As title says, everytime I Load a save game from any of my four characters, after about 1 minute I get a popup saying
"You have timed out while attempting to access your online profile storage"
This started happening about two or three days ago and it keeps doing it since.
My fourth character that I created right before I started getting that error has never been updated, but her achievements did...
You have timed out while attempting to access your online profile storage

Getting this message every time now: I used to be able to (presumably) get it to connect by saving, exiting and restarting, but that no longer seems to work. Has something changed? Does it even matter?

This one is starting to get on my nerves more and more.
The release notes for the latest patch seem to imply they are aware of this problem because they made a vague allusion to the fact that something like this *wasn't* fixed, but hopefully it'll be taken care of soon.
I don't understand what's so complicated. All it should have to do is upload a small file that is either the save data or a simplified version of information in the save data, replacing the previous one for that character so it doesn't take too much server space. Then the BioWare system can just take out the pertinent info and apply it to the info up here.
Seems like BioWare gave the PC version the shaft while spending more time on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions because it'd probably more unwieldy to patch them though Xbox Live/PSN, and some people won't even play them online. The latest patch seems to have mostly caught us up, though.

same problem,
using the steam version, patched to latest version (1.2), firewall disabled getting either error messages (time out or server error)
a broad hint to EA/Bioware, before you claim running a "social" network, how about you learn to run a frigging webserver first? People have being doing that for a few years now, they might be able to give you some pointers

Getting this problem but not just in the game but on this site too!
Not only that in the game 'Player Profile' if i try uploading any screenshots it states that I have reached the maximum storage and yet looking on my screenshots on this site there is hardly any there. Also I deleted some yesterday and despite the fact I have unchecked the box to automatically upload pics some of those I deleted have re-appeared today as if I never deleted them.
So this might explain why it is having issues accessing the storage system because it isn't properly working and is clogged up without us being able to see what with.

i've been having this problem since maybe 2nd day of release. my first character is stuck at level 8, and none of the 5 or so other characters i've made have uploaded at all.
it usually gives me this error message when i sign on, sometimes it doesn't, and one time i got a message saying that there was a problem with the server.

Same issue here on my xbox, started happening on Friday 18th.
It seems to have no impact on my gameplay though.

Maybe it's a placebo effect, but I don't seem to get this as often if I start the game through the launcher. It was a suggestion made to me in a thread I had started earlier about some character uploading issues.
Either way, I just restart the game until the error stops.

I get this error as well. All was working fine till the 16th then it stop fully updating. Say my last update was the 16th and that I am level 11. But it is adding in my achievements well some of them. It has added in dragon slayer which I got 3 days ago, I just seen on my profile. If I go to online profile from in the game it open the webpage and says it cannot find profile for ~@:$ A lot of the time if I then hit the link it give me I go to my profile??? If I then hit profile diagnostics I get cannot access the update server or it does go to my profiles say XML and so are all ok green tick then error code 1005.
I think that Bioware just did not understand the number of save game file player would be using and so the server just cannot get up. It would not hurt to just have one update a day. Which is better than nothing.
I also had the save game bug and lot about 6 hour of play. I have delete out of the game a number of save game files has any one ells no this?
Also I have had a look with the tools kit at the save game files I cannot help but notes that the date my profile stop full up date was the day I first used it?
Anyone ells see this as well as me?

Same issue here as well, and it is just frustrating that nothing seems to be happening to fix it. I have yet to see anyone address it, I was trying t upload a character from the character creator and no luck, tells me I have timed out in the background of the upload info splashing screen at which time nothing happens and it freezes the creator program. I was attempting to aquire the "Lucky Stone Ring" which can only happen if I upload a character using the creator program, a bit bogus to me that it doesn't allow that to happen.

Folks I think most of you have this problem due to the popularity of the game not sure they can keep up. You want to ensure the different applications have access in both directions (in and out)throught your software firewall. DAOriginsLauncher.exe, DAOrigins.exe, daupdatersvc.service.exe.
Most of you that have seen updates but they stopped are probably fine...for those new to this thread ensure the above applications are added to your software firewall. Once capacity is added I am sure it will function again. I get error everyday when playing but do notice my achievements sporatically appear...on charactor creator divlish It took two days for them to appear in my profile...again make sure the applications are allowed access through firewall. DAOCharacterCreator.exe
I had allot of problems because "My Documents" was shared for backup to my server so instead of C:\\location\\username\\my documents it was \\\\servername\\location\\username\\my documents Dragon Age presently cannot deal with this and I have reported this issue but again 95% of you won't suffer from this...if you are not sure what this last part mean's it doesn't affect you but for those of you that do log a case hopefully it will be fixed.

PS hardware firewalls like wireless and wired routers that support NAT (95% in last 5 years) work fine and unlike some other online games Dragon Age doesn't need ports forwarded...should be automatic.

Update to the latest patch 1.02 to fix this problem. Works for me. As per the patch release notes:
"Various issues could occasionally cause uploads to the online player profile
to fail unexpectedly. This no longer occurs."
