So it's been a few days and I've been playin some moa just cause I have not gotten any new video games since I moved to the states(I miss Oblivion...)
I've noticed alot of people complain about the straight forward and to the point idea, except for an occasional "BUT!" (classic example: Guardian of Andraste before The Gauntlet). I have to agree with it <.< The game is relatively short for the amount of content presented....And the puzzles in it? *Yawn* twas so easy I nearly snapped my jaw when trying to yawn and chuckle at the same time...
Also...has anyone else noticed the poor job they did with the scenery?....Everything looks alike...in total there're....4 new places to explore after Ostagar....Deep Roads...Brecilian Forest....Frostback Mountains....and Denerim...that's pretty much it. Everything else looks the same....the back alleys in Denerim are all the same...the random fight scenes are all the same....except for a few minor twists....a bush here...a fallen tree there...It reminds me of those sucky old car driving games where the new unlockable tracks were the old tracks driven in the opposite direction........need I say more?
I might not have to but I will. People always say that this game is NOTHING like World of Warcraft...in some cases that's most DEFFINATELY true...much more story going on, and good job on that...but really...If you say DAO looks nothing like WoW you've never played WoW...
Hotbar: almost completely identical to WoW hotbar...
Minimap: Completely identical
Party portrait list: Completely identical
Inventory style: Completely identical
Fighting style: Completely identical(I even have a spell name ripoff...in WoW a mage can learn Cone of Cold if specced into frost....hmmm...sounds awfully familiar to that frost spell in the primal category.......
Technically I'd say Bioware has taken a few pointers from the WoW UI layout....just saying...seems awfully familiar...
And then we have the Origins...fantastic job...wont put exclamations behind that cause the shere awesomeness of them require so many I'd get banned for spamming(Whats new)...they're different...they're fun...they're well written...and they're not instantly over...and the coolest part is that you can travel back there once you're all powered up and geared out to get back at whoever pissed in your neck.
Now why can't the rest of the game have been this good?...I get the feeling like Bioware was all excited and had awesome ideas and really did a great job...but once the whole Dragon Age: ORIGINS part was over with...things just kinda fell apart...as said before lousy work on the repeating scenery...and the travel map is just a damn joke...you can't even take a stroll down Denerims main street and maybe enter shops on the way...tell me...with the market district being in the most northern part..and the royal area in the west/southwest area...then EVERYTHING from those borders to the docks are slums and backalley roads?....damn....and I who thought the Alienage was ill taken care of...
The geological factors have also been ignored...for example...the castle of Redcliffe is directly south of the circle tower...but if you point north in the actual game, and the go to the full world map....you're actually pointing the wrong way....it's obvious that Bioware do not like the exploration part...which...in a game like DAO...is quite important...
And please...for the love of me...Don't complain about this being based on personal opinions...of course it's based on personal opinions you morron...what post like this one is not?....
