So I watched this scene a couple of times, and I can't help that it foreshadows somthing to come. While this may have been cited in so many posts, I just wanted to share my own thoughts. While my only issue with the actual ending is that it felt incomplete, I believe the stargazers have something more important to do with what we should expect, rather than a random scene of a grandfather telling his grandson about Shepard.

The ending line has the little kid asking for one more story, and the grandfather (assumption on relationship) saying "ok just one more..." which leads me to believe that there has to be more to the story than what we know already. While this could simply mean we will get more DLC that is prior to the ending, and possibly some conclusion to the ending, but I have my doubts.

So, I figured I may share a bit of what I think the stargazer ending may be also. When we hear that "some of the details have been lost in time" to me, thats a cop out. Its a way of saying "yeah some other stuff could have happened, but no one really knows since all that stuff happened a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away (note they are not on earth). That means that your choices had impact, but they aren't going to tell you what the lasting effects were outside of your last decision.

That being said, I suppose it raises another question about the "legend" because who would know aside from the normandy crew exactly what happened in the end? we know the crew got stranded...how would such a legend even come about? Sure he was a famous war hero who people thought was bonkers until they were being anihilated, almost all transmissions were difficult to impossible...so this story comes from?

Finally I suppose I will indulge in my own interpretation of the Star gazers and maybe the purpose, but really only my perception of it. SInce we are not given names nor relationships here, I see the old man as a representation of the last Reapers/catalyst, telling the amazing story of Shepard and how he was able to do what no other person could, and end the cycle. The story is told fondly because the cycle was only supposed to continue until a being such as Shepard would come about and be able inspire what he has in so many races and civilizations. The reaper cycle is represented by the old man because it is now at the end of its time. The kid represents the galatic civilzations, still young, yet at the point in life where they are entring into "adulthood." No longer bound by the last generations, they have been given the ability to move forward in the galaxy and explore more freely without the threat of being wiped out. I also feel that the kid in the beginning of the game who dies and has no hope is supposed to represent those civilizations that were cut down just before they had a real chance to take off further on their own..

Well, those are my thoughts, please enjoy whether you agree or disagree :-)
