Yeah Kaiden is more like a cardboard box that answers back with regulations :?

I don't see too many soldiers or military personnel in real life that are overweight or out of shape.

Heh... you obviously don't hang around many military bases.  :)

True since PT tests were instituted it's gotten BETTER... but most soldiers do their morning PT and then just go home.  They aren't in the gym THAT much.

I did. I liked Ashley the boomstick carrying soldier, not the ex-catwalk model

I agree.

Not that either hairstyle does much for her attitude, just a personal grudge.

So, so, SOOOOOOOOOO true.

There's a lot of the them that are honestly in need of work more than PT can give.

Yeah... the attitude did get a little... "clingy/judgemental" instead of the "this is me, this is what you get" attitude of ME1...

I liked her more when her face wasn't buried under an inch of makeup. Of course, I didn't like her much before, but now I avoid her.

I liked the old Ashley way better. The new Ashley looks like she is auditioning for jersey shore.

When I first saw the reveal, I was like, "Dayum, gurl." At first, I was all about Ashley getting a makeover. Then I saw what they did to Liara, and the addition of Diana Allers, and suddenly it just became, "Let's make everyone in this game smoking hot and single."

...and then I saw through it and said, "Actually, could I get the old ones back? I liked Liara before the boob job, and as much as people think Ashley was a cold xenophobe, the stuff she said made sense." I enjoyed the wildcat, much more than the cardboard box that is Kaiden Alenko. I usually let him die on Virmire just because he cried about his L3 implants giving him headaches all the time. I considered it an act of mercy.

They were both okay, except the Ashley in ME3 wasn't the Ashley in ME1 + 2.

I don't know why they went for the redesign.  To make her "sexier"?  Is that a natural character progression?

Characters start out as tomboyish blacklisted space marines and end up as sexkitten lieutenant commanders as they move up the ranks?  Is that something that the Alliance Military encourages?

(If so, sign me up.)

Similar to the post above, I thought the over-sexing of Mass Effect was getting a little ridiculous.  Maybe if they thought their entire fanbase was 14-year old guys.  Oh wait... that would start to make sense then.

Her ME1 design as just...bad.

ME3 is much better. IF she wasn't attractive in this game, there wouldn't be an attractive squad member. Don't think Bioware would've wanted that.

I guess the idea was "Ash is a bit more laid back now, she's let her down". Not subtle, but true I reckon. Also this age old arguement of people being made attractive in games is daft. If you bake a cake, you don't drop it on the floor at the end and scrape it up to make sure that it's politically correct and not too pretty.

All the dudes are ripped. I don't see being healthy as a bad example to set in gaming.

I would have preferred that when in combat missions her hair is up, but when she is on the ship or the citadel her hair is down. Although this would probably be technically more difficult.

Is she "Sexier" now?

If you're into stereotypical Hollywood feminine appearance and attitude... uh, I guess.

Personally I liked her better before, but then, that was the whole point of this.

Interesting to see the differing opinions tho.

Yeah they went over sexy with Ashley -- also her face was changed, too, made more pouty and so on. Was a bit jarring and out of character for her, I found.

The hair is not the problem, but this gorillaish face… Looks like there's tonnes of Botox in there.

I don't really care for characters being so overly "sexualized" it just seems too much in my opinion. I didn't mind the plain Jane no-nonsense Ashley, it seemed more realistic. I felt the same with Samara and Miranda.

Anyone who has an eye for that sort of thing, how similar is her face from ME1 compared to ME3? The hair throws it off for me personally and I don't see a major difference but I could be wrong.

Anyway, I like her better with the hair down: more feminine and attractive. The bun makes her look a little severe even if it makes sense that she would wear it up to have it out of the way. As for the uniform, yeah the Star Trek mini-skirt look might not have been the best idea but instead having her in the same off duty clothes from the first game and a more armored appearance on the battle field (which you can select) I think is truer to the character.

It's not like she was fat and out of shape in ME1.  Or Liara was hitting the Asari buffets a little bit too often before she met Shepard.  They were all in shape and "healthy".  They were both attractive already.

Then they both went and got boob jobs.

ME3 Ashley was super pretty IMO.
