First off, I have to say I feel for the devs, because I really do appreciate their work. I love(d) the ME series, they have done great work, put time and thought into this series. ME3 is everything so far I had hoped for. Up until the point I hit the end of ME3. It basically killed off the urge to replay any of the games. I also see no reason to buy anything else right now, be it books, comics, dlcs. It just makes no sense to me. Because it’s not worth it anymore in my eyes. I got burned, badly, like a kid touching the hot stove.

The writers/devs have created something incredible with Shepard and all the characters. They go deep into my soul, I care about them. I can forge my own character by my own decisions - choices. And this is what matters most to me: Choice. Which was taken away from me.

As for the current “problem”, it’s easy to solve, change the ending. Add real CHOICES. Make it matter.

- Include the war assets, let me see where they are and what they do
- some more side missions when acquiring said war assets
- Include a boss fight, like Harbinger
- remove the Normandy crash scene. Joker doesn’t abandon Shepard like this
- alter the starchild or remove it completely
- choices throughout the three games have to matter at the end, I want to see the results at the end battle!

Add endings that range from a total failure (think ME2 endings), Reapers won/Galaxy/Shepard dead, to a somewhat good ending Galaxy saved/Shepard alive with LI.

Ending Shepard’s story does NOT have to mean death. In my eyes this is a lazy way out. And it’s NOT a happy ending either. It’s war, there is no 100% happiness. Shepard comes out with terrible scars, no matter how “good” the ending will be, it’s still bittersweet and full of sacrifices, pain and loss. (my own grandfather made it through WW2, with a good ending and in his last year of life I still could see the scars of war on his soul and body!)

Our choices have to matter. It all comes down to having choices - which were always the core element of the ME games.

I’m here to fight for my Shepard (sounds somewhat selfish, I know), who deserves better than that after all those years. He got the earth background and after this war is finished, he would go and help orphaned children. That’s how I see my character.

Thanks for reading and listening.

Keep in mind, mistakes happen. They can be corrected, they can be forgiven. I can forgive.

And to be honest, I’d even pay for a good and better made ending dlc. It needs work and resources.

PS: I wish we all wouldn’t have to sit here and think about this but would be on our second or third playthrough. And when reaching the end, leave our pc, throw a fist into the air and yell, “YES, I DID IT!” Like I did after Suicide Mission and at the end of ME1. That’s what I miss most.

I loved the Mordin solus heroic martyr ending!  That whole plotline was beautiful.
I loved the quarian-geth plotline, really well done done.
I loved the combat.
I loved the bottle shooting with Garrus on top of the citadel!  Garrus is so awesome.  Little things like that  really make this game great.  There are other great moments that I can't think of right now. Oh! The ending with Thane was very touching and well done.

Some stuff you could maybe change if you want:

I would like to see more variety in the possible endings.

It would like to see the effect of the choices I made throughout the series once I get to earth.
Basically I just want to feel that my choices mattered at the end.

This is kind of a small thing, but I would like to have a chance to save Morinth somehow.
After getting her email in the beginning I was looking forward to meeting her all game, and her resolution was kind of disappointing to me.

I'd pay for the DLC in any of that.
You can DLC charge me almost as much as you want if you change some things that happen on Earth and the very end. Mass Effect is kind of a big deal and it would be worth it to me.

Thanks for listening to us!  <3

You know those "RESTART MISSION ____" save files? Can the game not overwrite the files with autosaves but instead allow them to accumulate? What I currently do is make a manual save as soon as I can in the mission but it'll be nice (after I complete the game) to be able to replay a mission with a totally different weapon/party setup while not missing out on the beginning cutscene of the mission.

1) Different endings that are indeed different.
Let our choices count towards the end. It's what you gave us in ME1 and ME2, it's what you advertised to do for ME3, it's what you've promised us in several interviews, it's why I bought the game, it's where it all went wrong.
We all knew this would be Shep's last story, but we would not have minded to see him retiring somewhere nice and call it a day. Instead, you decided to destroy - no, obliterate - everything regardless of choice or alignment, including the replayability of the entire franchise. Please give us a paragon and renegade ending, several of each - depending on preparation and choices from ME1 and ME2. Do what you said you would do, what we've paid for to experience. Now we feel kinda cheated.

The Normandy's last flight is the biggest loophole in contemporary gaming and I can't understand that someone gave a green light for that. Makes no sense even without my squadmate magically being on board a ship that hits a relay in the middle of an all-or-nothing battle.

The Catalyst also makes no sense. How could previous cycles possibly know about him? Wasn't I the first organic to see it? How does anyone know it exists or what it is called, let alone what it could do so they could make a weapon out of it. Someone has had to know enough about it to know what it could do. It's obviously not organic itself, so why should it care about organic life? Not to mention its argumentation for eons of genocide is completely flawed, for Shep has proven him wrong. You did yourself short here, we all know you can do much, much better than that. We trusted you to do it and I still have faith that you will.

2) Do not let multiplayer affect singleplayer story.
I understand the attempt to make the game interesting for a bigger audience. But it's been a brilliant RPG for two parts and now you throw in a multiplayer. Okay, it's a sound business plan, but please do not herd your loyal fans towards something we didn't ask for. ME is a singleplayer space RPG, it's about Shepard. MP would be a nice feature and yes, you could have us unlock certain weapons or armour that way or whatever - but to let it affect your chances in singleplayer is just unfair.

3) Face import.
This was the first setback I encountered and it's been disagreeable for the entire game. For me, it just wasn't Shepard. I've made several different Shepards that all look differently, and now you have me end this like quick-start Shep? From what I've seen in the ending cinematics, I don't think it's possible to have a custom Shep featuring in there with all the bruises and scratches in the right places. I get the feeling the ending was made for quick-start Shep only and that's why the import won't work. I could easily be wrong of course, but that's how it made me feel.

Overall you did a damn good job in this series, it's the last hurdle you failed to take. You fell flat on your faces, but just know that all your fans out there, angry, disappointed or indifferent, are willing to pick you up and drag you towards the finish. Even if it takes another 6 months for you to do, we'll be here cheering you towards it.

Do us proud, BioWare. Hendrik out.

I agree with many of the posts here about the ending. The best ending for my Garrusmanced FemShep would have that scene at that warm and tropical place, in a bikini on a lounge chair, ankles crossed, sipping a drink and looking into the sunset. Then she hears a little kid shout out "Mommy, I found some seashells!" (allusion to Mordin's talk of seashells of course). She smiles, fades to black.

Maybe cliche, but the last talk with Garrus pretty much set her up on that. I like to see some significance of life moving on (a kid, plants blooming, etc.) and finally peace for Shepard.

I figure everyone is mostly discussing the endings, so I won't even bother with the fact that I'd like them at least expanded upon.

How about the ability to import one (or more) of your single player weapons into multiplayer? While I'm perfectly happy with the character I have (Drell Adept), having to sift through packs upon packs of mostly worthless weapon enhancements hoping for (and never getting) a good weapon is a little frustrating. And maybe add the ability to wear some form of armor? Obviously armor would be class and race-specific, but it would add to the fun.

These are just purely my opinions on what needs chaning.

Multiplayer

-If we've unlocked a weapon or an mod through the packs, allow us to buy the upgrades for those weapons or mods. It takes long enough as it is to unlock the rare weapons - I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate a system whereby you can buy the extra levels of them, much like the system in the SP campaign.

-Also, allow us to reset our points in our characters when we want. If I don't want to have the combat drone, for example, there should be an option at the start to remove the initial point in it. This goes for all of the class unique powers which automatically have a point in them at the start. (As far as I'm aware, there isn't a point reset button but if there is a way to do it already could someone tell me how?)

Gameplay

-The 'A' button, and equivalent for PC and PS3, has too many functions. Changing revive to a different button would probably be enough.

Technical stuff

-The Recon Hood seems to be glitched - no matter which colour you select for the lights on your armour, the eyes of the Recon Hood will randomly change colour during gameplay.

Story (I appreciate that this stuff would be the hardest to change, but I really feel the endings need some changes)

-Take out the Catalyst child bit at the end. Its not necessary, and with no foreshadowing of it its just a confusing addition, which calls into question the relevance of ME1's plot. Leave the Catalyst as just being the Citadel as it is.

-Take out the Normandy crash. While I appreciate that it might be meant to be metaphorical - that the Normandy crew finds peace - it provides little closure to the characters we've grown attached to.

-Change the Reapers' motivation. Avoiding a technological singularity is interesting, but doesn't fit with anything the Reapers have told us over the trilogy and just seems to come out of left field. Their motivation could simply be left unexplained, leaving some element of mystery. Either that, or have their motivation be something simple, such as a desire to achieve evolutionary perfection for example. This fits with the idea of 'imposing order on the chaos or organic evolution'. They've turned life into little more than an organised harvest, and so have imposed order on what would naturally be increidble chaotic - evolution. You can understand their goal, but at the same time they are still inarguably evil. You already have a 'grey' enemy in TIM; the Reapers don't need to morally ambiguous as well.

-Synthesis is unnecessary. It has no logical explanation, and the other two games worked just fine with two choices.

-This is my own personal opinion, but keep the Relays being destroyed. I love the idea of the Reapers' own tools being their downfall.

-Again my own personal opinion, but keep it so that Shepard dies in most endings. I get that a lot of people won't agree with me, and I won't complain if there is a super happy ending, but my own personal opinion is that Shepard's death is a fitting end to his/her story. As long as there is some measure of happiness for the other characters we've grown attached to, I won't begrudge Shepard dying at the end of ME3. Indeed, I personally think its fitting that Shepard was brought back from the dead to defeat the Reapers and that he dies with them, his task fulfilled. I just personally think its more fitting that way, but I get that any won't agree and I'd be fine with an ending that allows Shepard to live on with his crew. I don't think it necessarily fits with the story ME3 is trying to tell, but I still wouldn't mind this kind of ending.

-A series of epilogues showing how the various species fare after our choices in ME3. Most ME1 and ME2 choices have an impact in ME, but the ME3 choices have little impact apart from War Assets. Let us see how they play out.

How about you give us what we were hoping for and expecting from you? A fitting set of DIFFERENT climaxes depending on our choices we made over the last 5 YEARS. Set after the "best" ending where Shepard wakes up, oh, and it should be free since it should have been part of the initial product to start with. You would win a LOT of goodwill from the fans that feel betrayed at the moment.

First things first.

I want to thank ME3 developers team from all of my heart for the best gaming expirience I had encountered for the last 10 years. Whole series was inspiring, breath taking and just blatantly awesome.
Thank you for listening to us and being loyal to us and yourselves.

I really enjoyed and felt sometning i can express only as "Ow, Bioware, you do care!". - like in case of Garrus' calibrations, Stupid jellyfish joke, Best spot on the Citadel, etc ^^.
While playing your game i think all of us could for a time forget about the problems of the real life and step in a hero's shoes and defy the odds and destiny. Despite that we watched the story from an angle, you managed to involve the players so deeply into the plot. We started to care about something purely fictional so much, that it resulted in such a massive outbreak when things went wrong.

I will not recommend you to do anything with your game, because it's yours, just want to point to some things i, as a fan, would like to see and expected all along.

The first  and the largest issue is of course is the matter of "choice and consequenses".
Throughout first two Mass Effect games, we encountered some points when we had to do difficult choices and always faced the outcome later. Importing those outcomes we, again, faced new choices that depended on previous taken decicions. But this time we did not see the outcome and can only guess and imagine what happened after our decicion.

Example: Legion's loyalty mission. I, playing as a Paragon, went the "Rewrite" path and thought "That's a good thing, right? There will be no more war amongst the geth, so later i can somehow achieve peace between them, and the Quarians." So, not knowing what is about to happen in ME3 i assumed i did  the right thing. But when i faced the results of my decision i  thought "Whoa...i should have destroyed them back then." But despite this i brokered the peace anyway. And here's the point - i can only guess and speculate how will this peace work. In what will all of it turn out. Will the peace last or will the Quarians turn against the Geth again  as only as the Reapers are defeated? I don't see any outcome, based on my choices.
The genophage cure decision, the fate of the Krogan, and their new position on galactic arena - i can too only guess will Wrex go crazy and start a killing spree or will he be loyal to his word and bring a new way of life to his race.Or will the Salarians, who were obviously upset about SHepard curing the Genophade, invent any other means to deal with the Krogan "menace".

My point is - imagination is a good thing, but when you imagine consequences of your actions and have no means to actually see them in the future might drive someone crazy for a bit ^^.

The second issue is Shepard's character. We see him\\her as the embodiment of the free wil fighting against inevitable. But when it comes to the (sorry idk how to call it) space kid and his offers Shepard suddenly submits to him, without even trying to argue. Shepard i knew would never accept the "synthetics will erase life" logic and would always say something like "Our future is our own, and you are nothing to predict it and create it for us!".
But s\\he does not. I can understand that s\\he might be too desperate to end the war but the choises provided are just pure betrayal to her\\his beliefs and what s\\he stood for in previous two games.

Another issues concerning the ending such as lack of logic, lack of closure and major ploholes you can find in those threads.

Here and here.

I think most of everything has been said already, so I'm going to shortly state my biggest frustrations with ME3

What bothered me most was the lack of attention most ME2 characters got. While I've been attached to Garrus and especially Wrex since ME1, a lot of the ME2 characters really made me like them and see them as friends and not just the people I had recruited to complete a mission.
While I think all the ME2 characters should've gotten a bigger role, I'm mostly bothered by how the LI's were treated.
People who romanced Thane and Jacob especially got the short end of the stick in my opinion and I would be very happy if this would be rectified.

Another big point are the endings. In the end they are basically all the same and it didn't even really seem to matter if I had done my best to do every single little quest or just rushed the game to the ending.
I have one completed playthrough and am not motivated to play again. It doesn't pay off to try and get everything done because in the end the outcome stays practically the same.
Also the fact that I didn't get to see what became of the rest of the universe and, more importantly, my friends bothered me enormously.
That I had a flashback of Liara instead of my LI before I died was weird too and seems to me something that could've been easily changed from the beginning...

Those are my main two concerns with the game. While there are still some other things that bothered me, they wouldn't have bothered me as much if these two things were fixed.

Already Posted this in a couple of feed back forums, just wanna maxamise chances of being in a A,B,C format you've requested so, for your easy reference when your reading through for feedback

Positive main part of the game:

Main game great, fantastic even,

A.) Mordin fate, fantastic, I shed a tear

B.) getting to kill Ki Leng, (that entire level was awesome)

C.) Combat was pretty smooth and a lot faster pace than previous.

Negative parts of the main game:

Few and far between,

A.) I wondered what happened to that Asari I spared on Vermire ME 1 and then again getting Grunt on ME2 but maybe I just missed her.

B.) The Boss fight with the laser Targeter n the Reaper was a little annoying but fine once I got the hang of dodging its beam. A chase sequence from the Geth tank would have been far more exciting

C.) I'd of like a mission to the Elcor home world, rather than a quick scan to get some war assets, from around the system… something like covering a retreating force of Living Tanks or protecting the evac shuttles from the door of a Kodiak like I did with the Quarrians, on Rannoh that would of been awesome.

D.) Grenades thrown by Shepard rarely hit their targets unless I was point blank, maybe a aim system closer to your companions where it auto locks and explodes

F.) Combat is a lot smoother and faster, only problem is having a single action button for movement and using items, occasionally caused me to stick to walls while trying to activate objects (sometimes at very inconvenient times.)

But these Small Gripes aside easily the Best game I have played since I don't remember when.

I loved it, loved escorting the Mako's (shame I couldn't drive one for old times sake make that F.) Drive a Mako.) The story twists, the alliances the war asset mini game.... but then and we all know what’s coming here... THE ENDING

All I can ask is what you were thinking? seriously unless its a planned prelude to this Truth DLC a web article hinted at... really!!! Even if it is, you'd allow an unethical marketing campaign like this where professional (and I use the word loosely) journalists have been attacking your loyal fan base in several different publications, hat alone deserves a public apology!!!!!

But this is feed back so I'll skip to specifics...

Positive of the ending:
Anderson/ Shepard speech, as they sit watching the battle, beautiful! Utterly and moving that’s the one high point the positive.

Negative points of the ending:
A.) Star Child... a gold like AI telling me which colour of galactic destruction I get to commit. This gave NO sense of Closure at all

B.) No way to win, its a game I want to win and all my ending achieve galactic destruction, it would of probably been better if I left it for the Reapers no matter what I do I loose!!!

C.) Where was Harbinger, he could barely keep quite in the last game, this one doesn't say a word, just blasts me without as much as a 'How'd you do'

D.) Destroying the Mass Relays... what the heck, makes all my decisions totally pointless, doesn't matter what species I brought together it'll be 20,000 years before they see each other again and they won't remember if they argued by then, it totally destroys the galaxy I've been trying to protect as much as the reapers would... if not more so

E.) Even without the other consequences people have mentioned, mass galactic death, due to loss of relays. Starvation, the fact Turians and Quarrians can’t eat human food, bare minimum, I kill 15 million people when the Citadel explodes or they starve to death when I turn into a computer and fly off with it... nice.

F.) The massive amount of Plot inconsistencies...
I) Why am I listening to this star Child with no option to tell him to stuff himself,
II) How did my crew end up on the Normandy crashed on another world, inc. the characters 3 feet from me when Harbinger blasted us,
III) This is the Reapers goal to save us from chaos? Because in the chaos of evolution we will always make synthetics who with destroy us... a predictable pattern is not chaos its order.
IV) This is really the Reapers motivation, honestly given every other game, this seems a little altruistic for their motivation I'd of expected the cycle to be purely for their benefit, the whole speech from ME1 by Sovereign about 'You exist because we allow it and you will die because they demand it'
V) The AI destruction theory is a bit wrong, the Prothean mentions they had a war with an AI and won it, and the Geth our either dead at the end or our friends, not to mention EDI, bit of a hole in your logic there Star Child (not that I can tell him this)
VI) Why was Joker piloting the Normandy away from the battle, that’s court martial behaviour right there and if he took the time to pick up the rest of my remarkably uninjured crew and he left me, well that’s field execution time for me.
VII) In the control ending, I just get the Reapers to play nice and leave... surely it would be more logical to have them blast one another or at least drop their shields and hold still while the galactic fleet pummels them? Otherwise they always remain a threat, what if I loose control? With the relays gone, every system is now isolated and vulnerable.
VIII) Then there’s the idea of controlling the Reapers, really, each one is described as an individual and a nation. The geth describe each passing though as titanic and dominating and yet, my puny human mind is able to control them, easily and at will
IX) Further to this, anything controlling the Reapers for that matter, for the reason I've already described, how does that work? A Star child who is the Citadel is there boss. No boss or overlord is ever even hinted at beyond Harbinger and yet it’s the Citadel? This leads me to my next point.
X)The Prothean science team form Ilos altered the signal the Keepers reacted to, to prevent the Reaper invasion... and succeeded. Sovereign had to go to extreme lengths and got itself destroyed trying to activate that Mass Relay to Dark Space, but if the Reapers Boss was the Citadel all along, then why didn't it just activate itself and get the Reapers on the job, a sense of fair play?
XI) Synthesis, all organics and synthetic's fuse becoming part organic or synthetic respectively... how does this work... magic, how can an energy wave possibly alter metals and plastics to working flesh and blood and how can flesh alter to be complex functioning machinery, it makes no sense what-so-ever... besides wasn't this the sort of union the Reapers are and have been trying to force us into. Shepard has been rejecting it for the sake of our individuality... for 3 games!! and its presented as the main choice... a bright glowy light right in front of the player (I admit this add's a lot of credence to the indoctrination theory and would really explain a lot paving the way for special ending DLC this truth expansion pack... but really guys now is the time to come out and admit that as it's upset a lot of people and lead to a lot of arguments and press attacks on your fans as I have already mentioned above)
XII) How is Shepard breathing on the surface of the Citadel without any form of mask/Space helmet or intact hard suit… something Mass Effect 1 established you needed on the surface of the Citadel.

That’s every problem I have and bit of feedback I can think of at the moment I hope it helps and results in a improvement to the game we all loved till the end.

First post in the forums. I'm a Mass Effect fan and your customer since the first game.

In ME3 you've built a wonderful, well executed game. You have exceeded my expectations... up until the nonsensical ending. It just does not fit in with the rest of the game nor the tone of the series in general.

I'd just like an ending that makes sense, that my choices make a difference. Some closure would also be nice.

I think my peers above have explained ad-nauseam all the issues with the last 10 minutes and the problems of relesing DLCs within a dead ME 'universe' but for more information please read this article

Best regards,
V

Never posted anything on here before, and maybe never will again.
It does strike me as odd that the Community is being asked what type of end content we want.
We were not asked how Bioware should finish Mass Effect 1 or 2 (and those endings were perfect).

I hate to say it, but I've bought every Bioware game from Balder's Gate to ME3 (not counting Shattered Steel, but I do have it in a box somewhere), because I knew that Bioware=quality games, but this is the first Bioware game I've played where "completing" the game has left me feeling completely disillusioned.

The first ME was brilliant, the second was utterly fantastic, the last game (after a terrific build up) left a bitter taste in my mouth. I'm not angry, just very saddened.

Penny Arcade and the New York Times don't buy the games, we do.....
Everything has been said by the Community - it's about time something definative is said from Bioware.

Please.

This thread is massively long already, but I thought I would add my voice anyway.

Like so many have said, I loved 99% of the game. Up until the very end, it was superb. There are a lot of things I loved about it; probably too many to list in fact. A few favourites:

- I know it wasn't popular here, but I for one was pleased by the inclusion of Narrative Mode. It had no effect on the other modes and served to be more inclusive to a wider range of gamers. So thanks for that.
- The romance I did in my playthrough - FemShep and Kaidan - was absolutely perfect. (There was kind of a gap in the middle with not much going on in that department, but everything else in the romance was so good that I can forgive that.) Well worth the wait from ME1.
- The interactions with my non-romanced squaddies was fantastic, too! The new squad banters, squad members moving around the Normandy/coming with you to the Citadel. Being able to go on the 'dates' as friends, too, therefore not locking out wonderful scenes just because you weren't romancing the character. Gave so much more depth to all Shep's friendships. Brilliant!
- I understood the main plots being a series of wrap-ups of stuff from the previous games, and thinked they worked brilliantly. I'm not totally averse to characters dying, in case it sounds like I am later on. Mordin's death made me sob, because it was so beautifully done. When Grunt came out of that hole covered in blood but alive, I cheered, and I didn't even think I was that attached to Grunt. The decision about the Geth and Quarians ate at me.
- Armour and weapon customisation was a lot of fun, and I loved that there was an 'online shopping' sort of terminal on the Normandy.
- The combat was very enjoyable once I'd gotten used to the tweaks. I loved the extra jumps, ladders etc; they made spaces more dynamic. And I loved the Spectre gun testing range.

I could go on - there were so many great things - but this thread is more for ending feedback, so I'll move on to that. I'm also working on the assumption that what we got on the disc isn't going to be retconned/rewritten, so any future content would have to pick up where that left off/explain it somehow.

Now I've had a few days to think about it - I don't totally hate the 3 choices we got. I don't think they need to even be changed completely. What I was more annoyed about was that I absolutely busted my ass doing every single side quest in the entire game - I even used a long checklist to make sure of it - and got good outcomes in the main quests (I got both the Turians and Krogan, both the Geth and Quarians, etc). And I *still* couldn't save my Shepard, because I don't play multiplayer.

Anyway, since I know most people play MP, that's not really the main issue; and I have since been grinding away on Datapad, so I know I *can* save her (even though I'm railroaded into choosing Destroy in order to do so). But I'm wondering what the point of saving her is?

What I wanted for my Shepard was a happy (or happy-ish, considering the state of the galaxy) ending with her LI. Some peace and happiness after all the hell they've gone through. This should have been an option (or, if content is to be developed, this should be an option). As should the option for Shepard to go out in a blaze of glory saving the galaxy, if he/she wishes, as we got. Both would suit different Sheps, but both should be available.

The other huge problem, of course, which so many people have already mentioned, is the fate of the Normandy. That was just bizarre. Where were they going in the first place? Why was my ground team magically back on the ship? Why was Kaidan, who a) was in my squad when the laser hit and B) had visibly held back tears as he said "I can't lose you again", smiling as he stepped off the Normandy without Shepard?

And what was the point of the little Shepard Lives easter egg in the Destroy ending? Is there going to be more to that? Or was it just a little moment of hope, and we're supposed to fill in the blanks ourselves?

As I said, I don't hate the endings themselves entirely; I actually think they provide a very interesting setup for events after the war. I don't think it necessarily has to be total doom and death for everyone, either, in any of the endings (except my poor Shepard and Kaidan, it seems). But if everyone has to make up headcanons and theories and do mental gymnastics just to make the ending make any sense, then the ending has failed.

I was so hoping for a happy - or even hopeful - ending with my LI, if I - and therefore Shepard - worked hard enough for it. And that's something that we can still have, even if the endings as they are don't change. I really, really hope you decide to give that option to Shepard, and to us.

I skimmed through the thread and agree with most everything that's been said already. I felt the ending was poor, and didn't feel connected to the rest of the story. It was so abrupt that I feel like I didn't finish the game at all.

At the minimal, I would accept the Dragon Age style ending with just some text tell me what happened to everyone. Explaining why Joker was running away with my team mates who were suddenly beamed up to the ship. Then what happened to them afterwards.

Next higher, I'd be pretty ok with a DLC or Patch that had us take control of say...Traynor, or Joker, walking around the Normandy and the jungle from the end, talking to the crewmates about what happened and how they got there and everything. That would be nice, in place of just text.

Now, what I would be happy and thrilled with, would be a DLC or patch that changed the ending completely. I'd even be willing to pay for it. I'm talking about the indoctrination theory that's been going about. That everything after Harbinger blasted Shepard is just a dream made to brainwash Shepard.

Particularly, I like what jusksmit wrote on reddit http://www.reddit.co...what_im_hoping/

It's too long to past here, but essentially, it would have Shepard having dreamt/been shown the endings we got, but awoken and realizing he beat the indoctrination by envisioning his loved ones safe and happy. He then takes the fight to the Crucibal, finding Cerberus having set up shop there to try and take over the Reapers. A boss fight ensues with the illusive Man and Cerberus troopers.

After that, Shepard is indeed given a choice, but the choice is much closer to what the series is known for in choices. Either control the reapers, and try to rebuild the galaxy and the mass relays, or destroy the reapers, and depending on your assets, destroy the relays, or don't if you have enough assets.

Then some sort of cutscene/place to talk to my crew [if I survived] about what we all did, and what we'll do now and remembering those lost. I'd like to see that if I prepared well enough, everyone survived, but if I didn't I'd lose some of the people in my crew. Like ME2.

Something like that would fit much better overall, I think. I'd also like to see the final fight's cutscenes include some of the assets I got during the rest of the game. Like seeing Krogan charging into battle, or Turian fighters clearing the skies. At least some of the bigger assets somehow having an actual effect on what's going on around me.

As it was, it seemed like for the most part, it was just Humans on the ground and in the skies. I didn't have a feeling of a unified galaxy fighting together.

Overall, I felt like the ending to ME3 would have been fine, if this was C.O.D or Halo where I just went along for the ride, but ME to me always felt like I was doing the driving and choosing where to go. The end of ME3 took me out of the driver's seat and made me feel like nothing I had done in the past however many years mattered.

I've been unable to keep playing my second playthrough because I've felt so deflated and defeated by the ending. I feel like there's no point to get that far again because there's going to be no real change in what happens.

I need something more, in the game itself, to...well....give me closure. To lay all that enjoyment and time spent to rest. Not just slam it in a casket and throw some dirt on it. But give it the respect it deserves.

Sorry for such a long post, but I had to get my feelings and thoughts out somewhere.

I think everything anything could ever be said about the ending has been stated already. So I'm going to offer feedback in regards to the armor choices for Shepard. Most of them are too bulky looking, especially on my MaleShep.

Whenever you start rolling out the DLC, consider making sleeker, more form fitting and more badass looking armor for use in combat. I love the Inferno Armor but I hate that you can only take off the helmet in cutscenes.

Yeah, I'm probably the only one one in this thread who will make this suggestion but....that's my feedback and I'm stickin to it.

Heeeyyy now! How's everyone doing?

Haven't read the whole thread, but here's my 2 cents. I'm going to be as blunt as possible.

First off, I love you BW. You make my favorite games. I will always love you. I know for a fact that there are alot of creative, talented, hard working, good and decent ppl that work for BW/ME.

Secondly, I don't want this to be some standoff between fans and ...what? EA PR?..BW? I don't even know. I read something about "exposing your throat" in PR speak when you realize and acknowledge that there are issues.

I'm not here to cut your throats. I'm not interested in a battle of wills. If you lay down and expose your throat to me, I'll just yank you back to your feet, throw you in a studio and tell you to fix it.

Work with us. Understand where we are coming from with this. For the most part, fans are not just being cranks about the ending...(s). If you had listened when the Nov. leaks came out, you would have known then that there were issues with this intended ending.

I really enjoyed ME3. I did. You guys did a fine job with it. That's why the ending fell flat.

The whole mojo ending would have been Cool as Part of the ending. Not The ending. Different ppl have different issues with the ending. For me, however, the main thing is that I felt robbed of my hard earned victory.

I wanted to see the success, or failure, of my war assets make a difference. I wanted to fight the Reapers. As I've said, using the mojo sequence a button pushing would have been cool in a way to weaken the Reapers, but I wanted the satisfaction of being able to defeat them based on my collection of war assets.

Especially with games like Mass Effect, these things should have played a bigger part in the endings. I felt that as the player, I was taken out of the equation. Out of the long awaited ending to this series.

The whole thing with the Normandy and Joker, etc. just makes no sense. In fact, I'm tired of trying to figure that out.

I'm trying to replay it because it is a fun game, but I find it hard to give a darn. When I acquire a war asset, I just roll my eyes because..lol...so what?

I don't want anyone "fired", or to ruin ME's reputation. I've enjoyed BW games too much for that. Even ME3. I would, however, like to see BW take it seriously. The complaints are valid. I know we have a tendency to Chicken Little ourselves, but this is Not one of those times.

You are fortunate, BW, in that video games is one of the only mediums I can think of that will actually permit you to fix these things. You can't run a patch in, or dlc, in films and books.

Take the opportunity, BW. Heck, take the challenge. I know it's hard to see, but most of us are on your side. We're not out to destroy you. We just want you to fix the crappy ending..lol. Oh, BW! My, BW!

It's funny because I really thought my choices and actions would make a difference in the outcome of this war. Heck, in the beginning I was even making small notes about what forces to send first and in which waves. I thought I should be prepared just in case I, the player, might have a small role to play in deciding these things. Something like the SM.

These notes have now been flung across the room. I look at them every now and again, crumpled over in the corner of the room as they are, and a single tear rolls down my face. I feel so foolish now for even thinking about making such notes.

Well, this post is not as succinct and blunt as I'd hoped. lol.

I don't want to see ME3 go down like this. It's too good of a game to go out on a note like this. Fans are loud because, you know how it is, no one--especially corps.--takes you seriously otherwise.

In the end....you do what you want. But as a BW Fan Girl, myself, I hope you guys take the challenge. Step up to the plate, let your balls swing low and blow our minds. I betcha can. Don't tell me you don't have some ideas swirling around. Maybe even others that you didn't put into play.

It's like this, BW--you almost made me.....uh, erm.......you almost got me There. You understand. "There"! I had my hand on the knob of the shining door of ecstasy......then you stopped.....lol.

Ah, perfect! I already wrote up what I think would solve the problem...

*copypasta*

1.  Only change the ending starting from the last scene with Anderson/Shepard/TIM. Everything about the ending before that stays the same, with a few changes.

2. Completely ignore the God-child-spirit. It conflicts and contradicts the "Protheans fooled the citadel" basis in ME1. This was important. Cut it out entirely.

3. Make several choices based off of war readiness, and how many assets went into the Crucible. Such as:

Very low: Launch a giant EMP burst that destroys all Reapers, AI, Citadel, Relays, most technology, ect, as well as sacrificing earth. Shepard dies. Normandy crashes, and everyone aboard dies.

Low: Same, but without damage to earth. Shepard dies. Normandy Crashes. Crew dies.

Medium-low: Burst that only destroys all AI. Shepard dies. Normandy Crashes, Crew dies.

Medium: Burst that destroys all AI in the Sol system, and the Reapers. This allows the Geth to live, but EDI dies. Saves the Relays, but not the citadel. Shepard dies. Normandy crashes, crew survives.

High-Medium: Releases a burst that disables the Reaper Shields across the galaxy, allowing the fleet to easily kill the rest(Reapers are weak without their shields, as ME1 shows. A single torpedo from the Normandy killed Sovereign without it's shields) Shepard lives. Normandy damaged, but does not crash, and the player is treated to a small cutscene of the Normandy and the fleet blowing up a few reapers.

High: Sends out a burst attuned to the Reaper core (The Geth provide the information. They studied reapers, remember. If they are not available, the Quarians provide it, having researched the Reaper corpse on their planet) causing the Reapers' reactors to overload and die. However, the Reaper core just happens to be identical to the Core of the Citadel as well. The Citadel overloads and blows up. Shepard lives. Relays stay intact. Player is treated to a cutscene of the Reapers blowing up, troops on the ground rejoicing, as well as the Normandy picking him and Anderson's body up before Citadel explodes.

Very-high: Sends out a pulse that kills only Reapers. All tech stays intact. Shepard lives. Relays intact. Citadel intact. Player is treated to the cutscene above, minus the citadel explosion.

In addition, the endings shown in the "original" game would be available. These would be available on the left side of the dialogue wheel, while the ones I have proposed would be on the right. Synthesis would be unlocked at the Very-High level, and Control would be unlocked at the High-Medium level. Destroy would be available no matter what.

To complete the Synthesis, Destroy, or Control ending, the player takes the elevator up to where the Original ending takes place. This way, they do not have to design an entirely new environment. The animations and flashbacks for these endings would stay the same. The only difference in the cutscene after this would be no Normandy crash.

The options of the three highest unlocked options would show up on the right of the wheel on the right side. For instance, someone who had Medium assets would get the option of killing all AI everywhere, all AI in the Sol system, or all technology everywhere without damage to earth.

The dialogue wheel would look like this, if someone had 100% of all assets.
                                Synthesis              Take down Sheilds
                                                __________/
                                               (                       )
Destroy    --------(                          ) ---Kill reapers, Destroy Citadel
                                               (                       )
                                                -----------------
                                               /
                                      Control                Kill all Reapers
4. Include a small, text and scene ending. Small clips of certain occations from the various decisions made will show. This will vary by ending.

EXAMPLE: Geth and Quarians rebuilding, all species rebuilding the invaded home planets, ect.

5. A small scene with Anderson and Shepard before Anderson dies, about what Shepard will do if the Crucible works. Shepard can then respond in a variety of ways depending on what options he is presented with because of the war assets claimed. Anderson then says the whole "I'm proud of you" spiel, wishes you luck, then dies.

EXAMPLE:

Retiring and living in peace, finally, with LI(or alone, if that is the case).

Saying “This device will probably destroy the citadel and kill us, so it does not matter.”

Continue to pursue peace and justice as a Spectre.

Become a diplomat/politician and guide humanity

Ect.

6. Any teammates that were with you at the time you got shot by the reaper will run towards the teleport-beam and make it to the Citadel ahead of you, thinking that you died, and that they need to finish what you started. Upon arriving there, you meet up with them and get to the console. They also get manipulated by TIM, but only you are able to "break free" by shooting or talking down TIM.

Anyway, that's my whole view on it.

THIS WAY:
Players can get the endings they want, the player can still sacrifice themselves to get the endings they want, the Devs can have the endings they want, and originally intended. The only thing this really cuts is the stupid spectral Ghost-child-God thing, which was ridiculous in the first place.

How does this sound? I tried to address every concern and viewpoint, and combine them into one good ending that I think would please everyone.

Yeah this is pretty much it.  The only thing I have to add, is I'd like an endboss.  That enemy that embodies all the trouble you wen't through in the game that gives you a sense of satisfaction beating.  If it can't be worked into the ending narrative, at least do some sort of really memorable boss in a DLC to make up for it, please?

I highly enjoyed the amount of emotion put into the relationships. It made me very sad to see in the end it was for nothing and the only peace I could find was to picture Sheperd and her romantic interest dead together. I felt the final talk before the battle was awesome. It was so moving. If there could have been a different outcome than all dying, that would be nice. Even if Sheperd had to die, seeing your romantic interest's reaction would halp give a sense of closer.

I feel the star child wasn't very interactive and left much to be desired. If it could be more interactive with a possibility of more out comes that would be nice.

I did not understand why Joker was going through the mass relay.. That means he and what was left of your crew abandoned you, which felt completely out of character. Why would they stick by your side until then? Even if the mass relays were destroyed, it would be nice to know if the other races survived or could find a way to survive rather than assume all on Earth died. Having more feed back from the game, seeing what you did change it would help a lot. The various endings givin were so minor it felt insulting, but I'm glad to hear you are willing to listen to your fans.

I agree with many points raised here, but I will nevertheless present my own opinion. I also want to say thank you for taking the time to respond and listen to our critiques of Mass Effect 3. Bioware did a very good job on the game, right up until the last 5-10 minutes. Which is why it seems to make the disconnect, disbelief, fury and disappointment all the more devastating.

The Good:
Emotional involvement with the characters, especially love interests was very well done for the most part
Dialogue for the most part was spot on, few clunkers here and there but good on the whole.
Character deaths of Mordin/Thane/Legion dealt with spot on, very emotional, very engaging.
Graphics were pretty decent (I played on Xbox 360).
Overall storyline was good (except the ending), and resolved many outstanding conflicts.
The combat system seemed to flow a little better, but generally hasn't changed much from ME2 overall I felt.
The atmosphere of the game was amazing, very gritty, raw, especially the dynamic feeling backgrounds during missions that really made you feel like you were there in the war, seeing Palaven/Thessia etc burning.
The levelling system seemed to work fine overall and I liked the greater degree of choice as opposed to ME1 and ME2, at least in terms of "evolving" your powers.

The Bad:
The Journal didn't keep track of missions very well at all, with players often left wondering on the progress of the mission in question.
Jacob's romance was very poorly done (his new girl wanting to name her baby after the girl she stole jacob away from?). Nitpicking from others as well, I'm sure, but Jacob's stands out.
A number of decisions that were purportedly important didn't matter (collector base destroyed yes/no, rachni saved yes/no, council saved yes/no for example) to the overall plot and occurred regardless of choices made in past games.
Mechs suddenly completely disappear from usage galaxy wide?
Many side missions feel too much like solo multiplayer horde mode (because they are).
Severe lack of indepth missions involving many ME2 characters (such as Zaeed, who gets barely three lines and a cameo).

The Ugly:
THE ENDING
Really, this category is for the ending pretty much. It was ill conceived, poorly written, nonsensical, didn't fit in with the existing lore, plotholes, space magic etc etc. After Bioware had created such an awesome third game, it just boggles the mind how completely and totally the ending they wrecked it in the final five minutes (unless it was intended as a hallucination etc with the real ending coming as DLC anyway from the get go, in which case its pretty awesome way to do it, but seems unlikely). There was just such a huge dissonance and disconnect at the end.

I mean, for example your squadmates abandoning you and fleeing to the Normandy, which was racing away from the explosion stuff and then crash lands on some random planet somewhere? That is totally out of character for Joker and your friends, not to mention making no sense in regards to the convenient random planet that totally wasn't Earth.

Ideally, I would like to see everything from Shepard being hit by Harbinger's beam weapon until the literal ending of the game itself be played out as some kind of indoctrination attempt by Harbinger. Whether this was intended or not, it does fit fairly well into the overall themes, and if it was planned it makes it pretty awesome.

I would like to see more consideration and consequences put into the EMS and for our war assets to actually play out properly in cutscenes and actually mean something at the end of the game, completely changing the ending depending on how well we did gathering them etc. The higher the EMS, the better chances of getting a happier ending etc. Also showing our various war assets fighting (Destiny Ascension blowing up a reaper ship, Rachni ripping a reaper ship apart, Krogan riding Kakliosaurs etc).

As many other people have already listed, I would like to see say 10-15 vastly different endings available (and preferably cutscenes with dialogue, not just walls of text), all dependent on your choices in all three games, your paragon/renegade scores and your overall EMS all playing a part.

For example in one ending perhaps the Reapers win and the cycle continues, but it cuts to 50,000 years from now and some random alien species uncovers Liara's time capsule, so not all is lost. This can be considered the bad, but hopeful ending.

Another ending might leave Shepard dead, the Reapers dead (Geth/EDI alive), the relays destroyed, ships stranded in earth orbit etc but earth is saved (ish). The you've got endings like Shepard living, Reapers being taken control of, relays being destroyed/saved, Earth saved. Maybe Shepard dying, Reapers dying, earth saved, relays intact, love interest survives, big funeral and statues for Shepard and medals etc all round. And all manner of endings inbetween these.

And then you can have the "golden" happy ending, with Shepard living, the Reapers being destroyed, Geth/EDI fine, relays intact, reunited with love interest and living happily ever after, helping to rebuild Earth and other planets, maybe becoming Councilor for humanity if your paragon is good enough etc.

We should also get closure, dialogue etc with all our squadmates, including the mass effect 2 ones and generally seeing how things fared for them, depending on the endings. Just some sense of closure overall, as it is as much our story as yours, with our decisions in all the games making it into our Shepard, our story, our love interests, our friends, our choices. The current ending as it stands takes all that away from us and pretty much says "shut up and pick one of these three differently coloured but otherwise identical endings".

Thank you for taking the time to read all our varying opinions and I hope some mutual compromise or workable collaboration can come out of all this.

Thank you for listening.  While I'm sure the whole Indoctrination theory wasn't intentional, I would go with that compared to a hard retcon.  Now as for the endings themselves I don't know what's going on in the studio and what's being offered but these are the main things I want:

-A coherent ending in that there are no obvious plotholes.

-Not too many open-ended questions.  We shouldn't have to speculate whether our crew or the Sword fleet is going to starve to death.

-Multiple endings in that there are more than three.  I would like some serious variety in the endings.  It's not like you guys are planning on making a ME4 so why not go crazy with some of the endings. Please also tie Paragon/Renegade and your war assets into it.

-If you decide to still go with the Starchild in concept, please use the Virmire Sacrifice instead as it would tie better into ME1.

-Cut the epilogue.  The whole epilogue really limits the possibilities of this universe in that it forces certain facts such as space travel not being reimplemented after the destruction of the relays.

More of a general request:

Please fix Tali's face image.  I'm not a Talimancer but it really reflects poorly on the game and on the developers when you photoshop a stock image of her.  Either give her a 3D model or use all that beautiful concept art you have.

Personally I would like to see two things happen. The first is closure to this beloved franchise knowing for certain what happens to Shepard, his squad, and the galaxy at large as a result of the decisions I have made. The consequences of the three main endings available make many of the important decisions I have made feel utterly pointless. For example what was the point in being a galactic peacemaker when all of the long term effects of my decision are reset by the collapse of the relays?

Second is the ability to attain a happy ending. I replayed both mass effect 1 and 2 multiple times, and the reason I did so was because this type of ending was a possibility in both games. In Mass Effect 3 you can't achieve this, and with the ending options available it makes it hard to go back for another play through. This is because you know no matter what you do Shepard is dead, and that supposed Easter egg of Shepard could be several different things (hence lack of closure), your squad ends up stranded, and galactic civilization completely collapses. So obviously i'm a sucker for the happy ending, but in a series like mass effect that boasts choice, and places an emphasis on the players decisions couldn't one of the 16 different endings have been a good one with Shep and Garrus having a drink at the bar toasting to their victory? Or Shep and Tali picking out a plot of land together on Rannoch?

But endings aside. Thank you for a wonderful journey Bioware. Clearly you crafted a world that made me care what happened to it, and filled it with characters that I will always remember.

Bioware and to whom it may concern,

I agree with many of these people when I say that I was disappointed with what the endings were. I honestly love sad endings, and there are many endings played out in my head that I would gladly accept.

I contend that these endings are merely okay. There is absolutely nothing remarkable about them, and they barely do enough to satisfy me. As a long time "cult-classic" fan, there have been some dodgy endings in tv shows and games that I have actually reasoned through and realized they were sufficient and good. LOST is what comes to mind, as I thought that the ending of the show brought closure to what mattered most about the show: the characters.

If I make a direct comparison between LOST's ending and Mass Effect 3's ending, I find that I cannot say the same. The most closure to the characters we receive is talking to each crewmate before going to the final battles. After the game is over, what "closure" we do get, is inconsistent with the rest of the plot that you have set up and just simply does not make much sense. Why would the normandy be leaving the battle? Why would the entire galaxy be doomed to being cut off from the other major worlds, essentially winning the battle for the reapers? I have thought through these questions, and speculated at some mildly valid answers that I am satisfied with, but one thing remains: the end of the game seemed extremely sloppy and quickly thrown together.

These "16 endings" are a lie. There are 3 endings with color changes and texture changes in the cut scenes, with the only difference in some is that the Earth is destroyed or devastated or saved. This doesn't amount to the hype that you all built about the endings being the culmination of all my choices. I feel betrayed in that respect, my choices barely had an effect on any of this, because regardless of who my character is, I will get 1 of 3 endings with only slight differences.

This is my main issue with the end, and I wish that it would be addressed.

An article that I found points out exactly what I found wrong with the end is found here at http://www.gamefront...fans-are-right/

I sincerely ask that you take a look at that article again if you already have, and understand that the vast majority of my peers agrees with this article.

And please, in the future, if you are rushed to complete a product by a certain deadline, don't. Tell the publisher to let you do your jobs, as you are amazing game developers. You produced a great product for about 98% of the product, but the last small fraction of it upsets me, because it feels like almost blatant evidence of EA rushing you to complete it by a deadline. Remember:

"A delayed game is eventually good. A bad game is bad forever."

My sincerest regards, and I hope that you will take that article into serious consideration.

Josiah "Kryptuneyet" Smiley

EDIT: This is what I found wrong with the game, not my suggested changes. I apologize for that, and will throw those suggested changes in as soon as I can, but I have to work now.

I would love to see a bunch of things added to the endgame.

Mention of the volus bombing fleets should included in the fleet calling! I want to see or hear the chatter of my acquired War Assets. I want to hear mention of the drell, elcor, and hanar forces. Something like: "Who knew these jellyfish could fight?!" Small stuff like that would make a huge difference for me, because I know I earned that quip of chatter.

Like most others, I want to see a post-ending DLC. I want to see that my decisions affected the galaxy, the characters, and almost everything that I interacted with. I mainly just want closure. I would love to see Stargazer removed, because I think he is a wild card. I honestly don't mind if Shepard dies, I mean, it is a space tragedy after all, but I need to see falling action, and I need to see that I get rewarded with a unique ending compared to someone who hasn't played all three games. Thank you!
