Why should we refrain from personal attacks on defenders of the ending?

Because if we insult them back that will just make them happy. Prove them "right" as it were. I'm not going to give them that satisfaction.

The people who like the ending are the ones who are insulting to begin with. I hardly see any post of someone liking it without somehow being condescending to us 'whiners'. And if someone is like that to me I reserve the right to return the favor. I understand that being civil may or may not get us further and support the approach in general. But I won't let them add insult to the injury.

Because they didn't profit from lying to you. A lot of them are just trying to make the best of what they got.

Oh but we have everything to gain by being civil, and everything to lose by acting the same way that they do. It's an uphill battle for sure, but if we resort to name calling and immaturity then we give credence to their argument that we're whiny entitled brats. We've made great headway in drawing supporters simply by voicing our critiques using proper logical reasons.

They also function on hits and ad revenue.  They get hits by inciting conflict.  They can't incite conflict if we just put our complaints forth as we have been.  It gives them no new content to twist and belittle.

No because it's double standard. And I can't accept it out of principle.

Because we need to remain civil and keep to the high ground. As cathartic as it may be, we'll have trouble winning others to our side of the argument if we resort to name-calling. The more civil and rational, yet passionate, that we are, the harder it gets for others to dismiss us for being "petty" or "childish" or "rude."

The problem with this is. How do you make a proper judgement of something if you are trying to make the best of it? It's like if a woman is married with a wife beater and then talks about how good he is because he does have good sides too. Unacceptable.

I spoke before actually reading the OP. The media can **** themselves.

We have to take the high road and not act the same way. That is always the best way to approach such situations.

Good for you then. I won't sink to that level. I'm not going to hurl insults around.

I just came up with a way to put the answer simply:

Because they're getting paid for insulting us. We are not. That's why we don't act the same way.

Look, major...

We understand you're angry. However disappointed I am with the ending, I'm far more annoyed with people thinking I have no right to be disappointed. Just please, try and see that you're not helping your own argument by reducing the issue to petty bickering.

Just because 'they said it first' doesn't mean you have to make us all look like spiteful halfwits. Yes, we get it, you're angry but please think how you're making us all look before you go and start up a damn forum thread displaying to both BioWare and the public in general exactly the kind of behaviour critics accuse fans of.

I'm not saying you have no right to be angry but please, think of the wider picture before you vent that anger in public.

As far as I am concerned they are swine, personally repugnant as human beings and we should vigorously and vociferously attack them wherever they are.

i don't want anything to do with something like that. no reason for it, ever.
THIS is the reason people might have grounds for calling the whole criticism 'childish', and that we have no real arguments to support our criticism.

treat people as you want to be treated.

While you turn the other cheek, the lapdogs, hirelings and sycophants circulate their libel, and bring damage to your reputation every minute that passes. They should not go unpunished for this.

There is also a simple logical reason why we can't

http://www.nizkor.or...ad-hominem.html

Argue based on logic, not on fallacies. They can twist things however they want but if we keep putting forth the same logical arguments because they haven't logically rebutted said arguments, we're still correct, and win the argument.

We are not going to get what we want if we start insulting each other. That's not where the strength of the movement comes from.

Well I will conceal my anger for a while tbh. Let's see how far it gets them with the 'civil' approach. I am not going to take the blame for this movement fail.

From both sides or just from us? Because then you can start going through threads looking for the word 'whiner'.

Because for once there's a gamer movement that really can't be described as headed by trolls and inciters, a movement driven by respectful protest in the name of a common cause. By giving in to the urge to hit right back, you just make it all the more hard for any of us to get what we want.
