EDIT: The map is now available! Thanks so much for caring about your fans, BioWare!

Original post:

So I was watching the Collector's Edition dvd the other day and saw this beautiful map of the entire continent of Thedas. It's really detailed, had all the town and city names mapped out, and the current Ferelden map seems to be only a small part of it.

My point is, I would like to have a high resolution version of this map to look at. I'm really fascinated with the lore of this universe and wouldn't mind learning more about the world. :D

Anyone know if you can find this somewhere?

Or if a Bioware rep happens to look in here, can we please, please have it? If not now, sometime soon? :beg:

Thanks! Are both Seheron and Par vollen Qunari country?

Par Vollen is the Qunari homeland. Seheron is a former Tevinter client state that is now in Qunari hands and is the location of a lot of the fighting between the Imperium and the Qunari.

Will we possibly see full content packs on the scale of the original game release, which cover other sections of the map, or is that something that would come with a new game?

I have no idea. I imagine that "on the scale of the original game release" is hardly something you would find in a content pack. That seems like an unrealistic expectation.

Is this really all of Thedas or is this just all of the explored Thedas?

It's as much of the world as they know about. If you picture Ferelden as being about as large as England, that'll maybe give you a comparison as to roughly how large the continent is. Solo80 on the previous page is correct in his assumptions, though I doubt the southern edge gets all the way to the poles (or anywhere near). It is much cooler that way, and the continent extends a fair ways south of the Korcari Wilds into the icy wastelands that the Chasind are said to come from.

approximately how large is the known part of Thedas (I remember Alistair said that Weisshaupt was "over a thousand miles away")?

I already said you could compare Ferelden to England in size. Thedas is a bit smaller than Europe.

Khal Sharok seems to be very far away from Orzammar, so it makes me wonder, how far into the Deep Roads we venture in Origins? Looking at the map I have no problem believing that the Anvil of the Void or some of the far-off thaigs might be under the Dales?

It's possible they were under the Dales, yes. I wouldn't say it went much further than that.

Given the name; is Qundalon Qunari territory? If so, why has there been no mention of Qunari-Ander conflict IIRC? Come to think about it, why no Qunari-Antivan conflict? In recent times that is.

Qundalon is Qunari, yes. As for why there's no mention, we simply don't talk about every single thing in the game, especially when it's unrelated to the plot at hand. There are elf-blooded humans, for instance, but do we mention that in the game. Does that mean they don't exist in the world? Certainly not. They are spears and horses, but you don't see them in the game. Does that mean they don't exist in the world? Certainly not.

That and there is no current conflict with the Anders since the end of the last Exalted March. Qundalon is not part of Anders territory -- it's a Qunari colony.

And are the white spots in the sea near Val Royeaux remnants of a former super-bridge, an Imperial Highway shortcut?

Correct.

I don't see the shining sea marked on that map. In the ending it says that darkspawn warbands cross the shining sea through the deep roads.

Interesting. A mistake, I imagine. Probably meant the Waking Sea... we do get the occasional errors creeping into the Codex and such over the years. That's what you get when you change the map and the plot and so forth a dozen times over six years. Posted Image
