You're quite a sadistic troll, aren't you? I bet all these sad players really brighten your mood, huh?

You must really like me to troll me so hard, huh? You follow me around like a puppydog.

Guys, this is an ongoing dialogue. Casey's post is not the final definitive answer to your concerns. This is a collaboration.

In order to be successful in this, I need you to help me gathering feedback and tell us what you want to see. I understand that people are still feeling emotionally raw or untrusting, and I'm not saying it's not valid to feel that way. However, if you want to see your feedback implemented, this needs to become constructive and rational.

Complaining more isn't going to get you what you want. Tell us what you need. Make polls, collect your thoughts. Chris and I are gathering this information and the developers are listening.

This is a partnership. Let's have hope and make your voice heard - that includes positive feedback too (if you like something we're doing, tell us so we know to keep it up!).

Nope, most of us got that from his post.

I don't see how closure is to much to ask for. That's all we want.

Am I the only one taking this statement as a win?

I didn't expect anyone in any official capacity to come out and say "Gee, we sure screwed the pooch on the ending!" Particularly just one day after it was released in a major market like Japan. Anyone expecting such has... well... less than a firm grip on reality.

But Hudson did, however, bring up that they included Garrus and Tali as romances in ME2 and brought back some small measure of RPG elements into ME3.

Those two issues were matches.

This is an ever-loving bonfire.

If they did work on those, they damn sure will work on this.

So I take it as a victory. A small and theoretical one, but a victory nonetheless.

It is.  Wheeling out the Project Director to even mention something like the ending means they're feeling the pressure.  They aren't cracking yet, but they're trying to squash this fast.  Show them how hard that will be.  Hold the line.

We already have some people leaving, but it's not like that's a victory for Bioware. Those people will probably never purchase a Bioware product again. While I'm ready for a long-term approach, many people aren't. And if Bioware really does take a long time they'll just wind up alienating more of their fans.

You should not be proud Casey. You managed to ruin an entire series in the space of 15 minutes. That's nothing to be proud of.

And don't try to pretend it's only your most "passionate" fans who hate the ending. Everyone I've spoken to hated it.

I would like to see even more crew interactions and LI interactions added with DLC! One of the best parts of the RPG that is Mass Effect. The overall story - fantastic. The Crew - the ones who sucked us right in to the overall story in the first place as we followed them along.

Fighting your own supporters doesn't seem the smartest thing to do, BioWare.

Everytime you treat us as "insane cryers" you're digging your own grave.

Well said. You say we are too stupid to understand your games Bioware? Fine then I will buy some stupid games that I do understand that are not made by you.  Thatr does mean you will not be seeing any more of my money, are you happy now?

People this means we are winning,he is trying to beat us down.

Hold the line as long as it takes people.

Just gonna post THIS again since I don't think it could be more clear that they are following the EXACT PR forumla this guy describes.

This post tells us nothing new except confirming what we already suspected. There is no secret sensical ending, Bioware just screwed up HARD, and we will hold them to account for it. That's what Mass Effect deserves.

Not apparently. They're just not willing to commit to anything. Which is actually an improvement given the statements that were previously commited to and not fulfilled.

We'll likely get one. They're good about doing what they think is most demanded.

"We always intended that the scale of the conflict and the underlying theme of
sacrifice would lead to a bittersweet ending—to do otherwise would
betray the agonizing decisions Shepard had to make along the way.
Still, we wanted to give players the chance to experience an inspiring
and uplifting ending; in a story where you face a hopeless struggle for
basic survival, we see the final moments and imagery as offering victory
and hope in the context of sacrifice and reflection."

Dear Casey/Bioware,

I know how fruitless it would be for me to expect you to see this among the thousands of posts on the forums here, but I feel that this is something I need to say.

When Mass Effect was first released, I was only in high school. I was a weak person with weight and social problems who took their anger at the world out on those around me, on those who I should have cared the most about. I would wake up days where I would feel angry, and I did not even know why. But then I had the opportunity to play Mass Effect. I bought it solely on a whim, and I had no way of knowing that this series would affect me in ways that most people have not. The themes and characters of the Mass Effect series, their heroism and strength, inspired me to better myself as a person. I lost weight and became healthy, I worked 45 hours a week as soon as I graduated so that I could be independent and in no way be a burden on my family who has sacrificed so much for me. I learned to control my anger. I cannot comprhend what my life would be like without this series.

When I experienced the endings, I felt crushed and betrayed. The message of hope that the first two games instilled in my heart was taken away when Shepard was forced into a completely illogical and insensible situation where he acted entirely out of character, and the decisions and sacrifices we had made were rendered completely pointless. The relays are destroyed, possible with every system having them as well. Millions of aliens are trapped on Earth - assuming it isn't destroyed by the relay exploding - as well as on ships and planets and will eventually starve. Your squad magically teleports onto the Normandy, and Joker runs away for no reason, only to mysteriously crash on some unknown planet. Shepard and possibly some of his team are dead because some Starchild forced a ridiculous decision.

The geth and quarians will never be able to enjoy the peace between them. The turians and krogan will never be able to shake hands as brothers in arms. Liara will never get her lots of little blue babies. Don't throw everything away.

I would like the cite the Kurosawa classic, the Seven Samurai. The samurai fought so hard to save the people of the village, and  they lost all but three. This was not a victory. This was a defeat. So it is with the current endings if taken at face value.

I can emphasize with the desire to create an ending that is bittersweet and portrays the theme of sacrifice and refection....but this is not what the endings managed to deliver to us as a clear message. There is another theme that holds strongly onto this series, perhaps moreso than that of sacrifice: a message of hope, of never giving up so that at the end of the day Shepard and his squad members could walk away from this battle together. Over the past five years, we have been the trenches with Commander Shepard as he and his team fought a battle against the odds...and even though they might have lost a few people along the way, they ultimately prevailed. We lost Mordin, Thane, and perhaps others who we could not save no matter what we could. But in the end, we learned that if you are willing to give it your all, if you are willing to fight, you could walk away from that final battle with your squad mates. Even if Shepard and his team lived, the ending would have still been bittersweet, perhaps even moreso if they lived because they have to wake up every day knowing what has been lost and given to achieve victory. Shepard and the team has been through emotional, mental, and physical trauma that most people could never walk away from without scars. The dreams of Shepard alone suggest serious PTSD. Millions, perhaps billions are dead by the end of the series. Entire worlds are now ruins. Even with the Reapers utterly destroyed, it is a bittersweet ending. Not just Shepard and his team have suffered and sacrificed so much over the course of these games but the entire Galaxy, Bioware. They deserve to be able to defeat the Reapers, lay down their rifles, and live in the peace that they have spend this entire series trying to build. Please, don't throw away everything they have worked for like these current endings insinuate. The Relays are destroyed, everyone is marooned, and Shepard is possibly dead. This isn't what the Mass Effect series should end as, but rather an uplifting story of beating the odds and despite coming out with scars, living to see the light of day, which has never been so beautiful. A person does not have to die to be a hero. The one who lives, albiet with scars, is just as important. It lifts our hearts and souls, teaches us that despite how dark the world may seem, there is a light which can banish the darkness from our lives. Forgive a religious analogy, but even the Christian Jesus rose from the dead. And significance his sacrifice was not devalued in the least. Rather, him returning to life gives Christians a message of hope that even in the darkess of times, you cannot give up hope. We need living heroes, Bioware, who we can turn to as current examples to mold our lives after.

You have given me so much hope through this series over the past five years. I don't want to lose hope and abandon you because I feel like I can no longer trust you like Kaiden or Ashley felt towards Shepard...but we the fans.....I....need you show us that you are still on our side. I want to be your Liara or Garrus and stand at your stand through thick and thin. To continue fighting in the trenches against all odds so that at the end of the day, we can all sit down on a beach with our guns laid down and say, "We did it. We've won. It's time live in peace like we have earned."

We need you to be our Commander Shepard. We need you to show us that hope is still there, that we can place our trust in you. Show us, the Galaxy, that you're someone worth following.

Thank you.

Well...it's a start. By no means is this a "victory" towards getting a new ending, but at least he's acknowledging the fact that we have a legitimate complaint.

Also...we're apparently a small group of fans.

I'm going based on what Casey and Mac sad pre-release in terms of DLC - in which they said all DLC will be within the ME3 story and not post, because it ends - but why would ANY DLC matter if the end game doesn't change and we won't see post-ending DLC?

I had MAD respect for Casey and Mac, despite this hiccup of an ending, but they have to realize the ending is none of these things they're claiming it to be. It's not bittersweet, there's no closure, and it certainly doesn't make sense.

I'm game for all DLC - as I love Mass Effect too much - but I'm waiting for a little less PR of a response and more real, creator-to-fan interaction.

It's pretty obvious what we need.....

This forum has been spammed for pretty much the past week about the ending and it is showing no sign of letting up.

Im not complaining when I say give us new endings....Im saying it because its what everyone wants.

I appreciate this but surely you know that the fans want Ending DLC. It's painfully obvious.
