Thane every single time.

Thane managing to slow down Kai Leng while ill would be similar to me managing to stop a professional MMA fighter while having an asthma attack. Dammed impressive.

I'd like to think that a properly written and scripted KL against Thane would be more of a "who hits first" instead of a protracted fight, both are trained to make the first hit the killing blow.
Unfortunately what we got in the game was a rather underwhelming tool in the guise of KL.

Defeating a whole platoon isn't all that impressive in the MEverse, in fact it could be fairly common for the elite characters such as spectres and STG. Nihlus did the same thing(talk to Jenkins in ME1).

Also in terms of hand to hand combat in amongst the ME game cast:
Wrex>Shadow Broker>Samara>Thane>Saren>Miranda>Zaeed>Grunt>Garrus>Legion>Jack>Anderson>Kaiden>Jacob>Ashley>Tali>Liara(post ME1)>Kasumi>Jenkins>Joker

Properly written KL would be around the level of Zaeed/Grunt in a straight fight, around Thane if he gets the jump on someone.

ME3 kiddy KL is just crap.

In my opinion of course.

In all seriousness, though, Thane in perfect health would have made the war a whole lot easier.  No Kai Leng = no interruptions on Thessia or the Cerberus base.  Kai Leng is one lucky doucher that Keprals Syndrome exists.  <_<

It'd be interesting.

I believe Kai Leng would win due to his upgrades. I mean, he can literally stop bullets being fired at him.

Without the upgrades, Thane would win.

With Healthy Thane the only way Kai would win is if he got the drop on him, but seeing as how being an assassin Thane would be trained to detect such manuevers I don't see it happening.

As for other squad mates there aren't that many I'd say he could take on without the assassin drop who aren't specialists.

, Yeah I know the BSN is to hate on ME3 Kai but objectively looking at the fight


Thane is clearly  losing the opening scuffle and pulls his gun when Kai is to go fro a kill

HA HA HA HA HA!!!! You win man! I'm so glad I'm not the only person who felt that. Kai Leng is totally the General Grievous of ME3 in every way. Both are characters that were hyped in other media to the point that their exploits were ludicrous but when you play the game (or watch the movie in the case of ROTS) you are underwhelmed since they both summarily get their ****es kicked.

I had hopes for Kai Leng being more of an anti-Shepard and less of a pansy **** space ninja who runs away to recharge his shields and has a Gunship as his backup. I at least hoped for a Solid Snake vs Liquid Ocelot (battle of equals) type of fight but even that was hoping for too much. I'm just glad that I wasn't one of those people who thought KL should beat up Shepard. It didn't make much sense to me.

When a Thane who was so sick he had to ask LI femShep to, you know, take it easy on him can still almost take out Kai Leng...I'd suggest a healthy Thane would wipe the floor with him.
