But really, just look up gameplay and reviews, and there's even a site to demo it, but i've lost the link.

Do try the demo. Just know that you only get to play the beginning which is pretty linear but it's not long.

its great, good story and charakters, your choices really matter.
Most of thr reviews tell the truth about the witcher 2 so i would say you can trust the reviewers in this case.

It will be good therapy since your choices really do change the course of the game, and it is a top quality cinematic game with writing that is actually deep and nuanced rather than "let's confuse the player and pretend it's deep."greengoron89 wrote...
Might pick this one up next month - still need to wash the taste of ME3 out of my mouth.

To boot, CDProjekt Red is a company that is geniunely concerned with its customers' well being : They listen to feedback and respond accordingly.Sure, they may have an agenda behind this, but even then, it's refreshing to deal with them.
The combat, funnily enough, fulfill the Dragon Age 2 moto "Think like a general, fight like a spartan." : It's tight, fast and visceral but require a healthy bit of preparations and tactics at higher level of difficulties.Though I'd suggest you watch videos about it.
The story is mature, even though sometimes its maturity is forced down your throat (see : Brothel, dying people...). The degree of branching paths offer the feeling that it's really your story.
Also, as opposed to ME, in which choices matters in the next game, your choices have consequences later on in the game. It's different.
tl;dr : Yes, it's really good. Yes, it'll make you forget about ME3. Yes, you should buy it.

You will play a completely different story in a different part of the world after the first act depending on your decisions in Act 1... it's really quite unique and offers some genuine replay value as the next time you play you can make different choices to experience the different stories in different parts of the world.
One of my favorite games of all time.
Oh and for the boys (i.e. 90%+ of you gamers out there), there's boobs and naked ladies too in the game

Is it true the game actually changes depending on your choices? I heard that if you pick one choice you go somewhere, pick the other and you go somewhere else.

You make decisions in the first Act that that have an imense inpact on the rest of the game.
The second act will have different quests and locations depending on your actions in act 1.

Yes, you pretty much have to replay it at least once in order to say you've finished the game. Most quests have branching outcomes that are truly branching, and in act 1 you choose between two basic paths that will mean you go to different locations, do different quests etc. in act 2. Then in act 3 it converges a bit again, but every choice you make still will have an effect on the end outcome. It's really well done as a cinematic game.Naughty Bear wrote...

What about customisation?
Huge hub worlds to explore and talk to people?
Interesting codex like feature?

1. yes, but these focus on altering outcomes in the plot.
2. no..well each peice of armor or weapon you equip does look different, but you don't customize Geralt.
3. not huge, but sizable sandbox areas for each chapter. Exploration isn't the focus. And yes, you can talk to people and find random NPC's where it will break to a dialog cutscene for you to interact.
4. quite a bit to read in the Journal, and if you don't you'll have a hard time keeping up with the story or finishing side quests.
Biggest difference from Bioware games is that TW2 focuses heavily on a plot that can change by your decisions, but in some ways it feels less personal because Geralt isn't fully yours. You don't shape him like you do Shepard in Mass Effect.

You cant cunstomize your character face, and while i normaly like to make my own face it didn't bother me at all in this case. Of course you can customize your aperance through different armors and trophies.
There are cities and the sourounding areas you can freeroam.
There is a codex where you can read about improtant charakters and locations and so on.

Interesting. So Geralt is his own character? Do you choose between nice or dickish? Or is it changing like Human Revolution? (Occasional choice of sarcasm, cynical or cold).
