates from their vision of how people who pay them money should play their game is inferior.

Also, while I agree that KB+Mouse has advantages for shooters, calling anything else "questionable" is silly.  Tell that to every other PS3 and Xbox gamer out there who uses dual stick controllers.

What you're complaining about makes like zero sense.
