That's ridiculous. I don't want a 'depressing' ending because it makes me feel cool and edgy. I want a depressing ending because there's no way this story can end happily.
''Oh, millions of people died? Oh well, let's make some blue babies and ride our unicorn into the sunset!''
As a lot of people have noted, Shepard surviving and reuniting with his/her LI doesnt make it a unicorn ending.
Friends have died, planets are devastated, there's a lot of destruction and death going on already....And I know people are going "I want my blue children", but it wouldn't have to be a cutscene with little children running around. Just showing Shep and the LI reunited and then we can fill in the blanks!

If they do implement a "happy" ending, I'm going to kind of laugh at the ones that don't want it... go for it in the end. The option should just be open towards a happy ending.
That would be grade A hypocrisy.

There should be endings for everyone. From a happy one in which Shepard lives and gets to be with his/her LI to endings where Shepard heroically sacrifices himself to save the day or even sacrifices everything and everyone to make sure the Reapers are destroyed (Even this ending makes sense since if the Reapers aren't beaten, your civilization and all others that come after yours are doomed, might as well make 100% sure this cycle stops)

This. There's nothing wrong with those that think their particular Shepard wants and deserves a happy ending.

Exactly. I don't need (or even want, for that matter) to see the whole family scenario, Garrus saying/suggesting it is just enough. All I want is to see them reunited after the battle, I'm sure the same goes with Tali and Liara fans. To se them hi-five/hug after it is over, and tell each other they had each others' back.Hyrule_Gal wrote...
I don't want to see my femshep baking dextro pies in a cottage or anything but getting pulled out some rubble by your LI for an epic hug would be enough for me. And ending showing that you both made it is all I want, dialogue isn't even needed.

THAT would be a truly good open ended climax. You can leave it ambiguous, but the ambiguity has to have somehwere to launch from.

For example, just the two of them alive (maybe wounded) and side by side and perhaps a kiss, a hug or a quick smile to one another right before the camera goes further an further and you get to see London almost in ruins after the battle, then the system and the relay's remains, then the galaxy and credits.

My plan right now is to somehow trick tim into destroying the reapers or have Anderson do it for me because Tali is the last person you get and you get so little time with her, so little moments with her, and so little on board dialogue she shuts down very soon after Rannoch. fshep and Garrus get soo much back and fourth of comforting each other and I expected similar with Tali and shep not just comforting each other but working out the species difference and any prejudice to their romance but that didn't happen. We couldn't even go on a date with her I loved it that Garrus surprised fshep with break date I was hoping Tali would do one that was sweet and very Talish for mshep.

My vesion of a happy ending would be my Shepard and LI reuniting on a devastated battlefield. While there is death and destruction all around, the fact that the two of them lived and are together would instill the sense of hope that ran through the ME universe. They may make it. They may not. One might live and one might die. But I would be very satisfied if the final scene would be of the two starting to clear the rubble...together.

I have this funny feeling that we only encountered a small part of the Reaper fleet, I would not be surprised if they were to come in for round 2.
And I forgot to answer the question... Yes, I would very much like my Shepie and Liara to be together for a long time after the end of ME3 =)

Would it really ****** some people off if Bioware made an ending where Shepard is pulled out of the rubble alive by his/her LI? Or a cutscene of Shepard looking out across the vast wasteland of earth with their LI by his/her side? Or even a cut scene where you watch Shepard and his/her team mates give each other knowing looks and nods of approval as they set about helping injured soliders (like the end of ME2 where Shepard walks past her team as they clear up the Normandy after the suicide mission.) It's still a "happy" ending but it's in keeping with the rest of ME3's theme.

There's a large and distinct difference between "grimdark" and non-sensical. What we recieved was not grimdark in the least. I really wonder how many people have been playing through the trilogy expecting Shepard to live. Don't get me wrong - I'm not against a happy ending of any sort, but personally ever since the ending to the first game, I've been expecting Shepard to die.
Whether Paragonal or Renegade, Shepard has always been self-sacrificing.

I expected there to be one purely because there's always been a "happy ending" or "good option" in Bioware games. I guess I just presumed that was Biowares "thing" that they done with all their games lol.
