Well, personally I dont have a problem with this. So long as you guys are acting maturely it's all good.

Is it possible to be mature while treating their "campaign" as a military operation and shouting "HOLD THE LINE!" every 10 minutes?

I'm not sure it is ...

Sorry but I disagee with you all on this , this is like telling the leonardo devinci to change the way the Mona Lisa is cause you didnt like it. I enjoyed the game, ending and all. I will however wish you luck, cause I really don't see anything thats gonna happen.

Leonardo da Vinci didn't ask me to buy DLC.  Also, the Mona Lisa was a commissioned work that he never finished, so he didn't get paid for it. I did pay for ME3, which also seems unfinished.

You are right: Bioware is able to do whatever it likes with Mass Effect 3. That includes standing by their guns and not changing anything. However, I have the right to express my views on their product and use their response to guide my future buying decisions. If what I buy is important to them then they should take my feedback into account.

Bioware doesn't want to become a studio of "starving artists" who refuse to "sell out." That is called going out of business. They are in this for profit, ultimately, not for the elevation of the medium. However, if they can have both, we all win. :)

Well, at least I'm not seeing anymore posts around BSN about people losing sleep and missing work because of how depressed they were over a video games ending, so it's an improvement :P

Seriously though, so long as they avoid bashing Bioware just for the sake of it, and both sides refrain from calling each other 'whiners' and '****s', It's all good.

We have reached a consensus that you are all acting like morons.

Ruining it for the rest of us because you wanna QQ about the ending?

We have a chance to get some sort of mega pack, and you want to "Boycott" it? Yeah that's just it, you are acting like little whiny baby boys, not men.

Grow up. Shouldn't you all at least ACT like you are 18+ to play the game anyways?...

The Retake movement has just begun to organize and is asking everyone that supports the movement to Boycott Operation Goliath in a show of solidarity against the bad decision that Bioware made.

By splintering the player base into those who like multiplayer and those who do not... you accomplish something very convenient for the PR folks over at Bioware/EA.

Oh well.  Looks they might pull through this debacle unscathed.  Very sad.

If you want to hold the line, you should take a look at the first post of this thread:

It's long, but it's worth reading.

-I think you would be surprised as to how much military jargon and tactics have influenced marketing and business.

Been playing Mass Effect 3 for a day, ME3 is somewhat enjoyable. BUT... BioWare pulled a Dragon Age 2 with it. They removed scanning of planets, hacking puzzles, bypass puzzles on doors, needing minerals for research. Now you just get money, find guns and mods lying around and BUY everything. Game also has a VERY sterile feel, lack of any dialog, and the Consolizing of the ME Universe. I guess I should have expected this, since the majority of console-folk want things HANDED to them.

ME3 so far is the weakest of the series. Don't even get me started on the forcing multiplay crud. ;)

I actually LIKE what I have read about the endings. I am a sucker for sad or realistic gut-punch endings. :)

Agree with OP.
Holding the line.

P.S. to those calling those of us who care and are trying to affect change, as people with "no life" -- what are you doing in here watching us, then? :P

For the sake of a series we all love, and for a story that was sundered by such an inadequate ending, I will hold the line.

I hope that Bioware will do right by us and re-establish itself as perhaps the only company that listens so closely to its fans. We're waiting for them to do the right thing.

Just remember to be polite and respectful at PAX East. Remember all it takes is one person to blow it by being insulting. (I mean doing something wear an insulting costume about the ending or something or coming color coded)

Three weeks from now, I will be harvesting my crops. Imagine where you will be, and it will be so. Hold the line! Stay with me! If you find yourself alone, riding in the green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled. For you are in Elysium, and you're already dead!

Man, does anyone else feel it ? the BSN has a heavy atmosphere lately...It's as if people want to tear eachother apart or something ...

You are right. This deserves analysis. Why does this matter so much? Because to some people it clearly is important.

I am gonna copy and paste from some rambled thoughs I wrote somewhere else just now:

"I honestly believe this is part of a larger existential problem in contemporary life where people just want something true in their lives and as pathetic as it may seem a game nowadays can kinda do that in the same way a book potentially can. And for outsiders who play games and find involvement with a community through games in the way they might not in real life this stuff is important. It's part of why they buy the game at all and underneath everything I think thats why people are angry as hell. Maybe it just means in the end that games can't deliver on this, maybe David Jaffe is right games should just be about gameplay, after all it's why iOS makes so much money. And why Call of Duty does too, even if you hate it there isn't any further substance to it that's for sure."

Here's the full thing: http://social.biowar...1545/3#10296800

I personally would be happy with another ending at the end of the day I just don't care. I regard that however as a failing in terms of the criteria for judgement/critique of the terms of success/failure that the game defines itself and which clearly is engendered by the creators of this game who do want me to care (I think). But my expectations had been lowered so much after the demo and rumours of the bogus ending. It was just a screw up. However even if people are basement dwellers and ugly trolls who are not able to fit into society as some people here are labelling them (I say this as one of them, partly from health issues), I honestly don't think anyone who posts on BSN has a stick to swing at against anyone else here - because if you do have something else better to do then why aren't you doing it instead of saying 'DO NOT SUPPORT THESE WHINERS' etc etc...

Myself I can walk away from it, I am not angry as much as I am extremely interested to see how this plays out. I have so many other more pressing things to be upset about and depressed about frankly. With that said I wholeheartedly support this movement because the potential dynamics between interactivity and 'ownership/authorship' of a IP is so interesting, plus I do think it's a screw up.

(On a side note: I agree with Indoctrination Theory, I just think they didn't pull it off, that's all - they failed to convince the player/audience of that in the story - and especially as this is the most 'cinematic' of these kind of games it can easily be critiqued in this manner).

Meh.

I've been trying to avoid BSN the last few days since it seems to have a habit of triggering symptoms of my depression lately, and 200 milligrams of Zoloft can't hold the line against that much negativity.

On one hand, I hate the endings and hope they change them.

On the other hand, way too many people are supporting Bioware, and some of the people on BSN in general have been so dickish lately, I wonder if it's even worth standing with you people...
