He basically spent a whole lot of words to tell us what the little pop up at the end of the game tells us already.

This. Casey, we knew you wanted more of our money. But you now have to EARN IT. This isn't ME2 where you have legions of fans who will throw money to continue the adventure. Without a fix to the ending, there is no adventure. Just a slow and POINTLESS march to Shepard's and the rest of the galaxy's death.

Here's to hoping that you'll come out with a better comment about how you're going to fix the mess YOU created.

Casey can talk the talk, now lets see if he can walk the walk.

Translation: His words mean nothing to me. I want some actual clear-cut answers. This message of his doesn't give us anything. They're just empty words.

It's legit.

But what does it mean.  At face value this could be hopeful to those of us that need closure.  But is it?  Saying it isn't the last we'll see of Commander Shepard neither confirms nor denies anything--we already knew that.  DLC was expected.

I still have a lot of faith in Bioware, despite the lack of response to the outcry up until this point.

I just hope I'm not proven wrong.

Honestly, just stop all of it. The one thing worse than anger is apathy. Whatever they do won't matter to my Shepard. He is some random apartment with Miranda and I am never opening the door to leave. Screw the universe since it feels like the mass effect universe screwed me.

Uh, no. He's talking about the dumb DLC they already have on the pipeline. They'll be hocking that crap when the dust from the ending rage settles.

And sadly, people will still buy it. After all the lies and bullsh*t, people will still buy it.

EA has won. Bioware has won. We are defeated. The Line is broken.

Whats up with the Omega DLC, was it leaked that this was the planned 1st DLC (beyond Ashes)? Or just conjecture?

The title is misleading: this has nothing to do with the endings at all besides a small sentence.

Guys, come on.

You wanted a response, it wasn't EXACTLY what you wanted, but you got it.

We don't get a response, we rage out and condemn the entire company.

We get a response, we rage out, and condemn the entire comapny.

It's no wonder they are so unwilling to say anything definite here. Chill out, it's progress, keep being respectful and putting on the pressure.

Exactly. It's not the giant leap forward, but it's the man himself adressing the fans. He's probably saving the big announcement for PAX. But still, baby steps. We're making progress!

Agreed.

I feel like right now, unless Casey or somebody that matters come out and flat out say something like "YES, THERE WILL BE A FREE DLC THAT CONCLUDE THE GAME AND THIS AND THAT WILL HAPPEN", no one's gonna be happy. It is obvious he cannot confirm anything, but he had to do some kind of damage control, like that one post this one guy posted about PR methods. There was never any doubt in my mind about the DLCs, just to what extent. Even the post credit stargazer scene tells you there's gonna be at least one DLC ("alright, one more story").

Holding the line until the ending at least has some semblance of continuity with the plot, lore and themes of the trilogy.

We always intended that the scale of the conflict and the underlying theme of sacrifice would lead to a bittersweet ending

When, in FIVE YEARS have they said this?

Right now XD

What I got from that was the entire game of ME3 WAS the ending. Your choices mattered up to the point of StarChild.

there will be more DLC but not commitment to endings. Only thibngs such as MP add Ons , Omega retake etc prior to final push.

Could be wrong, but thats what I got from it.

I have played every Bioware game since Baldur's Gate. I am done with them. It is now clear they are not fixing their mistakes. They will never see another penny from me.

You realize making an Omega DLC could be "more of Shepard"?

This in no way says they're going to fix the endings or even make a post-ending DLC.

No he downright says that the ending we got is not the actuall ending. It is a holder ending for the simple fact of content still to be developed and released later on. The story aint done yet! (Stargazer does say "Alright, one more story! )

Also I found this to be a very honest answer from Bioware. This is why people that understood the endings said it wasnt a bad ending, myself included.

Could you point that out where in the release, or anywhere else, for that matter, that Casey said specifically there was ending DLC coming?

I'm glad we got a response, but I just hope its not an attempt to quiet the masses from kicking and screaming about the ending. He still isn't acknowledging that MOST people aren't happy with the ending and that they made a mistake.
.

I'm sure they know this, otherwise he wouldn't even bother to post.

this is the first post i have ever made on this forum.

i would like to address this quote from Casey Hudson's recent letter to the community:

"...we designed Mass Effect 3 to be a series of endings to key plots and
storylines, each culminating in scenes that show you the consequences of
your actions."

this is beyond hilarious. can anyone explain to me how the ending culminated in scenes that showed us the consequences of our actions? the only "culmination" i see is me realizing how terrible your company truely is.

i should have known after dragon age 2, so i have only myself to blame. it's funny because i was so previously indoctrinated into your company that i bought into the "indoctrination theory". i really wanted to believe.

i will no longer purchase bioware products, and wish to say this, "shame on you all".

That depends? Did you pay attention during your playthroughs? If so you would have known that many plotholes from ME1 and 2 were closed during your gameplay. Choices you made in ME3 were instantly reflected upon.  You do realize you do not need everything to be in the ending to close plotholes right?

I mean if the ending was something like "oh they survived, live happily ever after and got babies and ****" well...I dont need to see that.

It's good that Casey came out and said something, I expected some other Bioware names to make similar statements, but not him.

I know it's easy to write this off as more PR talk, and business as usual. In fact, this is right in line with the expected process. Company employees extending that olive branch to the community (via the multiplayer weekend, and now this statement) is right in line and on schedule with popular PR management in situations like this.

It's going to take a lot more to quell this storm, Bioware, and it's going to become more and more apparent as the weeks go by. To fumble right at the finish to what is quite honestly one of the best trilogies of this new generation of films and video games, is crushing to the dedicated fans.

I feel that what's called for is an honest, in depth discussion on the endings, why certain decisions were made, and if there have been talks between Bioware and EA in regards to epilogue/ending DLC. Maybe a Q&A, something simple, and totally transparent.

Or maybe the line will stop being held, and Bioware walks away from this mostly unscathed. I don't see it happening. With so much time and money put into this trilogy by the fans, and a story, and characters that were so well written...I can't speak for everyone, but I'm far too emotionally invested to go quietly into the night.

I'm not asking for DLC, a re-write, or anything that requires significant time and money to do...only an open and honest discussion. If any thing spawns from it, then so be it, I'll be happy like many others.

Pretty sure you know what many wants as a DLC, considering we've been quite vocal about it.
And pardon us if we don't exactly jump for joy yet, we're gonna wait until we see and /or hear what's going to come out before we possibly do that.

That said, make no mistake. While many of us dislike the ending, and want the story to move onwards to a more conclusive ending affected by the choices we've made, we're all pretty much in agreement that the rest of the game is just exceptionally great.
We just think that little adjustment would make it borderline perfect.

Quoted for Truth.

They're going to try to make us look like idiots before they even attempt to commit to the fact the ending was crap.

And here many of us are actually offering solutions, that they'll just steal and say was the plan all along without giving any credit where it's due.

You know, that whole Rachni thing from ME2 comes to mind. It was supposed to be hugely important in this one, as I understand it?

So we get one mission, where whether we saved the damn thing in the second game only really affects the outcome of war assets. That’s the kind of conclusion we get for all the stuff we’ve done? Throw it under the bus so that the ending can boil down to three absolutely inane choices where the tiny variations depend on how much arbitrary ‘stuff’ we’ve gathered?

There is no bitter-sweetness here. None. It’s not even bitter – it’s vile. Damned if you do, Damned if you don’t does not equal bitter sweet, and that’s what the ending felt like.

Like I had been playing a heroic saga of a hero’s struggle all along, only to have her come to the ending, get kicked in the mouth, and kowtow to a space baby because the writers thought that sounded like a neat resolution.

In her last moments – everything she was, all her personality and all her struggles, her ideals, her beliefs, get completely kicked aside though there’s no way she would ever have bowed to this crap. I was secretly hoping for the indoctrination though I didn't want to admit that to myself - but with this reply that doesn't seem likely either.

*deep breath*

Now, now. I said I’d play Origins to get the bad taste out of my mouth, and here I am, unhappy and still typing. Good night, folks.
