I gave Ash and James the Lancer for the "all Alliance vs Cerberus" Armax challenge.  It wasn't really any different than various other AR's that I could tell.  So it is probably about as good as Harrier or the Punisher as far as squad goes, which isn't too shabby.

Have not tried Suppressor.  If they land consistent shots with it then I imagine it will be ridiculous.  The burst damage is higher than Harrier, and they don't have ammo to worry about.  The only question will be how long a burst they fire, and how accurate they are.

So which mods are entirely useless?

1) To me it seems like the Ultra Light Materials for sure, unless someone links me to their Cooldowns actually being affected by Weapon Weight.

2) SMG Heatsink? Do they burst more often maybe?

3) How does the +Magazine Size mods actually work for them in the mechanics? For example the Avenger has 30 rounds, 50 rounds with the Weapon Mod, would they shoot 50 rounds and then do a reload(basically a visual thing).

4) So accuracy mods do affect Shotguns, but what about all the other guns?

5) Recoil mod also useless? Any idea if it affects the Hurricane's burst amount with the A.I.?

Thanks for anyone who knows this info, I have always wondered how the A.I. for the Squadmates actually operate.

6) Do the Thermal Scopes allow Garrus to wallhack with the Saber and the Widow if he has his Armor Piercing Ammo and Piercing mod on the Widow? :devil:

1. ULM mods are pointless for squadates (no weapon weight for squadmates).

2 and 3. As far as I know, squadmates fire weapons the same regardless of heatsink/magazine size mods. I may not be the best person to ask since my squadmates are generally always behind me.

4. Depends on the weapon. Accuracy should work on the Talon, most SMGs, and most assault rilfes. Basically any multi-shot weapon with a bullet spread. Weapons that are already accurate like most pistols or the Mattock will not benefit from the accuracy mod on squadmates.

5. Not sure about the recoil. Squadmates will benefit more from accuracy anyway.

6. Thermal scopes, highly doubtful. Squadmates will tend to shoot cover if an enemy is behind it, so Javelin+Armor Piercing mod+AP Ammo would help Garrus wallhack, but the Thermal Scope should not help his A.I. determine where the enemy is to shoot.

I gotta say how overpowered the Typhoon is when Ashley has it, seriously it takes down an atlas in two bursts on Insanity and that's not even upgraded. What weapons are solid but not completely overpowered that takes the challenge out of it?

It is worth noting that the patch's change to SR's has manipulated their hierarchy somewhat.

Black Widow does more damage per shot than a Mantis, so if you have that it now makes sense to use it instead.

Javelin does the most single shot damage and is likely overall the best SR since they will fire the Black Widow and Javelin at basically the same rate.

Indra is even more valuable as a fake AR for squad members since it does a lot more damage per shot. Although all squad members with SR training have AR training anyway.

Viper probably isn't the hot ticket if you have any of the above. It might be a little better on Shepard now though.

Have you tried it on Garrus? It goes something like this:

Shepard: Garrus, see that *insert armored target here* over there?
Garrus: Yep. Why?
Shepard: Think you can take it out?
Garrus: Already done Shepard.
Shepard: WUT?
Garrus: I started shooting it as soon as you said see that *insert armored target here* over there and it died before you finished asking me to kill it.
Shepard: Why isn't everyone using these guns?
Garrus: I don't know but it sure kicks ass!

Thanks for the reply.

1) Maybe someone should do some testing with the Thermal Scope and play on one of the Multiplayer Maps like FBW and see if Garrus shoots guys on the landing pad from the lower computer room.

2)  Maybe the easiest way to test the Magazine Mod is to see if they shoot longer with the Particle Rifle.

3)  The real question is if the Heatsink and Recoil work.

Here's what I always use on each of my squadmates:

Liara = Acolyte
Garrus = Krysae
Javik = Particle Rifle
EDI = N7 Hurricane
James = N7 Typhoon (this gun owns everything)
Tali = Geth Plasma Shotgun
Ashely = Valiant
Kaiden = Scorpion

These seem to work very well as their primary weapons.

There is no official thread. There is this thread where Astreon noticed that the non-DLC single player weapons had received the multiplayer balance changes, and then a few other players noticed that some powers had received some of the balance changes as well.

Not exactly, because Bioware never actually said what was changed.  I PM'd one of the devs and they didn't get back to me or post in the thread where we were discovering this info.

It is fairly safe to assume that non-DLC guns in SP match MP stats.  A couple of SP powers match MP stats now as well.

Do NOT have squadmates use the Kryae. They do not get the explosive AOE effect and I've heard the extra damage against armor is bugged for them. You would be better off equiping him with the valiant or black widow if you have it. Squad members are notably terrible with the scorpion. They miss about 90% of their shots, the only benefit of this is the enemies spend all their time evading rather than shooting back at you. Give him the falcon for AOE fun, or the Harrier if you want good damage.

BTW has anyone reviewed the DLC punisher SMG ? Liara wrecks banshees with the punisher and warp ammo 

EDIT: I backtracked though this thread and found that the AOE bug on th Krysae has been fixed and Garrus goes to town on basic troopers with it. Also seems I may have to buy the other weapons DLC for that typhoon <_< why u steal away all my moneys, bioware ?

Use the Adas. AOE fun with good damage. Can't shoot through objects and hates armor but it slaughters mooks like nothing, especially with indendiary ammo.

If you're an Infiltrator, never ever give the Adas to a squad-mate. That screen shake makes sniping nearly impossible, even with concentration mods.

I comment on the Scorpion and say it makes the enemies run from cover to cover constantly. Liara + Tali on my Soldier Insanity Difficulty, made the game too easy spamming Scorpions.

Does anyone know if the power magnifier mods work on squadmates? I figure it's only appropriate to put those on my biotic squadmates and since squadmates are mainly just used for their powers anyway, it only makes sense to put them on.

Yep, they increase squadmates' power damage as well as Shepard. ;)

Bit of an RPer here:

1) I've tried Vanguard, Sentinel, and Engineer on insane. How it combines with squadmate weapons and powers are subtly different, but not by much.
2) Instead of considering best weapons for 1 member, I usually think about how they work together with the weapns they have.

So, my weapon choices are in team combos:

1)
Tali + Wrex
Double Disciple + Double Executioner OR Double Claymore + Double Scorpion
-This combo is good because most Cat6 mobs have high shields, but Disciples stun right through them. As long as Wrex facerolls way up front and Tali hangs back a bit, all is good. Double Claymore is just for lulz on the clone fight. -Either way, barrel mod for both shotguns. Tali gets choker, Wrex gets omniblade. Pistols should always have the power mod.

2)
Kaidan + Javik
-Double Scorpion with warp ammo from Shepard.
-Kaidan can use any assault rifle, but if you spec him as a turtle then its best to use Geth AR or Particle AR, so that he's soaking damage out of cover. I've been using thermal scope on Geth AR against smoke grenades...if someone can prove whether that works I would be grateful. His weakness is his downtime on Reave, so again I like a fast weapon on him to mitigate downtime.
-Javik's problem is that has no tool against tech shields... so he has to default with Adas. (Yes, it's cheap.)
-Key to this combo is its relatively high defense and the sizable burst against barriers, armor, and swarms.

3) Tali + James
-Double up on shotgun as main weapons... but which ones depend on the mission. As far as I know, Graal and GPS both have an AP mod already built in.
-James usually good with Raider/Claymore. I've seen him fire GPS in bursts, so that could work with Incendiaries...maybe.
-Tali will want either Graal or GPS. Claymore is okay if James also has it. (Micro them for Burst.) Disciple is okay if James also has it. (Micro them for stun.)
-Your problem will be shielded enemies, so plan accordinly. Arc and Paladin are both ok choices for Tali. James can default on Adas or Particle AR if things really look grim.

4) Garrus + Ashley
-Double Black Widow if you are rich. I've seen Garrus global two cannibals in a single animation with it.
-Ashley still sometimes have that marksman bug, but she DOES pop out of cover to take single shots. So specc her marksman for accuracy, and take either Kishok or Javelin. Her AR slot would have to default on Adas, due to a lack of active spells. (You could use Revenant or another fast weapon, but no guarentees it will work with marksman.)
-Garrus...Indra and Raptor are interesting choices. But then you aren't shooting to kill. Put disruptor ammo and smoke scopes, and he'll force cerberus enemies to stay in cover where you can kill them with flank or attrition. You can give him Saber for AR if you are using fast snipers. Otherwise just about any of green, alien-looking gun will do the job.

5) Edi + James
-This is assuming you've specced both as tanks. Give Edi power mods on Executioner, and accuracy/stability on Punisher (assuming those mods actually work...I know some of you have said it doesn't). Geth SMG might be a semi-viable choice if you don't care about damamge and only care abouts supression. Just get James to mod it with incendiaries if you do so.
-James uses Claymore, which will combine with Edi's executioner for burst. AR can be Adas or even Geth AR. Anything that supresses and disrupts.
-Don't take this combo lightly: it can faceroll the Grissom Academy gauntlet on insane. Edi is quite tough if you spec pure defense.

6) Liara + any other biotic
-That is to say, either Kaidan or Javik. With Liara on your team, Kaidan/Javik will serve the same sort of role. Adas or Particle AR  for this guy. Or any other fast and accurate AR of your choice, really. Mod everything with Warp ammo.
-Double Scorpions. Barrel, Power Mod, Warp Ammo.
-Liara's SMG doesn't really matter. You can default on the Punisher. As long as it detonates biotics.

7) James + Garrus
-James will use one of those long-range shotguns with rapid-fire, probably GPS or Graal. Then Saber for AR slot.
-Garrus will use a relatively fast, urban-combat style AR... any one will do. His main punch will come from any one of the power-shot snipers, such as Javalin or one of the Widow variants.
-Use Widow+Saber with AP rounds for big targets far away
-Use (any)AR+GPS with Incendiaries for smaller guys in close quarters
-Be sure to have both a long range weapon and a short range weapon of your own to help them. Even if you are a caster, equip Raptor and Acolyte with weight mods, just in case they get overwhelmed.

Well Mp stats as of Jan 29, the time when patch 1.05 was released and any weapons from the weapon dlc packs and Citadel DLC retain their stats like the Lancer/Typhoon/Krysae.

I'm pretty much all on the Typhoon and Punisher these days. Have to try the Suppressor though.
