Yes, because the newspaper reviews have so much more credibility than tens of thousands of your own enraged fans pouring their hearts out on your company's website.

Pfft Bioware are just going through the regular PR motions.

Doesn't look like we will get much difference ending wise even if they do release a dlc for it, maybe some extended dialogue at a push.

As an earlier poster said: Well that's a start. But you do know it is going to take more to get me to the table.

Great!  Where is it?  Oh, wait.  You meant that garbage you already gave us.  Nevermind.

BW releasing pre-ending DLC would be like me having the best day ever and then getting shot or in a car accident at the end. After something like that, the whole day just goes to hell. Pre-ending DLC would be like, "Ok, you still get shot/in a car accident, but, BEFORE that, you got some ICE CREAM!" Me: "Who gives a ****" as I lie broken in the hospital.

Until I get a direct answer on the possible DLC endings, I have no interest in what they have to say anymore. The only thing else I'll be looking for is to see how the sales of ME3 are affected next week. Like DA2, bad word of mouth will be hitting it hard by then. Maybe that will get them moving and there is also PAX in Apirl.

He just says, there will be future DLC, he didn't say it' ll be post- ME3. If it' ll be post ME3, it better be worth my money.

"For us and for you, Mass Effect 3 had to live up to a lot of expectations, not only for a great gaming experience, but for a resolution to the countless storylines and decisions you’ve made as a player since the journey began in 2007. So we designed Mass Effect 3 to be a series of endings to key plots and storylines, each culminating in scenes that show you the consequences of your actions. You then carry the knowledge of these consequences with you as you complete the final moments of your journey.

We always intended that the scale of the conflict and the underlying theme of sacrifice would lead to a bittersweet ending—to do otherwise would betray the agonizing decisions Shepard had to make along the way. Still, we wanted to give players the chance to experience an inspiring and uplifting ending; in a story where you face a hopeless struggle for basic survival, we see the final moments and imagery as offering victory and hope in the context of sacrifice and reflection."

I'm happy Casey got around to responding.

However, resolution of our countless decisions? In this version? I want to play his copy of ME3, where any such resolution is apparent. I've spotted none in mine.

"We appreciate your feedback and really do listen to everyone. This was the story we had envisioned from the start of Mass Effect 3. We knew some people weren't going to like it, but that just makes it memorable. We can't compromise our artistic integrity because the endings didn't please everyone. Don't forget to tell us what you liked about ME3 and stay tuned for news of our upcoming multiplayer DLC packs and Take Back Omega!"

Gee, i wonder why it was so easy to predict Bioware's next response 100%.

Guys, come on.

You wanted a response, it wasn't EXACTLY what you wanted, but you got it.

We don't get a response, we rage out and condemn the entire company.

We get a response, we rage out, and condemn the entire comapny.

It's no wonder they are so unwilling to say anything definite here. Chill out, it's progress, keep being respectful and putting on the pressure.

Nothing in this response is new. It literally contains information that has been said elsewhere.

THAT'S why people are pissed. It has nothing to do with standards, beyond a "Actually tell us something new!" one. Which I don't think is too much to ask for.

Ugh. This community is getting ridiculous. Did you expect them to say "Oh hai. Yeah we have a new ending. It'll be available tomorrow. I'll come to your house and download it for you personally."

They're acknowledging us and letting us know that they're listening. From here, you can either politely let Bioware know about your feelings, or you can become the petulant children the gaming media thinks we are.

At any rate, thanks to Bioware for listening and replying. Hopefully, you guys will be true to your word and do right by your fans.

Way to link to two good reviews and not the 100s of sites putting forth very good reasons for disliking the ending. And you didn't talk about the inconsities, plotholes, and definitely not your lies.

Summerized:

1. The game is good
2. The ending is uplifting.
3. Some of you are not satisfied. Got it.
4. Pay us for the coming DLC.

"I'm [insert PR trying to ignore massive, angry elephant in the room]."

This isn't all that amazing. Fairly standard damage control stuff. I would actually be surprised if he went on the record and said, "You know what? Most of you hate us. We done goofed. We'll make it up to you."

That's not how companies roll. If any company would have done something like that I would have thought up until a couple of weeks ago it would have been BW. So wrong.

Expect months of this, people.

Seems like he's completely missing the point if 'closure' is the only issue he sees with these crappy endings. And I like how he characterizes the negative response to the endings as being just "some passionate fans". No, Casey, it's the vast majority of your fan base that is upset.

Could this guy be any more delusional?

Yeh, that's how I read it.

A post filled with doublespeak that amounts to ANOTHER non-answer.

Yeh... Real worthwhile there Bioware.

Though it has demonstrated that he too has also COMPLETELY MISSED THE POINT. Eugh.

Could Chris Priestly or Jessica whatshernameiforget please elucidate the point of the RetakeMassEffect campaign to him for us?
Presuming they get it of course. I am sure they do tho.

EDIT;
With Dragon Age 2 the whole PR thing worked like this...

Denial. "The Game is fantastic! Everyone loves it!"
Obfuscation. "Oh some really passionate fans have gotten a little overzealous. We are aware, but the game is great!"
Avoidance. "The game is great. Really it is. Honestly its brilliant. Here buy some item pack DLCs please."
Dismissal. "The game is brilliant. The haters are just self-entitled fanboys with no idea what they want."
Anger. "This is our best game ever! Theres nothing wrong with it! Stop being self-entitled fanboys!"
Grudging Admission. "Fine there are some minor problems with the game. We are listening!"
Admission. "Okay we made mistakes. We understand where we went wrong, and will do better in DA3. Sorry everyone."

So far Bioware have been thru the Denial and Obfuscation stages of it. And this "announcement" right here is the Avoidance stage
So we still have Dismissal then Anger to get before we get even a tiny admission that maybe the endings might not have worked out.

Depressing in that its quite a bit off; with Dragon Age 2 it took nearly 2 months before we got to that point.

Fortunately however Bioware seemed to be advancing along the PR path a lot quicker than with Dragon Age 2 so we can expect a Dismissive or Angry statement from The Doctors probably sometime next week. And fingers crossed some sort of Admission by the end of the month.

I love how he makes it sound as though 80 bajillion people adore the ending, while only a couple dozen are mildly displeased with it.

Yes,very true. We got formal acknowledgement. And while he did not say anything about the endings, that also goes for the fact that he did not say that there wont be ending-DLC. We dont know what DLC is coming, so there is still hope that our concerns will be addressed.
