It's actually better to be "that retarded vanguard" than to have done something for a reason and have people call you that for precisely that reason.

I was in firebase glacier against reapers in a bronze match to level my vanguard not too long ago, and the other people in the lobby were below N7 rank 20 so they were on their first characters. We get to wave 11, I tell them to get out of the circle and come hell or high water, stay out of it until the last twenty or so seconds because the very first thing that happens on that map/enemy combo is a banshee teleports straight into the EZ and spams biotic screams and instant kills. They didn't, and naturally here comes the banshee.

I start yelling at them to get out of the circle and do my usual anti-banshee tactic: charge, roll straight backwards, nova, repeat. Best case scenario, I kill the banshee; worst case scenario she grabs me and my death buys time for the team to get out of the circle and finish off the banshee. The latter was what happened.

...and cue the vanguard hate, because my offing myself to ensure we didn't flat-out wipe made me the worst player ever because we didn't get the full extraction. Ugh. The punchline is I ended up with more points than the rest of them combined, and effectively soloed the entire match considering most of the time they were picking off enemies I'd weakened and were lucky to have offed a marauder left to their own ends.

I was going toe-to-toe with a Brute on gold with my Krogan solider and I had the little bugger down to 1 bar.

I was sitting on just a sliver of health myself...no shields...

Time slowed as I went in for the final heavy melee kill. I purged my shield let loose a savage roar and...

 Me and a friend, entered a bronze match, vs Cerb, firebase ghost, all the good stuff we'd played durring the beta, level 12 Human Soldier and level 15 Drell Vanguard.

We were both wiped out in the first few moments of the first wave. We decided to call it quits and start again. 

I almost cried.

Wave 11: two Atlases are marching towards the extraction point. I pull out my missile launcher and suavely say "I've got this, guys." I try to carefully line up my shot, which is a bit annoying since there's Centurion smoke in front of the Atlases, but they're big, right?! Shouldn't be a problem! Boom! ...I took out the guardian that was standing in front of the Atlases. *facepalm*

Anytime the game feels the need to announce that "tankarmarx was taken down by Assault Trooper."

Also dying as the last hope of the team by the last mob on the map whenever they're Wave 1 mobs (cannibals, assault troopers, geth troopers).  I face palm and rage for a good few minutes. xD

I also tend to have an embarassing amount of difficulty meleeing a Nemesis when she's not backed in a corner.

They're too slippery.

I died on wave one on bronze. With a level 20 krogan that had over 1600 shields and 1250 health. wanted to shame quit.

I hadn't actually been grabbed and insta-killed by a Banshee since the day the game came out, as far as I recall. However, it happened twice today, in the same match, and I was playing as an Infiltrator.

Bad day for me.

40 seconds left and getting one shot killed on silver by a Banshee in the LZ so we got a partial extraction goddamnit! Was on my infiltrator so I have no fricking idea why I decided it would be a good idea to melee the bugger, with 0 points in fitness.
