Hmm. I figure I'll make a small note, too, then.

For an ending to work, for Mass Effect 3... given the nature of the game, it shouldn't feel like the player won a battle, but lost the war. A bunch of the players, I think, didn't even feel like they won the battle, though.

final Paragon/Renegade TIM sequence.

I played through two rather complete playthroughs and couldn't get it.  And by rather complete... I only missed a couple things the first time.  The second time, Aethyta was the only thing I missed, as far as I can tell.

 Dear BW,

Firstly I'd like to thank you for creating the mass effect games. They are for me the best sf drama I've ever had the good fortune to experience. Each game for me was a masterpiece of story telling, and each subsequent game built upon the previous enstallment, in pretty much every way. ME3 is terrific in almost every aspect, building upon what was great in ME2 and also adding back the more rpg style details from ME1. A triumph of enthralling story telling and character development.

However, the last 10 minutes of ME3 in contrast to the rest of the game and series are in my opinion absolutely dire, and an unmitigated failure in story telling. There are huge plot holes, the cut scenes make no sense what so ever, you introduce a critical not to mention pointless character in what is a blatant deus ex machina. Most importantly none of the end sequences are in the slightest bit reflected in the choices i made throughout the entire series. You told us on multiple occasions that our choices would be reflected in the closing sequence. This simply was not the case. I understand and respect artistic integrity but this does not take away from the fact that you quite clearly did not follow up on your promise that our choices would matter in the end. Artistic integrity is also not an excuse for poor story telling nor rushed or shoddy work. The three end sequences which are exactly the same look both rushed and shoddy. They are so far removed from the rest of the game that they could have come from a different game entirely. Those last ten minutes are no where near the standard that I and from glancing at your forums a majority of your fans know you are capable of producing. Please fix this.

I would personally like to see multiple new end sequences, that provides closure to an epic series. These sequences should be different depending on the choices you made throughout the three games.Shepard living or dying should be decided on previous choices as well as galactic readiness and squad loyalty, paragon and renegade alignment could also factor into this as well.

Show what happens to our squad, who survives should be down to your choices and leadership like ME2. Make our paragon and renagade alignment factor into the end sequences.

Do not provide explanations on the current end sequence. It was obviously rushed and not thought through and the last thing I want is filler and nonsense to try and gloss over the fact that you dropped the ball. The expression you can't polish a turd comes to mind!

Remove the star child, it doesn't work and nothing he says makes any sense on any intelligent level.

I would also prefer not to have to pay for a DLC ending which to be honest you should have got right the first time round. I understand that redoing the ending in the manner you promised your fans from the outset is going to cost you both time and money but if you have any artistic integrity you will listen to your fans  and give them what you promised to start with.

I sincerely hope bioware read what I have to say. I feel the 'epic' space battle was a huge disappointment. It was perfectly poised with the largest fleet ever assembled taking on the grim reapers of the universe (no pun intended). I felt this battle lacked a lot of depth, drama and sacrifice. It didn't convey or reinforce the importance of assembling all the major species together. It only showed their contribution by giving more additional ships. It seemed counter-productive that Shepard become the hero of the galaxy, fixing and reconciliation centuries of conflict and disagreements only for the Turians, Krogans, Geth and Quarians to have virtually no screen time when the great battle of the galaxy came around. I thought Hackett's speech was extremely lacklustre and didn't galavinse me at all. I would like Shepard who has now become the hero of the galaxy to deliver a magnificent speech to the entire fleet, one that would stick in my minds rather like the great quotes from human history that will always be remembered. I wanted to actually see why it was so important to reconcilie the Turians and the Krogan. Perhaps have the turians give the krogan some of their own ships to commandeer as an act of peace and progression. Maybe a damaged turian ship is calling for help amidst the battle and a krogan ship sacrifices itself to save the turians? Something that would never have happened before Shepard united the galaxy. More sacrifice, drama and depth. Make us believe the galaxy was worth uniting! I love bioware and the amazing games you deliver but the epic showdown in space was a major disappointment. I do hope you change it and I hope you find my insights constructive. Thank you.

Sorry for only taking advantage of this thread for tiny, virtually meaningless issues, but it was there:

If the view could be pulled back on the workbench so that when modifying the Widow or Black Widow, the end of the gun (plus the potential barrel addon) can be clearly seen, that would be awesome.

I'm sure there's tons of other great ideas in here, so I won't waste anymore time. Thanks.

(Think i've submitted this before but not really sure, believe i've revised it since)
support Indoc theory if destroy ending doesn't actually effect the real world (of Mass Effect) that destroy simply allows you to break the indoctrination,
heres some good ideas:1. If you choose destroy (red ending) you break indoctrination no side effects2. Control or Synthesis ending, you wake up but your watching your body cutting through allied soldiers (Assuming Direct control) you then get Paragon or Renegade Prompts, to break the indoctrination:
Paragon Prompts: you beat up your LI a bit but are able to break indoc before killing them
Renegade Prompts: you break indoc just as you "Stick" your LI with an Omni Blade or equivalent.
Once indoc is Broken you either go straight to fighting Harbinger, or reunite with your friends from ME 1,2, and 3, then you take the fight to harbinger
Will say fleet should take Harbinger to ground and you have to fight a damaged harbinger.
I support hand held Thanix Cannon, or Multiple M-290 Cains

<In support of RuudDevil's Comment a few posts above me>
if the ending gets extended (optional happy ending DLC) <Fingers crossed> Expand on the fleet battles during that, so what if the DLC is HUGE if its EPIC and worth it? SO BE IT! Show the Cooperation that shepard Fostered between the races, or don't if shepard didn't :P Action and Consequence, Krogan supporting turian, Turian Supporting Krogan, Geth and Quarian supporting each other. Feel the Importance, Save the Big speech for Shepard After they win and Start to rebuild. MAKE ME CRY AWESOMENESS!!!! i want my blue babies :P Or Human Children should for whatever reason i chose a Male LI :P

Okay I am not going read the nearly 6k responses to this thread.  Are you listening Bioware?  nearly 6k!  And I am sure that I will touch upon issues brought up by others, however I feel that I should def add my thoughts to what has been said already if for no other reason then cast my vote in this topic.

As an avid hard science fiction reader I was incredibly impressed with Mass Effect 2 in almost every way.  Plot, story, and the universe you created were all amazingly well done (special props for the Quarian society which I thought was brilliant).  And bottom line is you maintained that level of excelence in ME3 . . .  all the way up to the final mission, at which point there were SO many inconsistencies, bad cinematics, and dropped balls (keep your dirty minds to yourself lol) that in my opinion you destroy not only this game but those before it.  Much as Peter Jackson's decision to spend 45 minutes on the last 2 paragraphs of Return of the King (and the fact that he could have used that time for the invasion of the shire) tainted all three movies.  After all if your going to watch the trilogy you want to watch the whole trilogy, not 2 of 3.  And that ending was soooo depressing.

First I'll talk about the directing in the final mission.  Having just completed (again) the final mission in ME2 I believe I have a good idea of Bioware's normal high standards.  This was one of the best ending sequences I've seen in ANY game.  It had strong music in all the right places (important for any movie) good speeches and great combat.  ME3's is a pale imitation of this.
Firstly, we have the combined allied fleet of the galaxy warping into sol.  This moment is the climax of ALL THREE GAMES.  Everything that has been done till now is building to this moment.  And we have muted music for about 5 seconds while we watch this massive fleet warp in.  Then silence.  Granted it is a very large fleet but it does get dull very quickly.  Hacket has a fairly good speach here but I would have put more emphasis on the fact that all the disparat factions are so commited to this battle.
Second, you start a moving battle pushing to the Reaper's beam.  The powerfull music that was such a part of the final push in ME2 is there . . . for about 10 seconds.  Then we have silence.  Granted these are fairly small issues especially when we consider the debacle to come.

As to the story ending I would like to make a point that I made in a previous post before we break it down.  Ben Bova (one of the most prolific hard sf writers of all time) has pointed out that the difference between writing fantasy and writing sf is the fans.  SF fans DEMAND that the story make sense.  He makes several other good points but this is not a book report.

First I'd like to point out that the indoctrination of the Illusive Man was cheap.  As rutheless as he is he's not the complete imbecil he'd have to be to have reaper tech installed in himself.  He's not even a ground troop so he doesn't need the enhancements.  It would have made more sense if one of his operatives had become indoctrinated out in the field and managed to smuggle say, a small reaper artifact, onto the illusive man's base where it could begin to affect his decisions.
Second Shepard confronts the catalyst.  Now I don't care that this thing has chosen to take a child's form.  It has engaged upon the systematic slaughter of intelligent races possibly from the begining of the galaxy.  IT IS EVIL!

Why is Shepard talking to it like he's trying to negotiate options on his new car?
Why does it CARE that Shepard is there?  It is obviously a noncorporeal being that the nearly deceased Shepard cant effect.
Why does the introduction of the crucible force this entity to abandon its bloody goals, and quite amicably lay out Shepard's options?
If the Catalyst is what created the Reapers, relays, and keepers (and it has been on the citadel the whole time) why did the prothean's sabotage of the citadel work?  One would imagine that even if the catalyst hadn't been there when it happened 50k years would be more than enought time to find the problem and sick the keepers on it.

Next the Catalyst informs Shepard that it's purpose is to save the people its killing?  It believes that all AI will eventually kill its creators, and to avoid this its going to have IT'S AI kill you first!?  But don't worry, it fully plans to mulch up a few billion of each race to create some sort of twisted trophy (which seems more like putting a notch in your belt to me) and call it your salvation.  Forgive me but this seems a bit like saying 'Your eventully going to die of old age, so I'm going to cut to the chase and just murder you now.  But don't worry I'm going to stick your body in a nice shiny casket.  Your welcome!'
Nor at any point does Shepard point out that EDI has been incredibly loyal in the last two games, and doesn't deserve to be destroyed based on the behavior of every AI hundreds of thousands of years ago.  Nor does he point out that the Geth have held to their rule that all sentient beings have the right to self determinate for 2k years, and are actually quite peacefull when not being attacked.  Minus the heretics of course but then you don't kill a race because of a few murderers.  Well you can, but once again, THAT'S EVIL!  IT'S CALLED GENOCIDE!

Next let's discuss Shepard's options.  I fully admit that I only finished the game once but there have been several posts in this thread that point out that all three choices end the same.  If this is the case I have to wonder why you bothered to offer a choice?  But setting that aside lets look at the side effects of ending the war.

First, the mass relays are destroyed fracturing the galaxy.  This is quite anticlimactic considering that the races of the galaxy have finally come together for a unified cause, but will now be split up.  This is also cheap as many of the ramifications of your choices up till now are rendered mute.  Who cares if the krogan breed faster than rabbits if they are going to be stuck in there little corner of the galaxy.

Second the Normandy crashes on some unkown moon.  First, why was the Normandy in Hyper?  Weren't they supposed to be fighting the Reapers?  Second why is Shepard's assualt crew on the Normandy?  They were on Earth helping with the push to the reaper beam weren't they?  Considering manpower shortages, and the inherent logistical issues, it doesn't seem reasonable that Joker would have picked them up.  After all isn't the normandy supposed to be helping the fleet?  But leaving these issues aside, the Normandy's crew is now stranded on some alien moon.  After all the relays are now destroyed.  There's not going to be any help coming nor is the normandy going to get very far.  I mean if their FTL drives were that fast they wouldn't need the relays right?

And why does destroying the power conduit on the citadel destroy all the relays?  It seems counter intuitive that trying to control the reapers would destroy the relays.  I was under the impression that the citadel maintained a connection with all of them and that it was this connection you were using to control them.  If the relays get destoyed how are you maintaining control?  And as for synthesis, isn't that what the reapers already are?  How would that even change anything?

To be honest the ending of this game reminds me of the ending of Gangs of New York, in which after all the struggle and turmoil the protaganist goes through we find that none of it mattered.  After all we didnt need the crucible.  We didn't need this massive allied fleet.  All we had to do is talk to one entity that has been under all our noses since before the first game even took place.  Nothing that was done in those games had ANYTHING to do with the final resolution.  Bioware brought this massive amount of fan outrage on themselves.  Not just for the last game (didnt play the first) being so amazingly well thought out and engaging, but for the fact that this game was AMAZING all the way up to the final mission.

I would also like to point out that there has been speculation that bioware is preparing a patch to fix the ending.  That being the case i would take the good ideas this community has given it and run with them.  Bioware cannot change the fact that it made a monumental error with the ending of this game, however they can soften the blow by showing a willingness to listen.  At this point you cannot escape critisism.  Personally I would rather be critisized for being willing to listen, admit I was wrong, and give credit where credit is due, then to be critisized (rightfully so) for being intransigent and short sighted.

It has also been suggested in these forums that bioware would charge for this patch if it should ever be released.   I would like to point out that even Microsoft eventually learned that you can't release an unfinished product and then charge your customers for the fixes.  And this society has a lot less patience with such tactics then it did when they tried it.  Just look at how pissed some people get over standard DLC.  Any fix for this should be free.

There has also been speculation that this is not your last mass effect.  I would point out that I would not buy any future installments of this game considering the dissapointing ending of this one.  If you cannot take the time to create a reasonable ending to your games then there is no point playing them.  Now should you take the time to fix this game's ending I might buy additional mass effect games, but I doubt I'd be getting collectors editions.

Sorry for the incredibly long post, and yes I'm aware that many have said what I'm saying, but I think it's important that EVERYONE that didn't like the ending should post their problems here.   Thanks for your patience and time.

about the ending.

the endings should be diferent and not 3 collors of a blasting wave

joker running away from the batle with people who were on the ground was lame

i got this idea, maybe you could split war assets into 2 types, fighting assets and research ones.
with research asset high enough, the people building the crucible would find a way to take down the reapers shields, makinkg them easier to be killed (research assets could be found on the search missions in the galaxy, also you could add the data recovered from a dead cerberus agent in ME2 as something that increase it, and the prothean silver sphere that we find in a DLC from ME2).

at the time we meet the catalyst, he would give the 3 original choices and then, depending if people in crucible figured out the shield thing, sheppard could have a paragon/renegade option to try his way, if the research assets isnt high enough it would fail.

Even with the shield disruptor we would need to get enough fighting assets to actualy beat the reapers
in this ending mass relays wouldnt be destroyed and depending on how many war assets we have maybe even sheppard could stay alive
imo this could be a 4th option when we find the catalyst

many of us would like to be able to choose ME2 squad mates in ME3

i dont know if i'm the only one that noticed but, at the end of ME1 i choosed anderson to be a councilor, why undina is councilor in ME3?

we should be able to see the assets we got in action(like the krogans on ground fighting, would be realy cool to see the destiny ascencion using the main gun and the normandy too, the elcor with heavy wepons on their back, overall stuff that show us our choices changed things)

and most of all, i(and i believe most of us) would like to see an epilogue showing how the races are rebuilding, what our friends are doing, and if our sheppard is alive show what he is doingafter the fight.

those are some of my ideas, i'm not very good to put them in a text so i'm sorry if something is not clear enough, also sorry for bad english

I really like this ending, and it works with the ending already out,and could be handled with static shots and text
http://arkis.deviant...ILERS-289902125

To me though the biggest change I want is the option to argue more.I've proven the Star-Child wrong, and I want to rub it in his face before pointing to the empty blackness and saying "If you leave NOW,and never return,Harbinger.I will LET the Reapers live."

I've been thinking about this for a while, and now I think I finally have a coherent version of it that I can post here. I'll try to keep it short.

I think Bioware's real problem lately seems to be that they don't understand what it is people like about their games. It's a quality that I actually appreciate on some level because it stops their games from feeling like soulless, focus-tested, manufactured BS that panders to the perceived preferences of some "target audience" as defined by marketing strategy. They really just do what they think is cool, and very often they get it right, sometimes they get it wrong, and sometimes, as with the ME3 ending, they fall flat on their faces.

My take on why Bioware games are popular is this: emotional attachment. The overall plotlines are rarely ever anything but adequate. It's usually pretty cliché stuff. Dragon Age and Mass Effect are both variations of essentially the same idea, and it's not a very original idea. It's in the details and in the characters that the writing shines. The Bioware writers manage to take these adequate, but not very original plot ideas and make them resonate emotionally, mostly by populating them with believable characters that the audience cares about. That's not all there is to it - the political structure of the ME universe is fantastic, as well - but it's a big chunk of the appeal. They make us care.

And then we get an ending that is completely detached from all of the things we care about and instead, no matter what we do, destroys them. But in an oblique way that makes it seem as though the writers practically forgot all these characters we care about were there in the first place. That they all got plunged into a galactic dark age is just our interpretation, after all (hence the clamoring for "closure" - we want to know what happened to all these characters because that's why we played the damn game in the first place.)

So basically, my feedback about the writing is this, Bioware: you don't have grand, mind-blowingly original story ideas. But you do have incredibly well-defined characters with believable motivations and feelings that we care about. More than any other videogame developer on the planet. That's why so many people think Bioware games are special. So focus on that. It's called character-driven writing. You're professional writers, so you probably know more about it than I do. You just don't seem to realize that it's what you're good at.

The Squad Selection console in the Captain's Cabin would be much more useful if it also allowed for equipping allies, modifying their weapons, and managing their abilities. Currently, the only place where any of those things can be done is right before a mission, which limits that functionality greatly.

Also, the ending is very incomplete and leaves me with a lot of unanswered questions, which I go into in another post.

Just my feedback.

After stumbling upon the Reaper name Easter Eggs; I'm honestly surprised you didn't expand on that aspect. (I'm referring to the named Reaper troops; such as the Jack Phantom, the Morinth Banshee, etc). It would definitely up the bittersweet ending factor for a bad end, having to fight with unsaved allies.

Just a thought.

Bioware was going for a "bittersweet" ending, and it was surely bitter. I didn't catch much sweet in my 3 playthroughs. Reguardless of how many assets I had, 8k+ one time around, I would get the same 3 endings, with the same 3 scenes with various colors.

Much of this post will be about my feelings on our ability to write our own story, and examples why that is true. Suggestions are there but you actually have to read. I will put a TL;DR version at the bottom. I may use chance/choice interchangeably.

My suggestion is to not "clarify" your ending, but simply REMAKE it. It's broken, it really is. All of my choices had so much impact in 2.99 of the games in the trilogy, and then the ending happens. ME1 there was saving the council, sacrificing your squadmember, talking Saren down, heck even our romances had some interesting input. ME2 used all of those in its creation, in the very beginning they talk about the council, saving them or not, Miranda asks you about your mission on Virmire too. You then have to make countless choices to gain the loyalty of your squadmembers so they even had a CHANCE at being alive. CHANCE being my concern. After we gain their loyalty they can STILL die! We had a choice to stay faithful to our LI fromt he first, or persue a new one. If you had Lair of the Shadow Broker you can be faithful and meet up with Liara (Excellent DLC, the dossiers are such a simple and amazing thing). We have to make the choice to send them where, and to do what. If we chose the wrong task for the wrong person, they would likely end up dead. Then at the end you can keep the human-proto reaper alive or destroy it to keep it out of the Illusive Man's hands. All throughout ME3 our choices from the first 2 games mattered. The genophage being destroyed/saved on Virmire, Wrex being alive. Then on top of all that we are given a choice to sabotage the cure behind Wrex / Wreaves back! Kaiden / Ashley being alive. Darn near all of your squadmates could be dead from ME2. We unite the Krogan and the Turians, which is a massive accomplishment! We unite the Geth and Quarians, effectivley ending a 300 year old war. We even get the Asari and Salarians to help out. Then when we get to the end we are given 3, count them 3 CHOICES to choose from. They are all the same, albeit depending on your assets Earth is destroyed/extra people die. We are given 3 CHOICES that are always sad, unsatisfying, unclear, and much unlike the entire series. This is our story, every Shepard is unique and makes specific CHOICES that have various impacts on their story. I think everyone of us wants the CHANCE to have an overwhelmingly bittersweet ending with a CHANCE to have a less sad, maybe not fairytale ending, but Shepard to be reunited with his squad and LI. The people he's been fighting with and for throughout this entire trilogy. We've become so attatched to these characters we want the CHANCE to be with them.

I think that it's safe to assume that we, the players, do not want 3 color-coded endings to be forced upon us. It's just unlike the series. We make the choices, not hologram/space-god/starchild kid.

TL;DR

I want multiple endings, like we were promised. A few bittersweet endings like Bioware wanted. And a few better endings where we can be reunited with our squadmembers and LI, having them on a random planet when they were fighting with me makes no sense.

Give us, the players, the CHANCE to finish our story like we wanted!

The characters, the squad-mates, are the best thing about the game. I honestly care about many of them more than any other fictional character, ever. We need to know what happens to them.

For the ending, I believe you should go with the Indoctrination Theory.
If you fought it off, Shep wakes up and somehow manages to continue the fight(maybe after an aid station, David could be there if you saved him on Omega).
Perhaps, if have high enough EMS, the fleet drives off Harbinger and gives you time to recover a little. You make a short push through the enemy forces Harbinger left at the Conduit(With a little help from the alien forces you've assembled).
On The Citadel, I think it would be great if your Citadel Defence Force level affects how many survivors you run into, maybe offer some small help, a heavy weapon perhaps.
I also think there should be something special for having over 7000 EMS(Which I do in one game). A happy ending, little blue babies, maybe an adopted quarian? Nah, I don't think Tali's ready for kids yet.

This has nothing to do with the ending, just some stuff I'd like to see in future DLC.
I'd like to find out what was happening with Haestrom's sun.

class Specific Missions. They could all happen in the same place of course, just with different stories, cutscenes, characters. (In LotSB as an Adept, when Vasir and Shep went through the window, I always yelled at my TV, "Hit her with your biotics!" I figured I should have been at least as badass as her) Infiltraitor could be a stealth/sniper based mission(An assassination?) Things that require your skill set.

More choice in multiplayer packs. For example;
Assault Pack(With rail amps, rockets, a chance for medi-gel, one Assault Rifle, and one Pistol or Shotgun),
Character Pack(With armor mods, shield boosts, a chance for medi-gel, and one character or character upgrade),
Operative Pack(With ammo mods, ammo packs, a chance for medi-gel, and one Sniper Rifle or SMG)

Thats all I can think of for now. Thank you all at Bioware for listening.Posted Image

First off, I love Bioware  I think all their games are extremely well made, especially when compared to offerings from other developers.  The only games I have finished since the first time I finished ME1 are ME2, DA:O, DA2, and ME3.  I have played many others and been unable to complete them since the story became so boring that I just couldn’t stand playing it anymore.  So, on to ME3.  I thought the game as a whole was outstanding, the multiplayer was fun, but it has it’s issues.  Most notably was the ending.  Now, I completely understand ending it this way, I have no problem with Shepard dying, nor did I have a problem with the galaxy being decimated, these were things I expected to happen.  I also don’t believe that the ending was Indoctrination/Dream.  If it was someone would have leaked it by now.  The fact was this was just the way it was.  To everyone who is demanding a new ending, it is a free country and you have the right to do that.  And to the people ridiculing those demanding an ending they like, shame on you.  They spent their money, they can try and get new content if they want.  And kudos to Bioware for actually graciously accepting that criticism and promising to offer additional content to appease these fans (dirty look to Infinity Ward).  Yes this game is art, but it is also a product offered up for customers who should be granted a voice.  Da Vinci didn’t paint the Mona Lisa for the masses, he painted it because he wanted to.  Bioware makes games for the masses, to earn a profit, why shouldn’t they attempt to maximize their profit by offering up content players want?  So, as a fan there are certain things I would love to see in ME3 DLC, and I am by no means demanding things, just asking Bioware to come on here and clarify these questions or making DLC for them.  Final note, I will have no problem paying for any DLC for ME3, I love the universe.  Another final note (haha)  please don’t bash Bioware, they are still the best developer out there.

Mass Effect 3;
1.  Did the destroy option destroy all machines or just Ais, such as the Reapers, Geth, and EDI?
2.  Why is there human lettering in the Citadel’s bowels?
3.  Why is Joker leaving the fight, with the squad mates you had when Harbinger blew you up?
4.  Can we get a better reveal of Tali’s face?  Something like this……
http://www.google.co...:51&tx=58&ty=58
5.   Some sort of epilogue, even in text boxes like Dragon Age: Origins, that explains the fates of the species and all the people we met along the way
6.   Funky renegade/paragon choices being flip flopped at end game?  However this may be explainable due to the choices in Legion: House Divided, where brainwashing was paragon, and destroy was renegade.
7.  Why do the control/synthesis options destroy the relays?
8.   Lastly, with any DLC could we please get a journal change?  Get some more detail in the journal entries for missions?  And If possible, more Hub areas to explore, there have been less and less since ME1.

Things I would like to see resolved from Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2:
1.  Whatever happened to Corporal Tombs?
2.  What happened to Billy (excaped prisoner from Purgatory)?
3.  What is the relic you can get on your cabin table in Mass Effect 2?

I romanced Garrus in ME2, and then lost him in the suicide mission... my ME3 experience was... bleak.

The quick of it is that Garrus was mentioned in all of TWO places in the
entire game.... the first time was when you fought your way through the
Turian moon, Liara asks what you think Garrus would think and you say
something along the lines of he would be kicking ass.... I definitely
teared up a bit there.

The second time is when you have the
second bad dream and Liara asks you who are the ones you've lost that
you are thinking of.... and your only option of naming a particular name
is Garrus, at which point I cried more than I've cried in years.

Other
than that... not a single ****ing word or nod to what a crazy thing it
was for him to get taken away by the god damn collector bugs.  I would
have even been okay with being admonished for ****ing up so bad by
someone like James or what not... but no, not a word from anyone.

I should
mention that I played the entire series for the first time this week
without a clue as to how BioWare "builds" games or as to what to expect
in terms of choices and outcomes... so I played ME2 with out doing half
the loyalty quests... I thought it was more of an optional "choose which
character you want on your adventure".... I didn't realize the loyalty
quests WERE the adventure.... so by the time the suicide mission came
around I lost Jacob, Mordin, Zaeed, Garrus, and Tali.

Needless to say my ME3 experience was extremely bleak...

I created
Garrus inspired armor that I wore through out the entire game... and by
the end of it all, I was thankful to be in a position to die for the
sake of the galaxy, to atone for my mistake of putting Garruss in the
position to be killed.

I just wish there had been more of a nod
for people like me who decided to play such a game where Garrus was both
romanced, and then taken away... ME3 felt so empty to me beyond the
fact that a lot of it was just filler for people who had saved their
entire squad (though I DID really enjoy Padok!).

Anyhow... here's my youtube rant on the subject :

....
and my armor, blue for the armor Garrus wore, white detail for the
color of his face, and red for the blood that was on my hands for not
being more prepared on that mission  : http://i.imgur.com/Y9Vvd.png

...
and apparently I am in an extremely limited (if not completely
alone) minority of which I guess the developers simply didn't consider
anyone would do a play through taking such a choice so seriously... I'm
not even sad about the ending.... I feel like I played a game that was
built for someone else completely due to the lack of resolution I had
over my particular fringe choice that didn't even have anything to do
with Paragon or Renegade... but rather ****ing up in the loyalty quests.
I guess my ultimate in game result is that people just didn't care...
which still feels so weird to me after how big a part of Garrus was in
my ME2 gaming experience.  I just feel like the fact they dropped the
ball with the end, and with the Tali photoshop fiasco doesn't even shock
me in the least, because they didn't resolve my gameplay experience in
even the slightest... I mean, it was extremely touching being able to
say that one line "I miss Garrus"... because I DID... but I dunno...
everything else just felt so empty.

Anyhow... for those curious,
because yes, I realize I am in the extreme minority... my final
squadmates through out the all of the game were only James, EDI, Liara,
and Javik.... I chose to not have Kaiden on board because the way I role
played, I couldn't trust him after not trusting me with Cerburus.

Needless
to say I still enjoyed my gaming experience... I got to live a much
darker Mass Effect experience than even those who chose Renegade
(I blundered with Miranda and the Quarians as well... dead and dead)...
I just felt like... I dunno, BioWare thought of a lot of things, but
when it came to someone like me who lost so much while trying to do the
right thing... the plot arc for my character just felt empty towards the
end... especially when I was "rallying the troops" and had to give an
inspired speech to my four squad mates and a much of random soldier
place holders where all my friends should have been.

I was under
the illusion that ME3 was going to be built for everyone regardless of
their successes and failures, but instead I felt like I got the scraps
of a story for the people who had more success in ME2.

Just my two credits.

So, after further review, I'm utterly convinced that the last battle (after you get blasted by the Reapers) is a battle against Indoctrination. There's just too much evidence towards that, and I think it's absolutely genius. I've already posted on this forum before knew of this, and felt I had to change up my approach. The ending, and the entire game, and series, is brilliant. However, I will state after fulling believing in the Indoctrination battle, that I still want to know what happens afterwards. Regardless of whether I survived (took the breath) or didn't, I would love to know what's actually happening with everyone else. Because if this is true, then they're still fighting the good fight, and I would love to see that. War Assets throwing down, Admiral Hacket leading the assualt, your squad mates taking it the the Reapers, etc. And what about the Crucible? What's that doing? I personally would love this to all have been a test. To see if your will, the player's will, was strong enough to break the Indoctrination. I would love for the content to take place after the wake up (if you got it). I know having a mandatory decision to get content is a little risky, but if you don't catch on and are indoctrinated, then your story is over, the Reapers win. However, I would like to wake up, dust off my injured body, maybe with some help from my teammates, mourn over those we lost, and take the fight to the Reapers one last time on Earth. Have the Crucible be a device that takes down Reaper sheilds (Sovereign went down pretty quick after losing its sheilds) and have the allied forces bring them down. Or maybe have the Crucible be destroyed, never really knowing what it does, and have the allied forces fight regardless. Also, I would love to have a final confrontation with Harbinger. A final boss fight to end all boss fights. Epic and sweeping. Maybe in the Normandy flying around, ducking and weaving, giving Joker a moment of greatness. There would be such a feeling of justice were the fight to be taken to the Reapers and seen taken to the Reapers. Where's the Illusive Man? Is Anderson really gone? How about the 2 I took with me on the final push? As much as I love the ending, I still am left wanting more closure. And I feel that as a blockbuster title (an amazing one at that) it needs to end in a blockbuster fashion. With a great fireworks display next to great character moments (the latter being the thing that made many fall in love with the series). I'm sure you guys have something big planned and at this point are probably excited to share it. I just wanted to add my input with the new found perspective. Thanks again for listening to your fans. It's incredibly brave. Thank you all.

DON'T CLARIFY THE ENDING. You'd just emphasize the weakest point of the trilogy.

Make an ALTERNATIVE ENDING DLC. Ditch Casper, space magic, and the winter space rip-off. Bring back Harbinger. Create an epilogue for all major races and characters.

The characters, the squad-mates, are the best thing about the game. I honestly care about many of them more than any other fictional character, ever. We need to know what happens to them.

Thanks

Cheers, Bioware!

When you "fix" the "broken" ending, please leave the original endings in the game somehow. Please those who like the endings and those who don't all at once.

Thanks! Keep up the good work!

In order for a collaboration between the devs and the fans to work, I need you guys to CONTINUE being constructive, and organizing your thoughts. I know where to look, but I need you to help me by contributing to the dialogue.

The developers are looking for what *you* think. Emphasis on *you*. If you see a piece of video, a pie chart, or a flow chart online that helps articulate your point, then by all means reference it. But the best way to make your argument is not with a link... it's with a statement. Explain *why* you think that video/text/chart/poll has validity. Use it as supporting evidence, sure, but *you* should make *your* case.

Let me put it another way... this isn't about showing the developers that there is a multiplicity of dissatisfied voices... it's about coming up with the widest and deepest swath of ideas.

Indoctrination Theory does not cut it for me.  By accepting the Indoctrination Theory, I would be accepting the endings as is when there should've been more.

This sums everything up:

Now,

Watch this: http://www.youtube.c...hKW7498#t=666s
Read this: http://social.biowar...index/9828201/1

Add them but don't remove current endings.  Those who actually do like the ending the way they are can have them.

***

There were too many scenes with chasing the boy.  Got old and annoying when there's nothing to interact with.  Should've changed it up to have the squad members and/or other NPCs that did die to appear instead of just hearing their voice or even flashbacks of their final moments.

***

A cut scene with Ashley or Kaiden after bringing them to Eden Prime, seeing them standing in front of the memorial.  And while we're on the subject, more converstaions with them

***

A few more scenes with ME2 characters that's not Garrus or Tali especially if one of them is your LI.

***

Journal needs to be cleaned up, split to Mission and Assignments with Priority missions under the Mission tab and side quests under Assignments.

***

After spending hours/days number crunching, the highest total thus far for single player alone is around 3800 EMS.  The best ending for me requires more EMS then 3800.  The comment of "You do NOT have to play multiplayer to get the best single-player endings." needs to mention that you would have to play " Mass Effect Infiltrator " for that to work so HA-HA! sucks to be you people with no iOS platforms.

***

More conversation options.  Where's my neutral selection?  Where's my addtional LI scenes?  Where's the paragon interrupt comforts?  Why couldn't I give Tali a hug?  Or Liara right after hearing the screams on Thessia?  Or a pat on the shoulder to Joker?

***

A scene should've been added with Shepard and the Memorial on the Normandy.

Shepard has the option of
a) Ignoring it
B) Pausing in front of it but keep going
c) Reading the names as a form of mourning

If choose to read the names, if any of the LI Shepard pursues is/are on the list Shepard would stop at the name and just trace it with a flashback.  Once all the names are read, step back, give a respectful salute, and walk away looking a little less haunted.  A few seconds later, gets intercepted by a crew member with a datapad for Shepard and they walk away discussing something player can't hear.

***

Watch this: http://www.youtube.c...AhKW7498#t=666s
Read this: http://social.biowar...index/9828201/1

Add them.  Those who actually do like the ending the way they are can still go ahead with the endings we have now.

I can sum up my feelings of Shepard's ending with words of LC Ashley Williams: "I think it's bull**** I'm
getting railroaded out of here.
"

Don't explain the ending gives us different endings - Other Choices.  No one likes being railroaded straight into the jaws of death especially when other options are available.

ME2 is probably my favourite game that I've ever played. It didn't have anything majorly wrong with it, and it was exceptional in a lot of ways. One of my favourite parts was the Thane romance, I connected with his character more than I had any other character in any other game. The story involving him was very moving, in my opinion.

I knew that there was a good possibility that Thane would die in ME3 (even though there were some hints of hope leading up to the release). However, I think that his part in ME3 was lacking. It is ok that he had to die, but I don't like that my Shepard (who romanced him) could not tell him that she loved him. I don't like that she did not mourn him, and I did not like that none of the squadmates offered any condolences. When he died she did not cry and she kept too much space between them. If someone she loved really was dying I feel that she would act differently. I also felt that her one real conversation with Thane in the hospital was a bit shallow. She is flirting with him but I didn't get the sense that she really deeply cared for him (like she did in ME2).

There are other things I didn't like as much about the game, such as less use of the conversation wheel and less conversation options (it felt a bit less personal). The journal was a bit frustrating when it doesn't tell you where to go or whether you've found what you were supposed to find or not yet. The explanation for why the reapers exist didn't really make sense to me (synthetics created to kill organics in order to save organics from being killed by synthetics...). It seems like there would be a more logical method of ensuring that synthetics didn't take over than creating reapers.

Nonetheless, I think that a lot of things were done right with ME3, I found the combat fun and challenging, the Tuchanka mission was amazing, the soundtrack is great, I liked EDI and Javik, and there were a lot of memorable/emotional moments.
