without counting the ending a 6 out of 10
the auto dilog, no li for straight single femshep that had ash as vs
rinse and repeat quests with the journel that dident update, having only me1 li as flashbacks with defualt going to liara instead of having all li in the flashback, the treatment of jacob fans while i did not romance him what they did with his story arc was bad for the fans that really liked him as a LI. forsed squad mate as in eadian prime and mars.
with the endings 2 out of 10 since it has 0 replay value and makes it even harder to go back and enjoy me1 and 2 since no matter what you do or what choice you make it all comes down to red, blue or green endings.
Rate ME3 WITHOUT the Ending

Without the ending, something between 8-9. With the ending, around 7-8.
It does not make me want to play the game again, simple as that. However, everything what came before it was largely (and surprisingly) great.

The good :
More banters, finally !
The ship feels now more alive
The conclusion of the genophage arc was really nice
Most dying characters got a honorable send off
The bad :
previsible
journal is now useless
textures show its age
If you don't mp, you have only half of your EMS points

9/10 for the game ( I wish there were more quests/quest hubs. Some things were useless such as the Journal )
4/10 for the ending ( Being generous here but only because I find the Indoctrination Theory is an interesting idea...)

The most agonizing truth of the game 10/10 before the entire series was broken over the knee of a giant 500 lb troll face dude going "Heh.. heh.. lookie at your story... haw haw"

10/10, easily.
With the endings?
7/10, if not lower. It really depends on the swing of my mood when thinking about it.
Some moments, my fury at the crap we were shoveled brings me to 3/10 territory. When I'm in a decent mood, however, it's a solid 7/10: Great game up until the endings.

Without the ending: 9/10. The side quests system is a bit annoying. For me, every LI should get more scenes when romanced.
With the actual Ending: 6/10. The game is still great, but I just cant ignore that sad and full of plotholes ending that makes everything you have done useless.

Without ending 10/10. I know there are some bugs, imperfections, but this just can't hurt my score. There's so much emotion, epicness, great dialogues, tension, and plain cool factor 9,5/10 is lowest I could accept
With ending... dunno... 3/10? It really manages to cripple whole trilogy experience.

Without the ending 9/10, with the ending 9/10. Only reason is not 10/10 is because I reserve 10/10 for the perfect game and that has never been made yet in the history of gaming.

At best a 7. There's so many annoyances in the game. The terrible animations, the off lip-syncing, the useless journal, the creepy eaves-dropping fetch side quests, the countless bugs, the terrible weapon UI (is this gun better than this gun upgraded? Save the game, spend the money to upgrade it to find out one step at a time, reload game if not...annoying), the lazily repurposed galaxy map from two with the silly reaper scanning thing that has zero consequences even if you do get caught since it autosaves before every map trip you take, lack of a real decent antagonist (funny that Harbinger was a better villain when he was sitting outside the galaxy) and more. It's still a good game but even without the atrocious ending, it's the weakest game of the series despite the combat upgrades.

up to that final conversation with Anderson... ME3 was just perfect 10/10... I loled, I got excited, sad and hopeful.
But, from best seats on the house, I was tossed to the worst place in the universe.
If someday I find the way to erase the memories of the ending, I will think that Mass Effect 3 was the best game ever.

9/10 with or without endings. if you consider ME3 a standalone game, it's just great. I rate this game the same as Dragon Age Origins.

The game was great up until you collapse on the elevator taking you to the catalyst. Only part that really annoyed me before that was dodging the reaper beams while defending the invincible missile trucks. Man, that was annoying.

Without.... 9.5/10
Only other downsides:
- Auto-Dialogue banter was nice, but lack of more convos. inbetween Priority quests didn't make the characters as involving or distinctive
- Massages and Journals were pretty much useless :/
- Some characters from Mass Effect 2 (Morinth in particular) didn't get a decent Revelation in the game
With ending: 7.5/10 < Did cripple the experience for me

9/10 Before ending.
Honestly the best game I ever played, both as a Mass Effect game and otherwise.
I had a couple nitpicks, but with the complexity of todays games nothing can ever be 'perfect' and /some/ things are fairly subjective (note:NOT THE ENDING WE GOT).
I tred to stay away from spoilers, but already knew some people were hating on the ending but I didn't know the specifics. As I was playing the game, I was honestly like WTF at all the complainers. It was such an amazing game with so many spectacular moments. I even prepared myself mentally for a bleak ending, particular for my shepard.... exept nothing coould have prepared me for what I actually got.
The only reason I don't say 10/10 is because a great (not necessarily HAPPY) ending would have been the perfect icing on the cake and brought it up to legendary status.
6/10 After ending.
Enough has been said about the ending. For me, it didn't COMPLETELY ruin the journey, even if it made it seem almost hopeless and pointless. I would still recommend the game based on 99% percent of the content, but would recommend people take their time playing through ME1 and ME2 first... my girlfriend is doing this. Hopefully by the time she is done there will be an answer to this backlash. But we'll see.
Still, it really soured the game for me, and even effected my replayability of the previous games.
I also struggle with clinical depression, and I actually had to miss work and see my therapist after I experienced the endings. I know that sounds lame, but it's true. I don't strictly blame bioware.... it's my own issue and a lot of different things can set me off, but well... this definitely did.
The Retake Mass Effect movement and positive constructive criticism from the fans have actually helped me a lot.
I have gladly donated to Child's play twice now, and will likely do so again. I'm proud to be part of such a unique and moving voice for the fans of Bioware and ME who were let down by the ending we recieved.
HOLD THE LINE!

10/10, darn near perfect.
And yet, amazingly, the devastation the ending causes makes me rate it a 1/10 because it kills any desire to play 'any' Mass Effect game because the ending points out it's all pointless anyways.

I would rate it pre-ending an 8/10
Reasons are..
The game is short!!!
Less conversations with your crew memebers
Lack of paragon and renegade choices
Tali's face seen via picture and not actually given to her in game!!!!!!!!!
Cover system is improved but still has issues to work out
The lack of visual acknowledgment of your allies in the final battle.
Lack of diverging storylines if someone died in the past.
Lack of companions usable in missions.
Not enough of your old companions rejoin your squad.
Ohhh the eavesdropping quests
Quest tracking menu!!!
Lack of stuff to do in the galaxy map.
Missions are to linear.
Of course no need to say what that becomes with the ending. =(

Good topic and good responses. Shows not everyone who hates the ending is being unfair.
