I felt like the entire Cortez story was wedged into already great content. Why?

probably unintentional. The republicans have just recently started going off the cliff into insanity. It would be hilarious to watch if it didn't actually affect peoples lives.

lol

You feel safe stating that on an internet foum don't you. Republicans are plunging into insanity...and yet you are the one making broad sweeping generalizations? Your logic is worse than Star Boy's.

Ridiculous.

This is what conservatives actually believe.

Not all of us I'm sorry to say, my misguided liberal friend.

YOU DON'T EXIST! YOU'RE MYTHICAL! LALALALALALALA I'M NOT LISTENING!

but seriously, glad to see there are people who don't play to stereotypes :)

Same old story really. 2 sides, each hurling names and stereotypes. Meanwhile, the rest of the world just gets on with their day to day lives and ignores the lot of them.

I actually quite liked his story. Thought it was quite touching. I actually wish he hadn't been a love interest simply because it would have made his mourning all the more touching. As it is, he seems to get over it quite quickly.

Personally, I think it would have been a ballsy move to make Vega gay and only gay. Rather than making the new "main" character straight, and the "side" characters gay.

That was my statement and yes I do feel fine making that statment.  In what sane universe does making an election issue out of freaking birth control constitute sound sane election strategy.  The republicans have gone so far beyond the concept of "insane" it needs its own concept made up for it.

Cortez was pretty cool OP, I'm glad he was in the game. He didn't detract anything in the game.

He was there to cater to the gay rights campaigners that have plagued this forum for years. And as I've always said, time spent on him would have been far better used to improve other characters in the game. I'd much rather spend bar time with Garrus as would 99% of the playerbase.

Cortez was a time waster. He sucked up your time to find closure and we've seen this exact subplot outline in previous games such as garrus for example in ME1 and ME2 for that matter. What bothered me wasn't the content or that it was there. It was that in a relatively short ME game, the time and dev of the story/character/etc could have been better spent elsewhere such as ....

He was a time waster, one i didn't mind, but still a time waster.

That's pretty much the only problem I had with it too. It's a lot like Kasumi in ME2. She's supposedly devastated about the loss of Keiji... and yet 5 seconds onto the Normandy and she wants to jump Jacob's bones.

He doesn't do much, doesn't go on missions other than as a pilot. His story is interesting in a sorry you lost your mate way. But, I don't get why he was there.

I have no problem with him being gay, its the character's life, he could be anything as far as I am concerned but you already had so many other characters. James is good, there is no forcing his characters' story into the script.

I felt from the moment I met Cortez that he was not needed to fill out mass effect 3 or 1 or 2.. Why could you call him of all people and not your mom to say goodbye.. ? Weird..

I felt that the writers wanted to add someone controversial to the mix to remove attention from the lack of other stories.

In what way is Steve controversial?

No of course not, You'll just keep spouting how and mighty you are for having an omnipresent viewpoint.

Because **** LGBT gamer community, we heterosexuals want a bit more pandering/epic bromances in our game (which there already is aplenty)!

He was one more character making up a rich backdrop for the universe. Even if he didn't play a big role I think it added to the game giving him a story rather then just leaving him mute. If anything I wish there was a way the could have included similar interactions for all the other silent members of the Normandy's crew.

Didn't mind Cortez. Kaiden really blind-sided me with his gayness though. His whining throughout the entire game didn't help either. I really wanted to go back and have him killed instead of Ashley.

Ashley whines exactly as much.  If not more.

Not sure in what way I've been "high and mighty". All I've done is hold the middle ground, and try to get the 2 sides to show equal respect.

My biggest complaint from Mass Effect 2 was the auto shuttles that flew themselves.

Glad to see BioWare listened and added a shuttle pilot.

I actually liked that. I think the addition of Cortez just removed much of the traditional Joker-Shepard banter and added an unnecessary intermediary.

The shuttles weren't automatic, Shepard beats the door to the cockpit in Jack's mission for the pilot to go faster, they just removed this wall that separated them in ME3.

Kaidan's got a pretty nice ass too ya know   Pfff! Ninja'd :pinched:

Also, I enjoyed Esteban (obviously *points down*), his friendship with Vega was tons of fun.

I was very fond of Cortez as a character, my Shep(female) and he were good friends and I liked the relationship. My wife just loved him as well, she was talking about making her own Shep so she could get with him. I don't see him as controversial, what, because he had a husband? It's the 21st century and ME has had LGBT characters from the start.

Homophobes don't deserve respect. Any group of people who willfully ostracize and oppress another group of people just because of whom they are do not deserve respect of any kind.

That's no really "inflammatory" to either side dude. I stood by neither. People will attack it with their own agenda's and in doing so pretty much solidify the point.

They aren't all "homophobes" Miss. Fighting fire with fire doesn't really work either.
