Judging by Jessica's tweet it would seem day 1 dlc was just the tip of the iceberg. I can already seeing this becoming a new trend to put up an ending that isn't complete only to release dlc that fills up what the ending should've been to begin with.

Hollywood has already gotten in the habbit of "the sequel, part 2." Twilight. Harry Potter. This ship has sailed. Now give me an ending.

"But we also recognize that some of our most passionate fans needed more closure, more answers, and more time to say goodbye to their stories—and these comments are equally valid. Player feedback such as this has always been an essential ingredient in the development of the series."

To me, this seems like an admission of, "We want to please our fans."

Notice he closes it by saying this is not the end of Shepard's story...yet we were told before it was. To me, this seems like an implicit admission that ending DLC is on its way.

Mr. Hudson,

Thank you for addressing the issues we've been discussing for the last week or so. A lot of heartache could have been avoided if you'd done this earlier. Moreover, the tone of your response does leave something to be desired (telling us that some game journalists liked it is unhelpful, especially when many of these individuals enjoy limited credibility due to EA's advertising policies and overly-cozy relationship with some members of the press). That being said, I hope that most of us understand that Bioware is run by humans, who sometimes make decisions that are subjective and may be polarizing in nature.

I, and a lot of other people (upwards of 85% on several different polls here and elsewhere) believe that Bioware blew a call on the ending. In your message above it appears that you are considering addressing this. I appreciate your willingness to consider doing so. However, actions speak louder than words, and you have yet to offer any concrete assurances that the core request of the majority of your fans will be addressed. I, and others, will be watching anxiously to see how you proceed from this point.

For now, thank you for addressing us personally, and we hope that you will be more open with us in the future.

Lol this is just making people despise bioware even more. They should of just come out and said We're working on something or we're not, not "whatever comes next will be the fans decision". The fans have already decided by a VAST amount.

The red/bolded letters on the tweet in the OP are completely misleading. She said the DISCUSSION about the endings isn't over, not that the endings themselves weren't the final ones that we'll be getting.

Guys, calm down at least a little.

Bioware will try to fix it. They don't often behave humble on the outside. But they always try to improve. The challenge before us is not to shame them. It's to help them understand WHAT they need to try for. Help them understand what they did wrong so they can fix it.

Yeah, through whole ME3 plot we see endings of most storylines inside
trilogy. Now I'm starting to believe that all BW talk about many
different endings refered to whole ME3, not to just final moments. If
You look at this that way it really brings Your personal ending to ME
series.

But still the very ending of ME3 is plot hole (Normandy
thing) and generally doesn't provide enough insight to the fate of Shep,
his friends and so on.

It is it? Shall we abandon all hope? Now I
will be forever spoiled due to Indo Theory 'cause I believed in it, I
see all inconsistency, holes, cheap tricks, poor writeing and lazyness :crying:

We always
intended that the scale of the conflict and the underlying theme of
sacrifice would lead to a bittersweet ending

Sorry, but as following Destruction path (my ultimate goal, but it really doesn't matter) I got: whole galaxy fleet starving to death near Earth, possibly billions killed in Mass Relays explosions, dead Shep (or slightly hint that he may actually survive), those who will die on remote non self-suficient planets, whole Citadel population (with high number of refugees) killed too (assuming that they wers still alive) etc.

So I ask where is "sweet" part of the ending? That Joker, Liara and Javik who magically appeared on Normandy survived? To see Reapers destroyed? At that cost? Will their remains lying on Earth still indoctrinate like Derelicted Reaper? Come on...

So it seems that Synergy ending was really the best. Synthetics wont starve. It's great that my Shep who always encouraged evolution, development of free will etc. now forced everyone to be synthetic, stripping them of free will and choice.

He is right. I see much bitter but not so much sweet

Fans brought down the ratings for ME3 to abysmal levels on Amazon and Metacritic.

Let's do the same thing to Bioware's other games.

It's time to take the fight to them! At least until we get a solid response on the ending! No more dodging us Bioware!

So they will work on more ME3 during the year... so maybe they will decide to release a corrected or expanded or explained ending in 1 or 1 and a half years...

Sorry... unless that comes first, I have no interest on the rest.

Is anyone else gone from depressed about the game ending to depressed about this? The fans are unhappy, the developers fail to make the fans happy, the game is dragged down by this.

It's like watching something you love curl up and die. Goddamn it, I didn't want this.

Yea, all I want Casey to admit is that he made a freaking incoherent ending. Instead, he talks about how the ending was great but I am just suffering from lack of closure. ITS NOT LACK OF CLOSURE. I AM SUFFERING FROM GETTING TROLLED WITH THE MOST RETARDED ENDING!

I'm willing to be that "lack of closure" is one of, if not the very top reason most people are giving for being upset with the ending. I think anybody in here who wants him to trash his TWO WEEK OLD game, or admit he made an error, or go over the gamefront article point by point, is asking too much.

The point is, they are going to make some DLC, and they want to make whatever sells the best, and if an alternate ending DLC wil do that, then they are going to do that.

Kind of odd for this to be released late on Friday. My bet is that they want to get a handle on the outburst because being that its the weekend, more and more people will start to beat the game and then go hunting for answers. If they see that a statements already been made, they would be less likely to rant and rave about it to everyone.

In case you don't visit there very often, Casey Hudson said this. This is official, ME3 and Shepard are NOT finished yet. Source - http://social.biowar.../index/10089946

No, this doesn't directly address the endings but it implies. We can only hope. Hold the line, guys.

More good news (from Jessica Merizan's Twitter) -
@Xaeldaren @batchix what did you want it to say? #curious (PS this discussion re: the endings is not OVER - it's just beginning)

---

"There’s been a lot of discussion and debate about the conclusion of Mass
Effect 3, so I thought I’d share my  erspective with you here. I’ll
avoid outright spoilers, but I’d still recommend finishing the game and
experiencing it for yourself before reading this.

For the last
eight years, Mass Effect  has been a labor of love for our team; love
for the characters we’ve created, for the medium of video games, and for
the fans that have supported us.  For us and for you, Mass Effect 3 had
to live up to a lot of expectations, not only for a great gaming
experience, but for a resolution to the countless storylines and
decisions you’ve made as a player since the journey began in 2007. So we
designed Mass Effect 3 to be a series of endings to key plots and
storylines, each culminating in scenes that show you the consequences of
your actions.  You then carry the knowledge of these consequences with
you as you complete the final moments of your journey.

We always
intended that the scale of the conflict and the underlying theme of
sacrifice would lead to a bittersweet ending—to do otherwise would
betray the agonizing decisions Shepard had to make along the way.
Still, we wanted to give players the chance to experience an inspiring
and uplifting ending; in a story where you face a hopeless struggle for
basic survival, we see the final moments and imagery as offering victory
and hope in the context of sacrifice and reflection.

We've had some incredibly positive reactions to Mass Effect 3, from the New York Times declaring it “a gripping, coherent triumph”, to Penny Arcade
calling it “an amazing accomplishment”, to emails and tweets from
players who have given us the most profound words of appreciation we've
ever received.

But we also recognize that some of our most
passionate fans needed more closure, more answers, and more time to say
goodbye to their stories—and these comments are equally valid. Player
feedback such as this has always been an essential ingredient in the
development of the series.

I am extremely proud of what this team
has accomplished, from the first art concepts for the Mass Effect
universe to the final moments of Mass Effect 3.  But we didn't do it on
our own.  Over the course of the series, Mass Effect has been a shared
experience between the development team and our fans—not just a shared
experience in playing the games, but in designing and developing them.
An outpouring of love for Garrus and Tali led to their inclusion as love
interests in Mass Effect 2.  A request for deeper RPG systems led to
key design changes in Mass Effect 3.  Your feedback has always
mattered.  Mass Effect is a collaboration between developers and
players, and we continue to listen.

So where do we go from here?
Throughout the next year, we will support Mass Effect 3 by working on
new  content.  And we’ll keep listening, because your insights and
constructive feedback will help determine what that content should be.
This is not the last you’ll hear of Commander Shepard.

We look
forward to your continued support and involvement as we work together to
shape the remaining experiences in the story of the Mass Effect
trilogy.

Thanks for taking this journey with us.

Casey Hudson"

Make me want to cry :(

Please Casey Hudson don't worry your game won't be forgotten by any of us, we just want our ending of the whole epic thing to make sense.

For your and Bioware sake there better be more to the end of this then you are letting on.. *sigh*

Holding the line.

Is that the 'Robinson Normandy' ending? Or the "This cycle is dead - but at least the next cycle will last more than 50k years?

I didn't want bittersweet, and nowhere did you state during the 100+ hours of gameplay that my character had before London that all of us, my Shepard and the world he existed in "would take one for the galaxy". You made an apocalyptic game without a happy ending while misleading us to believe there was a hope that there actually was hope. I don't give a damn about the fact that the galaxy is rescued from destruction 50k years into the future. You roasted the present one on the funeral pyre of artistic bittersweet nihilism. And that was not hinted at ONCE during my Mass Effect experience.

I'm gone, not just from this franchise - but anything involving your broken gamestudio Mr. Hudson.

Is this really all we get in terms of a response? No one here cares if there will be DLC, we already know that. We want to know if you'll consider adding new endings, how is that not obvious enough? I want a yes or no, not a "you'll see what we do throughout the year". What an empty "announcement".
