Well, this is all well and good, but can someone please tell me where he specifically says that they'll be adressing the endings with DLC of any sort?

Specifically, what we got at the end of ME 3

But we also recognize that some of our most passionate fans needed more closure, more answers, and more time to say goodbye to their stories—and these comments are equally valid. Player feedback such as this has always been an essential ingredient in the development of the series.

I am extremely proud of what this team has accomplished, from the first art concepts for the Mass Effect universe to the final moments of Mass Effect 3. But we didn't do it on our own. Over the course of the series, Mass Effect has been a shared experience between the development team and our fans—not just a shared experience in playing the games, but in designing and developing them.

An outpouring of love for Garrus and Tali led to their inclusion as love interests in Mass Effect 2. A request for deeper RPG systems led to key design changes in Mass Effect 3. Your feedback has always mattered. Mass Effect is a collaboration between developers and players, and we continue to listen. So where do we go from here? Throughout the next year, we will support Mass Effect 3 by working on new content. And we’ll keep listening, because your insights and constructive feedback will help determine what that content should be.

This is not the last you’ll hear of Commander Shepard.

This says nothing specific. It can very well mean we'll be playing as Shepard in missions before the Cerberus base assault. Still hearing from Shepard, excuse me if I'm cynical but the vague wording again doesn't fill me with any great hope.

A bit of caution is good right now. We have been disappointed too much lately. But here's the truth, why in the hell would I even consider buying dlc that goes towards a war campaign I will NEVER know the end result of? Seriously, "here everyone, fight with Aria to get Omega back so you can have even more to wonder about at the end of the game when we show her swinging around in the jungle world with Joker and EDI"

No...thanks.

I do not need "more time to say goodbye." I had a sufficient amount of time to say goodbye. What I need is a goodbye that's well-written, sensible, and treats me, the "world," and the characters with the proper level of respect.  One that has closure.

A tragic ending, even an open ending, can still have closure.  "I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream."  Tragic end.  You never see how it all turns out.  But you know you've reached the fight and the end of the story.  This did not happen here.

Casey Hudson:

"Still, we wanted to give players the chance to experience an inspiring and uplifting ending; in a story where you face a hopeless struggle for basic survival, we see the final moments and imagery as offering victory and hope in the context of sacrifice and reflection."

And then we changed our minds and decided to just provide you all with some illogical nonsense that was neither inspiring or uplifting and would just leave you feeling unsatisfied and annoyed.

To be honest, the ending offered us hope in much the same way as someone offering us an after dinner mint in a trash can.

Thanks for the mint, guys...

I love how in the comments of the PA review the article's author says the endings were confusing and bad.

I'm betting that "more of Commander Shepard" involves side-missions that don't fix the ending. I will continue to hold the line till it's proven that we will get something that addresses the ending.

I mean, I'll wait. I'll be patient. But this doesn't do anything other than say buy our DLCs that won't make a lot of sense since, you know, you're dead.

I just want to highlight a few things he says not like anybody will read my post but here goes anyway

He says he considers the game a collaboration between US and THEM. meaning our opinions are valid. He even goes as far as to say "your opinions are valid" Do you know what this means? This means that while he may not agree with our opinion, and i am SURE he doesn't, he recognizes it has solid reasoning behind it.

ALL OF YOU should be willing to do the same for him. At least if you actually want to be constructive and hopeful instead of bitter and mad.

He also says content is coming, THIS YEAR, and that they will be listening to fans in order to determine what to develop. which means that if the ending issue really is as big a deal as it was in the case of Fallout 3, there very well could be alternate ending DLC coming.

No he didn't promise anything, but it's still REALLY EARLY. Guys the fact that he responded at all when the game is still in the early stages of being sold is proof they take this seriously. Stop the hating! The hating is getting ridiculous. It really is.

I agree entirely.

Ok.. they've gotten as far as Page 2 in the PR playbook.

What a load of BS.

Again, I plead: Admit the endings don't get it done. Fix it if at all possible.

Only way not to lose my business forever. Haven't played a Bioware game since finishing, likely won't ever again given this reponse.

*sigh*

What those statements clearly say is that there is no indoctrination. Those were meant to be the endings and they were somehow supposed to be "inspiring and uplifting". Really?

"we see the final moments and imagery as offering victory and hope in the context of sacrifice and reflection"

What I see is the Mass Relays getting destroyed which means everyone in Sol will starve to death.

Honestly, when are they going to address the plot holes? If they are not fixing the ending at least explain the plot holes.

Wow, so much smoke and mirrors you'd think he's an avatar of Tezcatlipoca...

We already knew we were getting DLC and would be seeing more Shepard. That doesn't say *anything* about the endings.

*sigh* Bioware, you can't keep us following this carrot forever. Eventually, some of us *are* going to give up, but it won't be the sort of giving up that leaves us ever playing your games again. We'll just chalk you up to another giant fallen in the industry.

HAHHAHAH! Oh. I laughed at that. I guess that wouldn't be funny to anyone else who wasn't well versed in Aztec mythology. Thanks for the chuckle.

Haha, glad to be of service.

Still no point in buying DLC or playing until the game is fixed. So to honor Marauder Shields I will continue to hold the line.

Also, I very much hope he's not missing the point, because he seems to be.

Closure is only half of the issue here. The much bigger issue is that the ending simply doesn't fit or make sense.

I have a feeling he is missing the point.

This, I presume "more shepard" means dlc like omega etc....

Missing the point.

Why is it so damn hard for these people to just come out and say something definitive?

Either
1: The ending is the way we wanted it, sorry you didn't like it, we aren't changing it.
or
2: We are making dlc to extend/change/fix/add more variety to/whatever the ending.

Why the cryptic crap? Why the PR doubletalk? Why the need to tell us how great other people thought the ending was?

Come on, this is just insulting

I get that they wanted to make it so Shepard became a literal legend to the next generation of people.

But they really didn't have to destroy the whole damn universe for that to happen. Really what upsets me the most is the loss of the Citadel and the Relays. I was almost expecting Shepard to die after all the "This is the end of the Shepard story" talk.

All this is is an assurance that there will be more game content. Everyone knew this already.

"Commander Shepards story isnt over yet" just means "You haven't seen him fight to take back Omega yet!"

This announcement means absolutely nothing.

We ALREADY KNEW that there was going to be more DLC, because the little text popup at the end told us this. Thank you for reassuring us of things we ALREADY KNEW. Why don't you tell us something new, like what exactly were you guys thinking with this ending?

Well we were really high and we watched the last episode oof BSG and 2001 and just wrote down an ending on a paper towel.

Hold the line people,he is trying to get us to buy stuff so that they will not have to cave.  We are so close don't let victory slip through our fingers, this just more PR spin.

Hold the line as long as it takes people.

Reacting to an unexpected variable like a massive fan protest takes some time. If they actually plan on doing something concrete, they'll likely have to upset and rearrange a post-release schedule that's been in place for a while. If they choose to do that—and I think they'd be a bit foolish not to—I still wouldn't expect actual details so soon.

Lack of forethought is what got them into this situation. Repeating that mistake with a hasty announcement could end up backfiring in the long run. Personally, I'll be giving them a month or two.

This is the best we're going to get for now. It's a reassertion of their commitment to their fans, and really we can't ask for anything more at the moment. Hold the line, keep pushing for new endings, but let's treat them more like a friend with a bad addiction rather than a hated enemy.

He's vague because he HAS to be vague. They don't want to say anything that could even be remotely interpreted as a promise, because they want to make sure they can and they want to before committing.

Stay patient, stay civil, stay generous (donate!), and hold the line.
