Except not at all. Like it or not...this is a multiplayer co-op mode which means that if you're not considering how you're character loadout is going to contribute to the overall success of the team then YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG. I understand that this doesn't give people the right to selfishly demand/dictate what you play as BUT, again if you're of the mindset that "I'm bringing whatever class/weapon I want because I can" then you're acting just as selfish. Again, I'm not excusing elitist "play this way or else" reactions from people, merely pointing out that YOU can be guilty of the inverse of that same mentality

Having a solid grasp of weapon weight, class strengths, and gameplay mechanics is vital on successfully completing silver/gold. So if you're an Asari Adept with a Widow and a Claymore then you're contribution to the team is going to be minimal and force the team to compensate a role that YOU'RE supposed to fill.

In closing though, don't preemptively kick people from Bronze. That's just lame.

Maybe it's just me but i don't care if my whole team play as a human vanguard and equips themselves with only an M-97 Viper, if that's how they feel they want to play then im not going to judge them.

I'm yet to come across a person who DELIBRATELY makes a meal of their weapons choices for the sole purpose of screwing up the mission.

What on earth does that achieve?

There's people out there who bought the game, Leisure gamers, might not play a lot but just want to come on and relax, then someone like you starts screaming down the mic "you suck man" "your rubbish". Who are you trying to impress seriously?

I'm going to be completely honest, if you come in with a Battlefield 3 character and a low N7 rank; you earn a kick from me.

Those are usually the guys that don't realize that this isn't anything like Battlefield and run out into the middle of the enemies trying to mow them down with their Avenger. Then they quit when they get downed after a few times.

It's happened very often to me, getting those poor guys. :/

Then you're basically saying that you don't really care about completing the mission. That's fine but you have to understand that the vast majority of people that play this regularly are going for 1. Experience points 2. Earned cash. All the funzies random build loadouts is what Bronze is for so it's fine there. Silver/Gold though it has no business being there if you're playing with random teammates.

Doing silver run.
Low levels come in. N7 was low both in single digits no mics. We wanted communication. We at least asked do you have a higher level character? Or a mic. No answer just sat there not ready 2 minutes later we kick him.

i'm like you. Only i will kick anyone. Earlier today this dumb ass vanguard " lol @ vanguards " tried to charge a banshe with its barriers up twice. 2 other guys bleeding out right next to him. Het gets grabbed .  im like " You stupid ****ing van guard fuk up. " he cuts on his mic  ( after 6 rounds of it not being on ) nd says " chill out its just a game. I play for fun " so i said " Want to play a game for fun? You're computer has Solitaire and minesweeper on it go play that. Obviously vanguards are 2 hrd 4 u 2 play and you can't think charging a banshee with its barriers up twice while we're bleeding out isnt a good idea."

Don't get me wrong i would love to complete the mission, i need the credits more than most believe me but what im saying is the most important factor for me is that every person on my team comes out of the game and says to themself "yeh i enjoyed that"  "i'll play again" etc. I set up games for the purpose that people not feel threatened and are able to be themselves which more often than not seems to increase competancy anyway.

I will concede however that playing on Silver and Gold can be incredibly difficuilt and i would advise any newcombers or people who feel they need practice that thereis nothing wrong with playing bronze games.

What there is no need for is any form of mocking/baiting/calling out or threatening behaviour from people who feel they are far better than said person, it's just not acceptable.

I'm still trying to figure this one out. Went into a Silver game, host had it on Geth. So I switch to my level 17 Quarian Infiltrator, N7 level is in the low 80s and I also have a mic. Two people vote to kick, so I'm like fine... I switch to my level 20 Human Adept, and then somehow it's ok? Really?

I only kick people if they are:

- taking to long to ready up
- a fairly close N7/character level ratio ONLY on Silver/Gold. For bronze, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to carry him around.
- spoiling story mode for me

Oddly enough, I've been kicked out multiple times on Silver lobbies for no reason. I don't understand, my N7 rating is 100+ and the characters I use are at least level 15. Most of the time, I already see the kick vote the instant I join. I asked one guy why they kicked me out, they gave me the stupid "What is the size of Italy?" gibber.

I've only ever been kicked for playing as a vanguard (Some kind of prejudice right there) or because I was a low level. Also I've been given strikes because my mic had terrible feedback sounds or something. Leads me to believe its broken. Honestly though I usually mute people with crappy mics or who blast music rather than kick them.

Then again I'm only in the habit of kicking people if they don't help or are disrespectful to me or other players.

I got a votekick on my level 4 engineer by a level 16 vanguard, on bronze (I'm N190+). No one else votekicked me and then he left the lobby and the kick disappeared. To this day I can't figure out what he was thinking.

Good to see that the "winners" here are the minority and that most other people who've been posting are reasonable. I've only been voted out once, presumably because I don't have a mic set up, but in Bronze level, there's no reason to be an elitist *****. I don't play Silver or Gold simply because I'm not interested in that level of competitiveness.

Then again, I buy games to have fun, so I guess I'd better get back to my Solitaire...or not. It just boils down to the fact that some people apparently feel the need to augment certain parts of their anatomy by pretending to be hardcore.

I hate people complain about using unconventional weapons. Are we just totally ignoring that any class can use any weapon now?

Just because they can doesn't mean they should. If bioware added a bannana gun that did zero damage, people being free to use it wouldn't make them any less moronic in doing so.

It's easy enough to have decent level characters of each type so if someone wants to use a particular weapon then picking a class that has skills which complement it isn't difficult.

An adept with a widow and claymore may be able to hold their own, but would be better with a class that complements that playstyle like a soldier.

There are limits to what is optimal, sure. But you can still play an adept with a sniper rifle, or an engineer with one. You might have to wait 0.5 seconds longer to throw an Incenerate, but that's really not a big issue.

They gave us this ability to add depth to our class and make interesting choices, and it's ridiculous that so many players are punishing others when they have no clue how optimal it'll end up being.

Never been votekicked on Bronze or Silver.
I got the boot for showing up to a Geth gold with a level 4 QI though(armed with a mantis X and N7 200+). I loled for a bit then waited for my housemates to come home and play private.

To be fair, most people would kick a level 4 character from silver.  I probably would.

They were right to kick you. Your weapon level means nothing if you're too squishy to use it. Play your private game if you want to use a lvl 4 character on Gold.

I'm not going to list stats but I'm very very good at the MP and I dont try to join Silver games with a character <10 or Gold with a character <16. It's not because I'm not good enough to, its just common courtesy when you're playing with people who don't know you. There is no way for them to tell if you are actually good. You can reach an N7 rank of 200+ playing only bronze so that point is moot.

How exactly is exercising your vote in the lobby elitist? Sounds like a bunch of mad low levels trying to pull some 99% BS.
