 HI,

I may have arrived a little late to this party but I couldn't find another forum for it.

I agree with the general dissatisfaction regarding the ME endings and won't continue that now.

I have one request  and I am really and truly begging now Bioware - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE allow me to change the names of my characters. (I know about the 'gibbed editiors' - they don't necesarily work on my system).:crying:

In amongst all the brilliance of your creations, surely this one bugbear is not beyond your team's expertise?

Thank you

Change the sparring scene between Shepard and Vega.

No one blocks punches like that except boxers. Why? Because boxers where massive f-ing gloves thats why! Shep and Vega are not wearing boxing gloves.

When they lift their arms up to protect their faces they leave a massive hole in which a large fist could fit. Since we assume they know hand to hand combat, they should not be doing this. Hell its the first thing we teach to the new students here.

Also, no one punches a head with a closed fist unless wearing gloves, you will break your hand or wrist, they use open palm strickes. Anyone worth their salt in hand to hand combat knows, if its hard hit it with something soft (aka, don't bare knuckle smack a skull, it will hurt him but it will hurt you), if its soft hit it with something hard.

Oh and change the ending or some sh*t like that.

Can we get a varying "rebuilt"choice for our ending choice
For example not just being knocked out and one sharp breath for destroy
The EMS would have to be high enough however

Got in a lot of fist fights growing up.  Used fist plenty, never broke hand.  Open hand punch good though, too.

What was the point of Bioware making this thread if they're not gonna change the ending?

I think if a new ending were to be created, which is what should happen, the ending should be less like Deus Ex and more like The Matrix trilogy. ME had better, less preachy/boring dialogue, but Matrix trilogy had a way better ending.

Harbinger should fail to understand the human spirit of selfless sacrifice that Shepard embodies, the previous indoctrination subjects were either backed into a corner where they felt there was no way out, or so power hungry they were blind to logic. Shepard doesn't suffer from either of these things, (as Shep isn't a tragic character, Shep doesn't have the fatal flaws necessary to justify the downer ending presented in the released ending, which is a possible reason why the tragic ending seems so out of place.)

I think you can keep almost all of the regular ending, because if the very end is changed it can negate that. Shep does everything the same up until when Shep makes the choice between the red, green, and blue endings. Green and blue should have Shep turn around last second (if Shep's war assets are high enough or something like that) and he says some epic speech in refusal. If he chooses the red, god childs voice becomes much closer to that of harbinger, and he gets angry and yells at shepard (could be same as he would do after shepards speech during the green or blue endings) and harbingers final speech has plenty of potential for epicness.

After the speech shepard wakes up on earth (harbinger has carved out a crater that sets up somewhat of a final area, the point is isolation from the other forces.)
What should happen: Epic boss battle ensues (you know, like the kind that essentially every gamer ever likes as an epic conclusion to a video game? The kind that had been in 2/3 of the games in the ME franchise. Coincidentally the two that had good endings. huh.)
What could happen: cinematic boss fight where you see shep trying to resist Harbinger, and when it seems all is lost-

low war assets: Shepard uses one final herculean effort to sever the mental link between him and harbinger, essentially destroying the organic parts of shep and harbinger. in a final epic sacrifice, shepard ends the reaper threat, because his willpower allowed the reapers weakness to be exposed.

high war assets: harbinger is taunting shep as it seems all is lost. Shepard stumbles, but at that moment, around the edges of the crater, your war assets start showing up, which shows you that, you know, they actually meant something to the fight. One by one they fight together and take down harbinger. harbinger is fried and the day is saved.

After the endings i described (to wrap everything up)

Low war assets: Shepards body is seen lying in the crater. Shepards squad runs to it, they then realize shep is dead. They mourn, camera pans back, shows all the destruction, then shows soldiers from the final conflict coming out of where they were dug in, incredulous, and skeptical of whether or not it is truly over. They realize it is, celebration ensues, flash to different squadmates, who have varied reactions but are generally positive because they knew how shepard felt about his fight, and that it was a sacrifice he would have made a million times over. Flash forward in time, (not too far, but to a time period that is shown, not like Buzz Aldrin post ending which took place at some point that is a mystery.) Shepard has a memorial in/near the crater. And narrative starts, i think it should be liara, essentially bringing back the shepard time capsule. (since the galaxy survives she doesn't need it for future cycles, because of her archaeological background it makes sense that she would donate it for history's sake. A group of people are visiting the monument to pay their respects (should be on the anniversary of the final fight), a recording plays at the monument for visitors, which is liaras recording on shep. As it is finishing playing, a lone figure in the crowd should linger as the others leave, it is one of your squadmates, i think it should be liara, as the recording speaks its final words, liara says them along with it. she says something about missing shepard, garrus/other squadmates show up and says that they miss him too. Squadmate reunion ensues, (makes sense because it is the anniversary.) Some cool ending dialogue, not sure what though.

High war assets: many forces rush in to see shepard, shepard lays on the ground, it seems shep is dead. The fried armor makes it impossible to check for a pulse, so some member of your squad, from any of the three games, carries shep out of the crater. as they walk slowly with shepards potentially lifeless corpse in their arms, the rest of the soldiers cheer in respect for their presumed fallen hero. flash forward to the hospital, shepard wakes up, garrus is there, his trademark sarcasm would be great here. He explains to shep, and thereby the gamer, what happened in the aftermath. Then he says that shep is cleared to leave the hospital and invites him to get a drink. Rest of sheps crew is at the bar, reunion starts, the that goes silent and all that is heard is shepard doing an ending speech about how they plan to rebuild and whatnot.

Obviously these ideas need fleshed out a bit more, it was a bit stream of consciousness, but having shep live or shep die as opposed to not even knowing i think is much better, and the other point is to show that sheps actions and/or sacrifice had a real impact on the people he was trying to save.

Better face for tali and also a damn ending that actually makes sense with high enough war assests destroying reapers and no need for the star child

I think you have to kill star child off along with whole end or rewrite the whole game to properly setup ending. The little bit of foreshadowing was insufficient to get anyone (most anyone) to buy into a magic entity never before seen. If foreshadowing had been sufficient we wouldn't be having these discussions.

Epilogues please. Proper ones, with a bit of effort put in. Remove that ****** problem involving synthetics versus organics the glowing serpent talks about, it has no place in this story.

Then I might accept it.

Far too late to make it good. The only way you're doing that is by rewriting the entirety of Priority: Earth to fit the 90 hour story you've just told, or by rewriting the entire 90 hour story to fit your bullsh*t ending.

I think the star child should be removed and replace with harbinger or something, oh and please retcon the Normandy scene at the end. I can live with the ending, but that Normandy scene was extremely stupid.

I doubt my words will even be noticed. After all, the fans are too many and Bioware is too few people. Worse, my approval rating of EA Games has already spiraled as far down as it can thanks to The Sims 3 undoing everything that was good about The Sims 2.

But I digress...

I believe that The Night Mammoth has the basics covered. I can tell that Priority: Earth was meant to be a surprise plot twist, but its turning out to be a very unpleasant surprise. Even worse, the whole ending seems lazy.

We've just spent roughly $200 and played these games for many hours... and there isn't a shred of sentimentality to the ending cut scenes... or a reflection of the many unique choices we made that affected the galaxy at large. In fact, all ending options basically scream to us loyal fans, "Your choices didn't matter at all, punk! You get our version of the end of the story instead!"

If nothing we did over the course of all three games really matters in the end, than why did we bother?

Bring back overheating mechanic and combine with thermal clips:

Example:

Carnifex can fire 6 shots one after another before overheating.

When it does overheat, you have 2 options
1. wait for it to cool down
2. pop a thermal clip that you draw from a universal pool to immediately cool it down.

make it so that the cool down time is long enough so that if you were in a pinch, you would be forced to use the clip.
Just not so long that it's as if you never brought back the heating system.

Also, give us a way to play the multiplayer "survival modes" using our single player shepard and squad.

Sometimes, I don't want to progress the story, I just want to kill hordes of things running at me without having to wait for the next storyline point.

And without having to worry about things like how weak my character is how bad the host for my multiplayer match is.

Most of what I want to see has been mentioned several times over.

And it might be small but if the Reapers were going to turn everyone into more Reapers then what was the point of the Collectors? The ending made ME2 pointless.

Suggested changes, in order of decreasing importance:

High importance:
  • -Give players a way to visit all characters quickly and efficiently for listening to their dialogue. I don't like having to make a tedious circuit of the Citadel and Normandy after every mission.
  • -I don't like how in the dialogue wheel, options that you have already heard are not grayed out or otherwise marked. This is very distracting to me to keep track in my head of what I've heard already.
  • -I don't like Shepard going into cover automatically (such as sprinting into cover). I would like the option of "only enter/exit cover when you press A". Reason: if you're trying to sprint away from danger, sometimes you get stuck in cover.
  • -there were two Reaper boss fights that were extremely frustrating to me (normal difficulty): Reaper on Tuchanka, Reaper on Rannoch. Give some feedback, warning, and/or knock-down, instead of instant death.
Moderate/Low importance:
  • -I would like more biotic-focused squadmates (did not buy DLC).
  • -the heavy weapons: I want to use them much more often.
  • -the Reapers chasing you upon exploration: I would remove this entirely.
  • -bring back Mass Effect 1 style "film grain" visual effect as an option.

One thing that annoyed me and I believe is completely fixable is the constant "musical discs" playing on xbox 360. I don't if PC and PS3 are the same way, but with ME2 you only had to switch discs when you started the second half of the game (Maybe one other time after that).

This game is constantly prompting me to switch from disc 1 to 2, back to 1, then back to 2, then back to 1 again. I'm not even halfway through my second play-through and I've already switched discs about 6 times. For the next game it would be much better to make it simpler, either have one disc, or have the first half of the game on disc one, second half on disc 2.

Go with the indoctrination theory. Make it so we face off with Harbinger for real this time. And make the crucible a realistic construct some sort of blast that weakens the Reapers. This allows us to use our EMS to determine how the rest plays out. This would be perfect

OMG I would love to face harbinger. I want it to know that I (shepard) was the one that brought it to its knees. That a mere human took down not just one reaper, but all reapers.
