I took my memory unit with me to visit my parents - who have an xbox and Dragon Age. I went ahead and started a new game/character while I was there, and put about 12 hours into it.
Now that I'm back home, I can't load the save game! I have the collector's edition. They had the regular edition, but apparently they got the "Memory Band" DLC... and because of this, I can't load the save?
There doesn't appear to be any way for me to purchase the memory band, or to get rid of it out of the save game...
Any recommendations other than "sorry"?

It depends did you play dragonage on thier gamertag or yours? and which one did you register your game to? You said you broguht your memory unit with you, are you sure you but the save on your memory unit and not thiers?

I was logged in with *MY* gamertag and had my savegames on the MU.
I realize the memory band was a pre-order bonus (which I did not get)... all this *STUPID* retailer specific pre-order crap does nothing but cause problems. Fine if you want to give it away to people who buy at a specific retailer, but at least give me the option of buying it instead of *BREAKING MY GAME*.
