I felt like the entire Cortez story was wedged into already great content. Why?

and here i am, wondering how bad the WTF faces would be if cortez were actually bisexual, had a wife instead of a husband, and the game gave you the option of shacking up with him regardless of your gender. i can almost see the raging of the homophobes over that possibility :P

Cry me a river. His story was no more obtrusive than any other, except he was an anus-invader. If he had kept saying he lost his wife instead of his husband you wouldn't even notice.

How was Traynor any different?

Stay classy, BSN.

I disliked how he kept mentioning his "husband". Like the devs just HAD to take every opportunity to show that they were 'tolerant' by having a ****** character.

Yeah he had a husband who he loved, who died horribly.
I wonder if it had been a wife, would you be saying the same.

No I wouldn't, for obvious reasons.

My point was would you consider it in your face?
Or would you accept that his wife was a part of his character and backstory?

Because that's all it is. His husband serves as a reminder of the people who were killed by the Collectors and the people affected by that.

Whole thing is just so painfully forced. Like the male and female extras on the Normandy, Cortez and Traynor. They were so obviously made gay just to appease the crazies on this forum. Gotta love how they tease straight males with Traynor.

i didn't know traynor was a lesbian until i watched the romance video with her. i assumed that my male shepard just effed somewhere in the dialogue before so she wasn't interested

My biggest complaint from Mass Effect 2 was the auto shuttles that flew themselves.

Glad to see BioWare listened and added a shuttle pilot.

I actually liked that. I think the addition of Cortez just removed much of the traditional Joker-Shepard banter and added an unnecessary intermediary.

The interaction between Cortez and James is very entertaining. And I liked his story a lot.

Cortez made imo much more sence to me, then Rupert.....

ESTEBAN!!!! Yeah I liked Cortex's Character, well designed, good voice acting ... even he is gay ... he gave his trust of his life to protect Shepard no matter what so yeah. It was interesting to interact with him. I love those conversations between him and Vega ... one hell of a show

Now here's the real question. If Cortez was straight and had lost his wife, would he be written throwing around the word wife every chance he got?

Damn it, why is it that if a gay character is ever added, everyone:
. Makes a big deal about it and at the same says "it's not a big deal"
. Any poor writing or poor development critique = "homophobe, bigot, neanderthal"

I've said nothing against his sexuality. All I've done is imply that they made him out to be some kind of weakling moron(surely that's a bad example to set?), but I'm getting treated as some kind of bigot for that. And people wonder why we can't just get along? It's because neither "side" is mature enough to do so yet!

Those idiots are going to rage anyway.  Best to just let them do it and then point and laugh at them.

I'm sure you'd be a weakling moron if you lost your spouse as well. Just saying.

The comments weren't actually directed at you. Your comments, as far as I can tell, haven't been polluted by the same vitriol that Agamo's have. Big difference between what he's said and what you've said.

which is why i'm extremely amused at the things that make people say it was forced. then again, i also saw a lot of parallels between the female krogan and the republican "war on women" in the US, although i have no idea if it was intentional or not.

I wasn't aware talking to him was central to the story.

Oh that's right its not, and you don't have to.

probably unintentional.  The republicans have just recently started going off the cliff into insanity.  It would be hilarious to watch if it didn't actually affect peoples lives.

He mentioned "his husband" twice in my playthrough, and I think I did all the available conversations with him. Not exactly "throwing it around". Also, nice to finally have a sci-fi universe in which equal mariages are a non-issue and homophobia is non-existent.

True, he talks about his loss and getting over his husband, but God forbid teh ghay people talk about their significant other's they have lost and who they miss.

Judging BSN so hard right now...

<_<

PS: For everybody "not realizing Samantha was gay" - please, she mentions like in her first/second conversation she finds EDI's voice attractive. Also, she's not "a tease" for straight male gamers, for **** sake

probably, yeah, but it still adds a very amusing secondary context to the whole plotline that had me slow-clapping every five minutes while hearing eve speak.

When you first meet her and she apologizes to EDI for finding her voice attractive/seductive (cant remember the exact word) its kinda a dead giveaway...well was to me anyway.
