So my desktop is very powerful, and I can max everything out with no problems. But, I wanted to see how it would run on my laptop.

My specs are: Core2Duo T8300 (2.4ghz), 2gb ram, 8400m GS 128mb. Windows 7.

On all settings turned to the lowest, at 1024*768 resolution I get around 12-18 fps, depending on if there is a battle or not. The game feels fairly smooth. There is a little chopiness, but not intolerable. Putting the resolution to 800*600 and I get about 5fps average increase.

I tested it at a point after the origins while fighting a few enemies and having 3 other people in my party.

Just thought I would let people know how my fairly weak laptop handles the game. Although, the only thing that is really weak about it is the very weak video card.

But the game, is playable on the laptop. Even though 12-18 sounds low, it actually isn't extremely choppy, even during battles. Although, I didn't try it during larger battles, nor do I plan to. I just thought I would give it a test run.

Decent specifications. Bad graphical card.

Seems the game is a little heavier than I expected though. No problem for me, my laptop is quite the bad-ass.

Dude, you are my hero. I'm buying the game tomorrow, even though I wasn't sure if my laptop would be able to handle it or not. But you have about my EXACT same specs, except my graphics card is 256MB. So now I'm psyched, because I know I'll be able to play tomorrow. Again, you rock. :D

I'm definitely playing on my laptop. Probably high settings if I can't max them.

MSI GT 725-075
  • Centrino 2 "Monteniva" 2.43 (OC'd to 2.93) Ghz
  • 4GB DDR2(3?) RAM
  • ATI Radeon Mobility HD 4850
  • Vista 64
  • Creative X-Fi ExpressCard

NP. Just remember that I tested at an early part in the game. On my desktop, I am much further and have encountered areas with like 7 enemies on screen, so it may not be quite as smooth.

But I would say you will be fine playing the game if your specs are indeed what you say they are.

for further reference points for those wanting to know about laptop specs I'll throw in my input.

Windows7

Intel C2D 2.4Ghz P8600

ATI 3670 512mbDDR3

6GB DDR3 ram

@ 1920x1080/Medium graphics/high textures/no AA/no frame-buffer fx - in starting area still don't want to spoil anything but getting ~40FPS ranging 35-49 but hangs well around 40FPS, not bad! Although I suspect lower if I went into a larger area, like outdoors b/c I'm in an indoor area

@1280x720 same settings as above getting ~74-80 avg going up to 90 and dipping into mid 60's.

and for whatever @1400x1050 (4:3) same settings hanging around 54FPS

so there ya go laptop wonderers.

can do more tests if you'd like. but to be honest I believe these FPS are a tad high b/c of the area I'm in.. I'm in a smaller area place, duno how big it is, but it's indoors so not much distance drawing. I suspect maybe 5-10FPS drop if I were outdoors in the open with tons of trees or whatever, like the elf starting area.. but I'm too lazy to test that out right now.

Judging by that. I should have no problem with at least medium/high.

Windows Vista (Still waiting on that Windows 7 confirmation e-mail. Slackers)

2.0 Quad Core processor (By the way, does Dragon Age: Origins support quad-cores?)

6GB RAM (I suspect DDR3 - how do you check that anyway?)

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M.

aznguyen316, i have almost the same laptop as you. only difference is i have a slightly slower graphics card (3650 instead of 3670) and a slightly faster cpu (Intel C2D 3.06Ghz T9900 instead of C2D 2.4Ghz P8600). can you check if the game is playable with Very High graphics/High textures/no AA/no frame-buffer fx at 1280x800 resolution? that's what i would like to play at if possible haha. thanks!

Close enough! I Love the Gateway FX series, unbelievable value and it has been my most reliable computer to date, period! It's a P-7801u, bought it just under 6 months ago. I've named it Ferdinand-Xavier Gatewaytonshire the First... I should stop talking now.

Hey, I'm still undecided on whether I should get Dragon Age for PC or 360....

Not sure if my Laptop is able to support it very well, mainly because of my processor.

I just want to get some opinions on what someone would prefer if in my position.

Here are my Laptop Specs:

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650

AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile ZM-82 2.20Ghz

4.00 GB DDR2

Vista 64-bit - transferring to Windows 7 very soon

I've only own this laptop for a couple months. Only game I've really played that was demanding was Champions Online which I could play on highest settings with shadows off.

Anyone know if will be able to play this on medium setting at least? or if I would be better of just getting it for xbox 360.

Just a suggestion for all the people with slower notebook video cards: very often fillrate is the bottleck on such cards, so try disabling framebuffer effects and reducing resolution. With those settings I was able to play even on medium settings on my 9300M.

Have anyone tried the game on a 8600M GT DDR3,2.2GHz C2D and 2-3GB RAM?

I really want to know whether mine runs the game or not.
