In light of the new MP, I have questions for the OP who so generously created this thread for us who like to maximize squad weapon efficiency.

Does the Harrier compare to the Particle Rifle? Or is the PPR still pretty much the king of weapons? Right now I understand that bringing two squad mates both with PPR will yield the highest and most efficient squad weapon damage performance.
Also, is the ADAS comparable to Harrier or PPR for squaddies?

I usually bring someone with an SMG to keep it varied. Is the Punisher better than the Hurricane now for SMG-wielding squad mates? Or are they pretty comparable?

Squaddies are hopeless with the harrier. They will only fire 3-6 bullets before going back in cover. The general principle with squaddies is that you want them to use guns with which they fire more. Harrier is not it.

What about the Reegar Carbine for Tali/Vega? I know it has the potential for massive damage but does the A.I. use it well? i.e. will they keep a constant stream of fire up against enemies that close in or will they incessantly fire at enemies way out of range?

Another good question.  It would seem the Reegar is either a best on squad mates, or worthless.  I'd like to know which one.

Edit:  When I tried it out on Vega, it was only affective against melee enemies (husks, brutes)  I didn't try him on the geth missions, maybe it's useful for Hunters?  Either way, it seemed underwhelming, but this is only one try.  If anyone has any more information, please share :)

If melee enemies get in close range, they do okay with it. The problem with your squadmates using the Reegar is that they treat it like it is shooting bullets, so they will fire it at enemies far outside of its range. Skip to 8:50 of this video to see Tali shoot at nothing with the Reegar.

Squadmates suck with the Reegar. They mostly just shoot air in my experience.

With Firefighter Pack out. What Weapon is better for Ashley Revenant or Cerberus Harrier?

I'm curious as well.  I'm getting a lot of mixed messages about the Harrier. Is it good or not?

For squaddies harrier is hopless as i said. They do fire a lot with the ADAS, but you cant have penetration with ADAS so you squaddies will just shoot the wall a LOT. Stick to the Rev or the particle rifle. The only good new weapon in the pack for squaddies is the punisher smg, they useless with the rest.

Btw ADAS is better for squaddies over the harrier due to the fact they fire more with it. But no penetration and ADAS is bloody loud as hell and you will get a headache if you got 2 squaddies blasting the ADAS all over the place.

Vega stays very much in character when equipped with the Reegar.
Means he acts very stupid and fires it from large distance without any chance to hit an enemy.

Are you sure the Falcon's rate of fire nerf from the multiplayer applies to Single Player? Last time I used it it was still a pretty fast weapon.

Any balance changes made in multiplayer do not apply to single player. This applies to all weapons and powers. Weapons and powers have remained unchanged in single player since the game's release.

How's the M-99 Saber for the squad? If it's good I like to give it to Garrus since he's one of my main squadmate I take for most of the missions.

Giving it to Garrus is pointless, he'll wreck way more with the Black Widow.  The Revenant is better for Garrus because he'll only be using an AR when the enemy is up close.

The Saber is fine for James though because it gives him long distance capabilities he wouldn't normally have.  I give him either the Valkyrie or the Saber to back up his Claymore.  Downside if he's using both the Claymore and Saber is that both guns have a low firing rate.

Just wanted to add some notes about two recently added weapons I took for a spin on some squad members:

The Blood Pack Punisher: really, really awesome addition for squadmates who can use SMGs, definitely better than the Tempest at least. Not having the N7 Hurricane, I can't really compare the two, but I can say this thing is amazing for two reasons:

-High rate of fire. Basically equal to that of the Tempest, with similar damage (on the regular shots).
-The secondary, "Armor-Piercing" shot. For every 8 normal rounds fired, this weapon fires a secondary, "Armor-Piercing" shot automatically. This shot does a surprising amount of damage - two of these will usually bring a Brute's health down a bar (without ammo powers, etc). With squadmates firing this weapon for extended amounts of time (similar to the Tempest) this shot goes off a lot, and with two SMG squadmates using this, Armored enemies melt quickly.

it's definitely my new go-to SMG. On a side note, I'm not really sure how the new Armor-Piercing mod for SMGs will work with it. I'm guessing it'll make the regular shots pierce, but with the Armor-Piercing shot, it it really needed? Or are you better off just using Extended Barrel? Not sure. Oh, and the other weapon I tried:

The Argus: terrible. Just terrible. At least for squadmates. I took it for a spin with Kaidan and Garrus, and they did laughable damage, spending most of their time in cover, popping out once every 5-7 seconds to fire a wimpy burst that does little damage.  Together, they took over 30 seconds to kill a single Cerberus Soldier on Hardcore. Bleh. For comparison, I re-loaded the same save and had them use Vindicators. Took them about 10 secounds to waste a Cerberus soldier. Don't use this on your squadmates.

Maybe you'll find me crazy but I hummm ... I always use the "canon" weapons as displayed in the squadmate menu Posted Image

I really don't know why I feel like I need to play like in the trailers. I never use any of the other armor pieces but the original N7 gear.

Please tell me I'm not the only one Posted Image

Whilst I can't say I've tried giving it James or Tali, I can't imagine it working overly well. Granted it has range, but a single slug and slow firing rate is not imo going to be more efficient than other shotgun options for squadmates. I'd be worried about the liklihood of them missing that one shot. Be interested to know whether the AI handles the Crusader still as a shotgun (so the AI engagement range is medium-short to short) or whether the AI would fire longer range. I did notice Tali with the Reegar seemed to be attempting (fruitlessly) to be targeting and firing at enemies far too far away. If the AI shoots at longer range with the Crusader and is accurate then might be useful I guess...unless they miss. And personally, even Ash and Garrus with sniper rifles seem to miss a lot in my experience.

I don't usually use shotgun squadmates, but I just finished the Rannoch arc with Tali rocking the Crusader, and it actually seemed pretty viable. Weight being irrelevant and accuracy near 100% on squadmates, the two biggest drawbacks of the gun aren't present, and what you're left with is a headshotting sniper rifle with good damage and innate penetration. Keeps her nicely out of harm's way, and lets her provide decent pressure between casts. She wasn't exactly dropping the geth like flies, but it's the first time I've ever had her use a shotgun instead of a pistol and had her actually succesfully hit anything and not suicide madly into the enemy line (Ash with her Indra actually advanced more than Tali did).

No idea how it'd perform on Vega, though.

I myself like Heat Sink and/or extended mag on it as to allow for more AP shots. Depending on my class. For my Vanguard its Heat Sink and Ultra-light Materials, for my soldier its Heat Sink and Extended mag.
But other wise no, the Armor-Piercing mod is't really needed for it IMO. If i were to go for a barrel i'd go for EB to increase damage of the reg shots and AP shot.

We've got new weapons DLC so this thread needs another bump. Come on BSN, let those of us who care know what works for our squaddies and what doesn't. I'd do it myself, but I'm not playing again until Omega.

Weapons are largely irrelevant on squadmates. Squadmates are best used for the powers, not their weapons since you (as Shepard) will do doing the bulk of the killing with both your powers and guns. Squadmates are best used to help set up or detonate power combos. Any killing they do with their weapons is a bonus and a pleasant surprise.
