A proper ellipses only has three dots and is used to denote the pause in a different fashion than a space ... plus, it just looks cooler.
Otherwise, the original poster's comparisons to WoW are wrong in all the ways the other readers discussed. What I find amusing is that the person is probably young enough that he only has WoW and its clones to compare DA with ... or rather, I should say, I find it almost sad - as it means that I am too damned old.

Almost getting nostalgic. I believe Ninjaphrog made one then too, correct me if I am wrong.
And the weird placing of the cities has been conceded, something about layout. Here we go: old.dragonagecentral.com/single/1254063120

Games existed before Wow.
Off-topic: spelling is important, I'm not a native English speaker but I try not to butcher that beautiful language if that can be avoided. Spell checkers exist for a reason.

Cool story bro.
No, not the "rest of humanity" just those of that know intelligence makes us better than illiterate peasants.
Hm... Too much truth? I know mundanes hate hearing it, but I'm incapable of speaking otherwise.
PS: The mini-map is what games completely looked like for the Apple II... ah... those were the days.
Ultima 1, 2 & 3
Castle Wolfenstien
Beyond Castle Wolfenstien
So many names we recognize started out in monochrome green/black screen and stick figures...

Just one thing : you're WRONG about DAO copied WoW UI
WoW was the first to copy many other mmorpgs (do you know Lineage ? Its older than WoW but you will see same UI ideas in WoW), so I am sorry for you if you dicovered mmorps with WoW...
About the story, i think i like more warcraft stories because they involve more fantasy more amgic beings than in DAO, that's a sad fact but warcraft or WW aren't rpg, and that's a shame

I resent that statement. Peasants are not necessarily illiterate, as a matter of fact some of my best friends are peasants!

Haaaaaay tis froggyyyy!
So it's been a few days and I've been playin some moa just cause I have not gotten any new video games since I moved to the states(I miss Oblivion...)
I've noticed alot of people complain about the straight forward and to the point idea, except for an occasional "BUT!" (classic example: Guardian of Andraste before The Gauntlet). I have to agree with it <.< The game is relatively short for the amount of content presented....And the puzzles in it? *Yawn* twas so easy I nearly snapped my jaw when trying to yawn and chuckle at the same time...
Also...has anyone else noticed the poor job they did with the scenery?....Everything looks alike...in total there're....4 new places to explore after Ostagar....Deep Roads...Brecilian Forest....Frostback Mountains....and Denerim...that's pretty much it. Everything else looks the same....the back alleys in Denerim are all the same...the random fight scenes are all the same....except for a few minor twists....a bush here...a fallen tree there...It reminds me of those sucky old car driving games where the new unlockable tracks were the old tracks driven in the opposite direction........need I say more?
I might not have to but I will. People always say that this game is NOTHING like World of Warcraft...in some cases that's most DEFFINATELY true...much more story going on, and good job on that...but really...If you say DAO looks nothing like WoW you've never played WoW...
Hotbar: almost completely identical to WoW hotbar...
Minimap: Completely identical
Party portrait list: Completely identical
Inventory style: Completely identical
Fighting style: Completely identical(I even have a spell name ripoff...in WoW a mage can learn Cone of Cold if specced into frost....hmmm...sounds awfully familiar to that frost spell in the primal category.......)Both spell have exactly the same effects except for the freezing solid part, although it's a possibility.
Technically I'd say Bioware has taken a few pointers from the WoW UI layout....just saying...seems awfully familiar...
And then we have the Origins...fantastic job...wont put exclamations behind that cause the shere awesomeness of them require so many I'd get banned for spamming(Whats new)...they're different...they're fun...they're well written...and they're not instantly over...and the coolest part is that you can travel back there once you're all powered up and geared out to get back at whoever pissed in your neck.
Now why can't the rest of the game have been this good?...I get the feeling like Bioware was all excited and had awesome ideas and really did a great job...but once the whole Dragon Age: ORIGINS part was over with...things just kinda fell apart...as said before lousy work on the repeating scenery...and the travel map is just a damn joke...you can't even take a stroll down Denerims main street and maybe enter shops on the way...tell me...with the market district being in the most northern part..and the royal area in the west/southwest area...then EVERYTHING from those borders to the docks are slums and backalley roads?....damn....and I who thought the Alienage was ill taken care of...
The geological factors have also been ignored...for example...the castle of Redcliffe is directly south of the circle tower...but if you point north in the actual game, and the go to the full world map....you're actually pointing the wrong way....it's obvious that Bioware do not like the exploration part...which...in a game like DAO...is quite important...
And please...for the love of me...Don't complain about this being based on personal opinions...of course it's based on personal opinions you morron...what post like this one is not?....
I'll prove you wrong in far more than 5%, stop thinking that just because the last "big" game you played was WoW that it created the whole RPG genre. Wow did NOTHING new that other games were not already doing. They simply made the MMO genre easier for the masses and combined a lot of good things from other games into one single game.
Hotbar - http://images.mmorpg...12005/5059.jpg Here's one from Shadowbane
Minimap - I can't even think of the last RPG I played that didn't have a Minimap, OH wait the Original no expansions Everquest didn't have one!
Party Portrait list - http://www.sorcerers...shots/bg_02.jpg (Take from Baldur's Gate Screenshots)
Inventory style - I honestly don't see this one, unless you mean Items listed within a big box of what you presently have, and if you do mean that I don't know if I can find any screenshots from MUDS that have that anymore.
Fighting Style - Baldur's Gate 2 Throne of Baal Fight, only difference between that style and this game is fixed camera angle and graphics.
Cone of Cold.....hrm where have I seen this before....Oh I know I saw this back in Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition back in the early 90's (As point of note, they're on Version 4 now).
As for the areas between the royal section and the Market section being slums/Docks, welcome to a Medeival time period. There was ALWAYS a huge seperation between the classes back then, it's why most nobles were so hated. Don't believe me? Look up the Black Plague back in England, you'll find it hit a MUCH larger chunk of the commoner class than noble because of their living conditions.
For the non-open world, again this makes it obvious you've not played a ton of RPG's in the past, or any other Bioware games for that matter. They try to differ their games from their own games, Mass Effect's loadings while in the Citadel was the Elevators, it's using the map in this game. Creating triggers for events is VERY hard to do without some form of Loading. Warcraft found a workaround for this by using their Phasing tech that they have right now. On a single player game there is no reason to do that because that means much more User system resources being used as opposed to a server somewhere.
I'll end this by changing your own quote. If you say DAO looks a lot like WoW, you've never played any other RPG out there.
