I can't say I understand all the anger and frustration towards you at this time; however...
Allow me to express a market share you may or may not be alert to.
I am married and I am nearly 40. I have two teens who are not allowed to play games we do not approve. My wife and I prefer RPG's.
I enjoyed NWN1 (and all the expansions and many, many community mods (and I still play it when time allows)), so I bought DA and was rewarded for my choice.
I enjoyed DA (and all the dlc), so I bought DA2 when it came out and was disappointed. DA2 felt like a third rate NWN community mod. Had DA2's release order been switched with DA - the quality of DA would have been hailed as an epic advancement in every catagory over DA2.
I was so disappointed by DA2 that I delayed on getting ME until it was available at Game Stop second hand.
I enjoyed my second hand ME so much that I went back to Game Stop and got the ME Platinum Edition.
I enjoyed the ME experience so much I bought ME2, but still feeling burned by DA2 - I waited to get it second hand from Game Stop. I then ordered all the dlc's for ME2... got over 75 hours of fantastic play.
I was so happy with ME2 that I gave up my frustration over DA2 and ordered the Collector's ME3 on faith... I enjoyed ME2 so much that my wife was excited for me when ME3 was released. She suggested that I go to the release party. I did not really want to, but for the first time in my life, I stood in a release line to make sure that Game Stop did not 'accidently' sell my copy before I arrived to pick it up. It was not as bad as I expected. I was lucky enough to win a ME3 lanyard; much to the envy of both my teens.
I hate waiting.
I hate crowds.
I was sure ME3 would be fantastic and the blight of DA2 - with its rushed production and chopped story/quest progression was a thing of the past.
Honestly, at this moment I am only about a third to half the way through the game and I have to say it is a great game as a stand alone, but I feel it falls short of ME and ME2 already. I am going to play it through with all my Shep's because I want to experience the full journey of each of them.
Sadly, the further I move into ME3 the more it feels like an excercise of completion instead of an exploration of a storyline.
You burnt me once with DA2... Shame on you.
If you have burnt me twice ... this time with ME3... it will be shame on me.
The question now is whether the failures of ME3 will be repaired before I complete it. Will I find the resolution worthy of all my invested hours? or of all my invested money?
I work full time. I go to college full time. I have a busy household. I will probibly take a few weeks perhaps even a few months to finish the game.
You have plenty of time.
But...
If I feel like the conclusion of this storyline is a disappointment...
If I feel that my enthusiasm was missplaced...
If I feel ashamed that I paid for a p1ss-poor premium pre-order...
I will not be back to complain. I will simply return to buying your products second hand and if you make some DRM that stops second hand usage - I will simply spend my down time watching Netflix.
The choice is yours Bioware/EA ... do you want my business?

Issue 2: Right now, OVER 50 THOUSAND have raised voice over your ending as disappointing/not right and demand a better one. That is just from 1 poll on your own forums. I am sure for every gamer that went through the effort of voicing themself on here, there is at least 2 more out there that haven't, probably more. We are talking about over one 10th of a million plus people who to certain degrees are disappointed/enraged/sad by the ending you gave them/
Nice overall post.
A poll with over 57K votes has predictive power even though detractors say it's a small, self-selecting, biased poll. As more and more people vote, the poll becomes less and less biased. At some point, it will start to reflect the entire population of of ME3 owners. When BioWare and the detractors admit this is yet to be seen. If almost 60K votes isn't enough, what will be enough? 80K? 200K? Or do we have to ask every man, woman, and child their opinion before any information can be inferred about the majority?
The poll has been remarkable consistent over time. The percentages have barely moved since it was created around the release date. This is important information. The backlash that is burning down the internet is coming from the people that have actually finished the game. What percentage of the customers have actually finished the game?
Another important piece of that poll is only 2% liked the ending as-is. I can't think of a lower number than 2%. Some people like to be contrarian yet no one here seems to be contrarian. Even if we assume the poll is incredibly biased, it is safe to say the 2% that liked the ending as-is can't grow too much when we consider the population as a whole. It certainly can't reverse itself to where 98% liked the ending as-is. In fact it would nearly impossible for even 50% of the entire population to like the ending as-is.
Let's be generous and assume the percentage of the entire ME3 that liked the ending as-is is 30%. If BioWare sold 1.85 million units as of March 12, that means 1.3 million customers won't like the ending. So, it's not 50,000 people, it's 1,300,000 people or 26 times the number reflected in the poll. So far.
The poll should not be looked at in isolation. One should also consider the forums, the user reviews, the news articles, the charity drive, the YouTube videos, and other sources I can't think of to help corroborarte the poll. Even anecdotal evidence like stories of word of mouth and stories of large numbers of used copies filling up GameStop selves should be considered.
I have found no evidence anywhere to suggest the majority of owners liked the ending.
Still, even though a majority didn't like the ending, the question remains as to what they plan to do about it. How much influence does this group have and what will they purchase? Will they suggest to others not to buy ME3? Will they buy a new ending DLC? Will they the still purchase BioWare products like future games and DLCs? I don't know. Someone at BioWare/EA has to do the cost/benefit analysis.
What I do is the poll has predictive power about the population of ME3 owners. We are not talking about 50K people. We are talking about over a million. So far.

Less auto-dialogue for Shepard in future DLC. Its not a huge issue since we still make choices where they count the most but still I liked saying whatever I wanted to the other characters.

It isn't OK. Now that the problem has been identified (Bioware and Casey going full retard) we know what needs to be done to fix it. STOP IT. Just...stop it.
Fix this thing.

But now, the endings. To be honest, I did read the leaked script six months ago when it was floating around the internet. I knew what to expect. The leaked script was accurate for most of the game, if not better than what actually happened. I spent months with others trying to understand and grasp what the leak said, but the endings really did look as empty as they do in-game. I was sad, but I prepared myself for the worst. Seeing the ending in-game was much different than reading it on a piece of paper. It was worse. It felt like a kick in the stomach. I felt physically sick, and I'm not the only person to say that.
Maybe I'm a little dramatic. Maybe. Mass Effect was one of the greatest things in my life. Ever since I picked up the game, Mass Effect was quite literally the only thing on my mind. Mass Effect 3 was the only game I have looked forward to since I finished Mass Effect 2. So to have the ending like this? It felt horrible, to be honest. It forces you into an overall sad (in my opinion) situation, no matter what you had done over all three games. The endings are similar, and you are given no way to prevent the bad things that happen. I am left with so many questions. I wanted answers! And then there's the plotholes that I can't wrap my head around.
I'm sorry Bioware, I really love you, but you're making that really hard for me to do. Just my two cents here.

regardless of WHERE the poll is located, the trend is Bioware has ticked off SO MANY MORE PEOPLE THAN IT EVER HAS BEFORE by at least 500%, on it's own FAN WEBSITE where people who LIKE their games come to play.
There is at least a 500% increase in the traffic on that poll versus any other poll on BSN, AND 91% of them say the ending needs improvement. If you owned a business and increased your customer base by 500% (50 becomes 250, 1k becomes 5k, etc.) do you think that is statistically irrelevant?
Note, the point I'm trying to make isn't that such a percent liked/did not. It's that 5 times as many people took the trouble to vote on this poll than any previous one, BECAUSE IT MATTERS TO THEM.

There were, what, 20-25 people on the Normandy? How many men and how many women? Not enough in any case. Humans, Turians, Quarians, etc, are extinct in the ending given. They just haven't layed down and died yet.
There is no hope or happiness in the ending given.

They are very much downplaying the import problems.
There's also absolutely no mention of the insuficient quantity of war assets in the game making the MP mandatory to obtain the (allegedly) best SP ending contrary to what was promised.

True, you need 5,000 war assets for the best ending. That would mean you need 10,000 at least to allow single player only (50% readiness) to get the best ending. I had 88% readiness and barely got 5,400 total war assets. Just enough to squeak by for the 'super special 5 second cutscene'.

I prepurchased the ME3 PC collectors edition. If I had only known that the ending would have been this disappointing I would have waited. I can bet the price will be dropping in the coming weeks. Also, thanks Bioware for allowing me to pay top dollar for a game that I will only have to pay for future DLC's to correct your mistakes. Let's hope that this wasn't their driving force in the first place.
