Not really a problem in a universe in which everybody uses guns.

please... the sword is useless... I play vangaurd, I was using Charge at will without fear of the sword. By the time swung...I rolled backwards and was lightinning him up with the Mattock96. The only thing Kei Leng was able to hit was air.
it was actually funny.

It takes uh... over 500 bullets to kill Kai Leng while Thane dies only few shots in ME2.
He means story-wise, not gameplay-wise

Healthy Thane is powerful. But maybe his health would only postpone his death.

On top of that from a story perspective I think he was meant to be an extremely overpowered character. That's why he's able to fight Shepard and his/her squad by himself for considerable lengths of time. I don't think Thane would do as well in the same situation against equally skilled opponents.
In another note I'm not exactly sure why he chooses to fight with just a sword throughout ME3. In the novel he used a sword and pistol combination.

So Thane takes out five Eclipse mercs by himself? Kai Leng did the same thing, taking out five, miltary seasoned turians all with just a knife and a heavy pistol. At the time he didn't even have cybernetic enchancements he now has in the game. Heck, at the time he wasn't even wearing protective armor or a shirt for that matter.

I'm a bit disappointed about the changes they made to Kai Leng though... In the books he was a seasoned N7 specialist with an extreme view of things. He was a top assassin able to use a great variety of weapons etc. And what happened? He was degraded to a space ninja... Anderson should have saved the one bullet and put the other one through Leng's head instead of the knee caps.

That's within the borders of reasonable gameplay and story segregation in my opinion.
A healthy Thane would have steamrolled that guy.

I was ticked off that it was scripted, because I had his shields down so quickly that it seemed like that gunship never had a chance to recharge ITS shields.
I honestly think for a character that was supposed to be the Anti-Sheppard, they did a bad job of translating that into game-play. He just seemed to be a cheep parlor villian. It wasn't the scripting, I loved to hate that guy. It was the fact that he did not seem dangerous at all to me. He should have had far more health - damage resistance, and the ability to traverse the battlefield better.
As it was, Charge - Nova - Nova, Wait for his shields to come back was boring, and the inclusion of the backup squad in the final fight was barely an afterthought.
Then again, with my Vanguard, I felt like I could take on Harbringer (and was ticked that I didn't get any chance to fight Harbringer in any form at all.)

Thane has been trained since birth to be an assassin and has more experience. He knows how to kill a Krogan close up as well. As evident by the files on him in the Shadow Broker base. You could argue that he may not have ever killed a Krogan. But that his bullS.hit. He is a trained assassin and an experienced one. You really think him just making up a tactic to fight Krogan close up would allow him to have that long of a career? No. He would have died a long time ago. The plan he came up with for dealing with them close up was from experience.
Kai maybe ex N7. But Thane is a born assassin. If he wasn't worth a damn then the Illusive man would not have even chosen him for Shepards squad.
Also. It is obvious that any squad member from ME1, ME3 and ME2 could beat Kai. This is evident by the fact that he and Miranda fought at "Sanctuary". If he had won do you really think he would have left her alive? REALLY? The illusive man had his f.ucking grunts execute KELLY for leaving Cerberus...KELLY. A ex member who was no longer a threat and whos sole duty before leaving was that of a yeoman and a psychiatrist of sorts. Wtf do you think he would do with Miranda for leaving Cerberus? Who before leaving was the Illusive mans best agents and even allowed to talk to him face to face in the same room. And was an actual threat to him after leaving. She even talks about how Cerberus are not gunning for her.
There is no way in hell that Kai would just let her live after beating her. Hell I think he was even ordered to kill her. Result? She's fought him, she lives and only had a minor wound. It is obvious she kick the s.hit out of him and he cheesed it at the end.
