So, let us weigh up the pro’s and con’s of these two giants, and see which one will rise the victor of the ultimate rpg!
Graphics;
Skyrim; there is no getting away from it, skyrim rules supreme in these stakes, Immense detail, lush backdrops, rolling landscapes. 10-10.
Dragon age; takes a more comic book approach to graphics, bright colours, good solid backgrounds, but just loses out 9-10
The world;
Skyrim; a huge open free roam landscape with countless locations. On the outset this seems amazing, but in my opinion, actually tends to become a problem for itself. It is too big, you can get lost for hours roaming around trying to find your destination. You can also stumble into areas, where you are just not powerful enough to tackle and tend to get your arse kicked into oblivion. 9-10
Dragon age; depends on story driven locations, no free roam here. You can only go where the story dictates; giving you a large and challenging route to travel, but balanced out perfectly to your level and skills. 10-10
Role play
Skyrim; you are the dragonborn, warrior, mage, thief. It doesn’t matter which role you choose, as eventually you will become a mish mash of all three to complete the game. I find that I cannot make the same in depth attachment to my P.C. as I can in D.A. he is just a vehicle to drive over everything that is put in front of me. Levelling up and gathering new abilities as I go. just a big number crunching beast. Npc, are just bodies to be thrown in front of swords, monsters and spells to stop you getting killed. No connection to them is made, they are fifty a dozen hireling sword fodder. 6-10
Dragon age; A more intense relationship develops between P.C. and NPC characters in this game. I find myself becoming emotionally attached to the main cast. Finally seeing them as friends, people I care about, talking to them and finding out about their origin stories and helping them accomplish personal quests. In this area, D.A reigns supreme. 10-10
Combat system;
Skyrim; initially, this game seems really complex to get into, due to the fact that there seems to be endless options of combat, magic, stealth, shouts, spells, scrolls, tomes, weapons, etc etc. To choose from, but after a while it all slots into place. Even with so many options, I still find myself using the basic steps. Bow, shout, melee.
Any hirelings do their thing with little instruction from you, and nine times out of ten end up getting killed, but who cares? Plenty more where they came from. 8-10
Dragon age; from the onset, you get a chance to shape, not just your P.Cs fighting style, but that of your party members, gaining tactic slots, which you can use to give them pre-set instructions for any combat situation. A more tactical approach is required in this game giving more depth to combat. 10-10
Dragons;
Skyrim; as common as a sparrow, and just as easy to kill, no challenge from these flying beasts. 3-10
Dragon age; Big bad asses, try taking on the archdemon or a high dragon on your lonesome, you will last seconds. These beasts deserve your respect and need your full party to take them down. 10-10
Over all;
Skyrim; is an amazing game, with its random quest generator system (basically you can’t run out of side quests) but is full of glitches, spell books to increase levels, can be used infinitely to boost all of your skills. Gold is in endless supply. Flying mammoths, horses. Etc. I fell through a solid floor in one dungeon to next level below. A bandit attacked me from a level below, his sword coming through the stone floor. 9-10
Dragon age; virtually glitch free, no way to cheat here. Choose, either warrior, mage or thief, the game then plays out fitting to your character choice, giving the game a slightly different playthrough to chosen class . Also, some excellent dlc to purchase. 10-10
Over all score;
Skyrim; 44
Dragon age; 59
And the winner is
Dragon age!!!!!!!
So, do you agree or disagree with my finding, let the debate begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dragon age V skyrim

That's like trying to compare vanilla and chocolate :
One game is about story and involvement, the other is about freedom and exploration.
They don't bring the same satisfaction and cannot be compared.
When I play Skyrim, I miss my Dragon Age companions, and when I play Dragon Age, I miss the Elder Scrolls freedom.
That's why I love both games equally.
BTW, shouldn't this be in the Off-topic section of the forum?

Not in here. There is already a topic for this subject where this belongs, in the Off Topic forum.

It's the right forum but it's a versus thread which is frowned upon and will probably be locked. I personally like versus threads, usually.

We don't really do versus threads around here
