Let me start by saying that I agree video games are art.  Over the last few days I've heard the argument that as artists BioWare can not bow to commercial pressure and change the end of their game.

But I can think of two pretty clear examples of how they already have.

First. Did anyone notice an awful lot of repeated exposition.  Frequently characters would re-tell events from the earlier games.  Of course we know why. It was for the people who hadn't played the first two.  The dev's even said in pre-release interviews that the game had been deliberately designed with those people in mind.  So these conversations are not part of the some one's grand artistic visioin.  They're deliberately crafted for a comercial reason.

Second.  Dianna Allers.  This character was created specifically for Jessica Chobot.  She was the voice and the model for the in game character.  Her inclusion in the game was the result of a public twitter campaign.  A character that had a significant role in the game.  Not huge, but she was on the ship from begining to end.  She was a romantic option, and she had her own litte dramatic moment near the end of the game.

So if BioWare can allow their artistic sensibilities to be influenced by new comers why can't they do the same for the dedicated fans?

And if they can bow to a twitter campaign from fans of an internet personality why cant they give a little ground to our movement?
