9.5/10 easily.
Then after that horrible ending it plummets like ton of bricks.

4.5/10 without the ending
the resolutions of a lot of the ongoing conflicts weren't satisfying (WHAT DIDYOU DO TO THE GETH BIOWARE? SERIOUSLY?), inconsistencies abounded, and even without the stupid ending, many promises were not delivered upon. there were also a lot of hammy moments and the intended drama came across as melodrama instead. also, autodialog. i had almost no control over shepard. it was ****ing annoying.

Solid 9/10. Cries of "NOOO MY BABBIES" or "AWW LOOKIT MY BABBIES" abounded all the way through the game. Such a shame about the end

This game, no, this trilogy needed an incredible ending.
5/10 tops considering the hype and expectations. I'd give 5/10 to a single book with a great story that has a bad ending, so I'm being generous by not mentionning other aspects of the game that were flawed.
Still waiting on Biowares "listening" process to prove me wrong.

9.5 out of 10 on the game (couple bugs, overall excellent)
0/10 for the ending content. You just can't excuse lackadaisical, sub-par writing from a company as talented as BioWare

0/10 because of the god child.
Before that, 9/10. Not enough volume, not enough plot polishness, good gameplay.

Add in a perfect ending to the series and it would be one of my favourite games of all time.

Story without Ending 9.5/10 only missing the 10 for minor plot and import issues causing plot holes. Nothing major, but definitely not perfect.
Gameplay 9/10
Very solid game without the ending. Would rank it as one of my favorites if not for the ending. That's hard for me to say... to judge something so harshly on the last 10 minutes doesn't feel right, but well... I felt like I watched the fanfiction of a 8 year old at the end there. If the indoctrination theory pans out and they show it, I'd consider it absolute genius, but the worst PR move in the history of gaming. If it doesn't then, well... I'd probably make a point to figure out how to make it to a convention BioWare is at, bring a list of plot holes to ask about and go "what the **** happened?"

An easy 8.5/10 for most of the ride. (I don't believe in perfect scores - perfection is unattainable. And while amazing, it still had flaws)
Had a ton of small animation glitches that bugged me, but were easily overlooked. And several other relatively small issues (a few missing voiceover lines from Femshep, no real "side" missions - just scanning for credits and War Assets, very limited opportunities to have 2-way dialogues with squadmates while on the Normandy, etc).
But it was easily the most emotionally powerful game I've ever played (props to the character writers and voice actors for really bringing it to life). Combat was far better than in previous installments. While playing, my complaints completely disappeared off the radar.
Then the ending came in like a punch to the nuts, and completely shattered my bubble. Spent the better part of 2 days in a daze while my mind was running over and over it, obsessively trying to make it fit.
Eventually I solidified my own personal headcanon and purged the "real" finish from my mind, which allowed me to happily replay it several more times (nearly done with playthrough #6 now).
Ending score: 1.5/10
The first time I have ever given anything less than a 4/10, in my entire life.
At the end of the day, looking at the whole package, I have to give the game a 6/10. Greatness brought down to the level of mediocrity by a left hook out of nowhere at the last second.

10/10.
Issues like the journal system are so minor compared to how well the game does practically everything else. Bioware had the daunting task of bringing the stories of ME1 and ME2 together in a cohesive and engaging fashion, and minus the ending they did just that. Not to mention that they improved EVERYTHING from ME2, from gameplay and dialogue fluidity to loading times. It is truly one of the best games I have ever played and it is really a shame about the ending. I still have faith Bioware will learn from this though, they've proven they can make some of the best games out there.
If you just look at the opening scene when Shepard is talking to Anderson on Earth, the conversation and the way Shepard and Anderson react and move in the environment is some of the most fluid animations I've ever seen in any video game, period.

I was pretty upset about the removal of neutral dialogue and lack of female turians, if you give me female turians however, it bumps it up to a 9/10.
With the endings however, it gets bashed to a pitiful 3/10, 1/10 if you judge the ENTIRE series, not just ME3.

9.5/10 for the game up to ... up to the point where Shep meets Star Child. Even the resolution with TIM was great IMO.
1/10 from Star Child onwards. I wanted to give 0/10, but end up awarding a point for decent visual and sound effects.

That one guy was right, with his poo-centered ice cream metaphor. Doesn't matter how good the ice cream is, you're only going to think about the poo in retrospect.
