So I've read through some of the posts and while I'm disappointed at the endings, it's only for lack of choice (a detail which Bioware had held onto as their main distinct quality). The endings, while it can sort-of make sense, feel so deterministic in that no matter what you do, how many races you unite and how much of a paragon/renegade you've been, who you let live and die, who you were friendly or adverse to, all those decisions ultimately just boil down to a multiplier that determines whether or not earth is scorched or survives. Either way, galactic civilization is destroyed with the relays gone, and I guess because of that, most people end up dying anyway.

I guess my problem isn't with bleak outcomes. I can understand the far more powerful emotional impact of a dead protagonist (though my Sheperd lived). However, like most people, I found the endings disatisfying for their lack of closure and choice. It was anticlimactic almost.

I've started a second playthrough because I'm just that kind of person who needs to have a "perfect" story, but it's hard knowing that it all ends in roughly the same way.

The endings offer very little choice as well. Was the lesson that no matter what Sheperd did, it didn't matter? That he/she must ultimately play within the parameters of the Catalyst/Reapers? With the relays destroyed, does that mean that the ME universe ends with 3? Could there be other games/media set AFTER the events of ME3? As an absolute fan of the franchise, I would hope so—and obviously, EA/Bioware sees huge financial incentive in a franchise as lucrative as this.
