Until they can acknowledge the fact that "Lots of Speculation!!" is NOT how you end a trilogy, then they understand nothing and don't care about what a vast majority of their purchasing base want.

Fans brought down the ratings for ME3 to abysmal levels on Amazon and Metacritic.

Let's do the same thing to Bioware's other games.

It's time to take the fight to them! At least until we get a solid response on the ending! No more dodging us Bioware!

No, thats not the way to react to this. ME3 overall is not an abysmal game. Pointless, perhaps. But not abysmal, and doenst deserve to be trashed like that. And certainly not the other games. Just dont buy those other games. Dont go out and deliberately bomb their ratings.

They can't hold out forever.

The real question is who will break first?

Almost 35,000 people?

Or a gaming company?

Questions...............questions.

Am I the only one taking this statement as a win?

I didn't expect anyone in any official capacity to come out and say "Gee, we sure screwed the pooch on the ending!" Particularly just one day after it was released in a major market like Japan. Anyone expecting such has... well... less than a firm grip on reality.

But Hudson did, however, bring up that they included Garrus and Tali as romances in ME2 and brought back some small measure of RPG elements into ME3.

Those two issues were matches.

This is an ever-loving bonfire.

If they did work on those, they damn sure will work on this.

So I take it as a victory. A small and theoretical one, but a victory nonetheless.

Dear BioWare,

You are about to find out how thin the line between love and hate really is.

Signed,
The people who used to be your fans.

To me, this seems like an admission of, "We want to please our fans."

Notice he closes it by saying this is not the end of Shepard's story...yet we were told before it was. To me, this seems like an implicit admission that ending DLC is on its way.

I agree, they seem to be changing their tune on Commander Shepard. I think at the very least it shows the very fluid nature of the discussions going on at BioWare about what can or should be done with the DLC.

I should also add that what he wrote is very reasonable. He didn't talk down to those who are against the ending - quite the contrary, he called us the "most passionate fans" (all 90% of us).

And he's right to compliment the game and the team. They did a fantastic job, up until the last few minutes. Honestly, if not for the ending, the biggest controversy would probably be Tali, and that's a controversy I can live with. It doesn't ruin the game.

Other than that, the game(s) is perfect. That ending just really ruins it though...

Sound and Fury signifying nothing. That's exactly what Casey's post is. Nothing more and nothing less. This tells us absolutely nothing aside that there might be DLC coming. But it doesn't truly address the ending, it says nothing about our complaints but lauds "critics" opinions and does nothing by spin the PR wheel some more. It says Commander Shepherd's story isn't over, but isn't that what ME3 was supposed to be? The conclusion to his/her story? How can we believe anything he says when he's been proven to constantly lie to the community at large? How does Bioware and EA think we're supposed to take this at face value?

Mr Hudson, thank you for any kind of response, enigmatic as it is. Sadly, what you're saying doesn't address any of the really crucial concerns of the community. There was plenty of closure, the narrative was top notch, all of the characters had their chance to shine. Nobody is saying ME3 is a bad game, or that it wasn't labour of love. Nobody would get so worked up if the problem was a bad ending at the end of bad game.

Our concerns are pretty simple, really.

First, the final choices are not diverse as they were promised. Really important bits always play out the same. Reapers get chased off. Shepard dies in the process. For reasons unexplained, Normandy and its crew ends up on an alien planet, our two-mean team from the charge that had no bussiness being on Normandy included. Mass Relays get destroyed. All our allies get stranded on Earth, that doesn't have nearly enough resources to sustain them for all we know.

Second, the details that differ are not based on how we played our Shepard. The final choice is disconnected from any previous choices we've made. The extra conditions that affect it are based on a numerical value. That numerical value is impacted by scanning minigame, multiplayer, iPhone app and simple fetch quests far more than it's affected by the narrative. Doesn't matter if we save krogans or side with salarians, bring peace or death to Rannoch, we can still get any given value of it.

Third, the feeling of the ending is only bittersweet if you assume no price is too high for defeating the reapers. And that might even be true for Shepard, even if that means sacrificing his allies, rendeding all the choices he's made and all the help he provided pointless in the process. But you can't look from that perspective alone. This is a game, that up until now had practically infinite potential for replayability. What the ending means for a player is at least as important.

And players are left with game that suddenly lost its replayability value, because all the previous choices and outcomes are retroactively rendered pointless. We're left with a 100 hour long story that presents us with a choice between screwing up our allies and dying, screwing up our allies and dying or screwing up our allies and dying. In the end colourful lights flash, chain of illogical events happens and we're left none the wiser. Entire story we were being told turns out to be just another lie, and our hero dies the fool.

There are people on those forums that explained it far better. I'm sure some of the moderators could get you proper summary. This isn't about a closure. This isn't about more explanations needed. This is about telling good and complete tale and then slapping five minute retcon riddled with plotholes at the end of it that destroys everything that happened before. This depressing, unavoidable ending honestly means there's no point going back to the game anymore. Keep that in mind when developing any new DLC. Cross-reference all the people that bought Overlord, Shadow Broker or Arrival with those who are complaining now.

The only thing about the statement I really didn't like (aside from the vagueness) was when he implied that we are some kind of minority. 90% is far from a minority Mr. Hudson

Hold the line people

Casey is throwing some passive aggressive realness at all y'all. I don't think that could have possibly be more condescending. The choice of articles to site, the downplaying of the disappointment, the lack of any sort of information and not actually addressing anything.... what a bummer.

Throughout the next year, we will support Mass Effect 3 by working on
new content. And we’ll keep listening, because your insights and
constructive feedback will help determine what that content should be.
This is not the last you’ll hear of Commander Shepard. "

guys pls keep it civil, yes? I`m disappinted too but you can criticize it and remain polite. Remember its Mr. Hudson announcing this , but there are more people involved behind this and future decisions about dlc etc... Personal attacks against him leads nowhere.

I agree with you, the firestorm over Garrus and Tali could not have been anything nearly like this and they put that in there. So c'mon people... the top guy on Mass Effect just acknowledge your concerns in about the nicest way possible. If you wanted him to kneel and kiss your figurative ring you were hoping for too much. Lets celebrate this message.

I think they realize people are depressed and they're trying to cheer them up.

The ending was not "bittersweet." It was nonsensical.
