Also, I very much hope he's not missing the point, because he seems to be.
Closure is only half of the issue here. The much bigger issue is that the ending simply doesn't fit or make sense.
He's non-commital and "proud of his team." Typical response of corporate PR during controversies.
No where did he state anything about post-game content when saying we would see more of Commander Shepard. Not raining on the parade (I'm a Fleet member), just saying that he has committed to nothing that the disenfranchised can latch on to.
Just hold the line and do not purchase pre-ending DLC if you currently find yourself a dissatisfied customer. Even if he lacks committment, because he's required to during periods such as this, you don't have to.

I also wish games reviewers had called out this ending because the movie reviewers I get reviews from sure as hell would have done, it just speaks to how cynical reviewers are of games as a storytelling medium and how scared of not appearing aloof they are.

<snip> Still, we wanted to give players the chance to experience an inspiring
and uplifting ending; in a story where you face a hopeless struggle for
basic survival, we see the final moments and imagery as offering victory
and hope in the context of sacrifice and reflection.

Inspring? Uplifting? Hope? WTF!! The whole game left me wanting to stab myself in the head with a firepoker because it would have been less freaking painful than the game's story! And it was supposed to be uplifting?? You have to be ****ing kidding me. Suggestion to Casey...go read what Brent Knowles had to say. That man gets it. You clearly do not.

I kind of wish he would just say if they have ending DLC planned or not. I would rather have my soul be crushed right now rather than wait months on end seeing if the new DLC will be the ending.

Specifically, what we got at the end of ME 3
This says nothing specific. It can very well mean we'll be playing as Shepard in missions before the Cerberus base assault. Still hearing from Shepard, excuse me if I'm cynical but the vague wording again doesn't fill me with any great hope. But we also recognize that some of our most passionate fans needed more closure, more answers, and more time to say goodbye to their stories—and these comments are equally valid. Player feedback such as this has always been an essential ingredient in the development of the series.
I am extremely proud of what this team has accomplished, from the first art concepts for the Mass Effect universe to the final moments of Mass Effect 3. But we didn't do it on our own. Over the course of the series, Mass Effect has been a shared experience between the development team and our fans—not just a shared experience in playing the games, but in designing and developing them.
An outpouring of love for Garrus and Tali led to their inclusion as love interests in Mass Effect 2. A request for deeper RPG systems led to key design changes in Mass Effect 3. Your feedback has always mattered. Mass Effect is a collaboration between developers and players, and we continue to listen. So where do we go from here? Throughout the next year, we will support Mass Effect 3 by working on new content. And we’ll keep listening, because your insights and constructive feedback will help determine what that content should be.
This is not the last you’ll hear of Commander Shepard.

True. And not only that, Shepard died and his closest friends (those that were still alive), including his LI, were stranded on a remote planet. Happy ending!BobbyTheI wrote...

Also, how is the ending "inspiring and uplifting"? It depressed the hell out of me.
But the universe is free of the Reaper influence... by destroying the mass relays and stranding everyone years away from the rest of the galaxy! Billions will die due to lack of access to resources, and friends and family will be separated forever!
The galactic community has been reduced back to the Stone Age. I mean, what's not uplifting about that?

Every one of you that pays for the post game nonsense only validates this kind of horse****.
I'm sure we all will.
Would I eat that sh*t up in a desperate attempt to get a marginally positive ending? Yes.
Do I have shame? Not when it comes to something I've been emotionally invested for for years.
