script editor - why doesn't it respect the real end of a line?

The script editor is mostly fine. However there are 2 things about it I wish I could change.
One is not so important, but the other is a real pain for me.

Better autoindenting would be nice, and real tabs ect. It might support tabs vs spaces for tabs, except that the second issue essentially hides that fact

But...
The thing where clicking on a line puts the cursor where you clicked rather than the original end of that line really causes problem with formatting.

Normally I can count on being able to click in an editor, and if I click past the end of a line, either will either put the cursor at the start of the line, or the real end of it,
But this one puts the cursor right where clicked, So even if you the line ends at the precise indentation where new text should go, if you don't click on that precise spot, the cursor will not end up there.

Nothing is stoping you from writing scripts in your prefered scripting environment afaik...  (excluding compiling that is)
