I know I need a high paragon score if I want to save the people in the refinery and get Zaeed's loyalty but anyone know exactly how high? It wasn't high enough when I tried earlier so I've gone back to an earlier save to try and get some more before I have another go. I can do the Samara loyalty and use the extra paragon points glitch if I need to, but I really don't want to play the renegade route again with all the screaming, and besides I really want the heavy weapon upgrade and credits from the paragon route.

It works as a proportion of available paragon, not as a fixed value. So the answer would depend on how much of the game you had done.

apparently, the longer you wait to do it, the harder it will be.
I've heard reports of ppl saying they went and did his loyalty mission as soon as they got the ship and got the paragon option (at maybe 20% paragon). But then ppl with 80% paragon who waited didn't get the option to show up.

Yeah, that's the problem with the bars. 20% or 80% or however full they are doesn't seem to reflect 20% or 80% of the points you could have got up to that stage of the game, which would be a lot more useful. It just seems to show how full the bars are which has no meaningful in game application. I suppose they thought it'd look silly if it went to 100% full after you picked up the first morality points available in the game but it'd have been more useful.
I'm doing Zaeed's mission about in the middle. I've gone and got the whole squad and have done loyalty missions for Mordin and Grunt (because they can be done in one planet visit which meant an extra mission and goodies before the Collector Ship) and then Miranda and Jack (because I heard the same thing about it being easier to resolve their fight afterwards the sooner you do it). And then I went straight to Zaeed's and didn't have enough points to get the paragon resolve option.
I was hoping someone could tell me what the actual proportion required is there but all I've found anywhere is that it's quite high. I'm pretty sure I'm not far off because I've taken just about all of the morality points on offer (at the expense of some of the role play aspects) and where I had to choose between paragon and renegade points I took paragon about 2/3 of the time. I think I'm going to replay everything from the Collector Ship onwards choosing only paragon responses and then try Zaeed again while wearing the Death Mask. If that doesn't do it then I'm going to do Samara's first and use that glitch to add extra paragon points, but I'd prefer to avoid that if I can.

Done it. Don't know if it was getting those few extra paragon points or wearing the Death Mask or both, but something's made enough of a difference that I got the paragon conversation option this time round. Makes me wonder, does having the Death Mask equipped for Shep's armour count when she's just wandering around the ship in regular clothes? Because I want to go back to the visor with the headshot damage bonus now but if the Death Mask bonus carries on working when not wearing it aboard ship I'll change back to it before I get the Tali/Legion argument. Anyone know?
