Just a suggestion, if you want to get some more damage in there and you got some good precision on you, you could in fact spec our your armor for 40% weapon damage boost and a 25% headshot boost if you go hahn kedar for chest and grieves then take armax arsenal for shoulders and arms with a delumcore overlay to top that all off. Keep in mind the delumcore overlay you get in priority cerberus headquarters, so you won't be able to play with this very much unless you do a new game plus

Bonus Power: Depends on the gun I'm using for the most part, if its an AR or Shotgun then Marksman, otherwise, Stasis.

Bonus power marksman with accuracy chosen since I persist in trying the Argus as my AR and with marksman and level V stabiliser it is almost accurate

if you are unsure what bonus power to take then defense matrix. you dont use it for the damage reduction, you just click it on and off to recover shields when you need to. i mean i guess you could also use it for the damage reduction, especially on a soldier who has little concern with cooldowns, but really it is all about shield recovery.
in practice though, the most powerful bonus power in the game is stasis. but once you take stasis you will for the most part no longer be playing a soldier. you will just be a stasis delivery vehicle with time slowdown.powers.

In total it gives +40% damage bonus to powers which was insanely beneficial to the Carnage bonus power.
If you want to take the extra step and use a visor for +10% power recharge/power damage its up to you, but I didn't consider those extra +10% to be significant enough to give up my N7 breather helmet.
Not sure if the damage bonus also applies to incendiary ammo or not.
If you picked your weapons and attachments carefully your default power recharge should be somewhere in the 150-80% range + power recharge upgrades that you find on random planets.
Pretty much all you really need is a lightweight assault rifle, powerful pistol and perhaps an SMG with fully upgraded ultralight materials as a backup in case you run out of ammo.

Adrenaline Rush for maximum damage and bonus power was Defense Matrix (deactivating is a nice panic button too, +70% shields instantly restored!).
Weapon loadout was M11-Wraith for up close and personal and M55-Argus for distance engagements.

Bonus power = Carnage, which goes lovely with Incindiary Ammo.

Oh, I know. I spec'd/tailored my build all around the particle rifle, so headshot damage wasn't truly necessary with the damage output as is, although it could be applied.Complicated Stares wrote...

I'm up to Rannoch and so far I've only had real trouble going toe to toe with the geth. The tight quarters of the Dreadnought weren't friendly to my sniping tactics lol, those hunters are aggressive.

Does it work together with adrenaline rush?

You can evolve adrenaline rush to allow you to use one more power while it's active...
That actually seems like a good strategy. I'll try it out.

Felt easy. First up insanity playthrough, was a bit of a cakewalk with Liara doing CC and Garrus with overload/fire support.

Technically the "headshot" pieces (some of the Armax) will give you slightly more damage, but that is only when you get a headshot.
Really though it only matters if you have a very specific weapon combo that needs extra damage from armor to one-shot some unit. Most of the time it isn't all that noticeable since Soldier will do nearly as much damage from ammo powers as from weapon damage.
