This should really be stickied or something O_o These polls show what the consumers want most and to what degrees and even some specifics on implementation. If they ever do decide to fix the endings this would be quite useful (as well as the long thread of specific comments and suggestions :P But this is easier to sift through).

Woah, thanks for taking the time out to collate all these polls! Surely these will help the devs consider what things to do (if they decide to remake the ending.. which I hope they will).

Great thread. Should be stickied definitely.

Endings should vary from a bad ending where Reapers win, to a Mega Happy Ending. Also, Mega Happy Ending should be far more difficult to achieve(IDK, maybe something about 6500-6800 EMS).

It should still be achievable without MP =/ Otherwise they would break their promise - and those without internet couldn't get it D:

Hear, hear, as it is one part of one the ending is unachievable without MP... <_<

...or without editing Coalesced.bin... :?

2 Options not there are:
Origin: Keep/Bin/Hang the moron/s that still think treating customers worse than thievies is a good idea
DLC registration: Once (at purchase)/Everytime I run the SP game/All of the time & kick you out of the SP game if the server dies

For most of the questions, all of the above bar the Status Quo, & use someone in the boardroom as a gavel to bang the idea that Deus Ex Machina may have been acceptable to the Greeks 2.5 millenia ago but isnt what gamers expect or want today!

The poll results show that people are determined to ruin the game's ending, i hope bioware does not consider the results. Please go read kindergarten fairy tales if you want all happy ending.

A bitter sacrifice is a must, for the conclusion of this epic campaign. It makes Shepard's tale more enigmatic and gives it character of an unsurmountable challenge, which it was...... ending it all without a hefty cost does not makes sense.

Thanks for those polls...

I just want this to be fixed... And I honestly don't want to tell Bioware HOW to do it as I feel that fanbase should not have too much influence regarding DETAILS.
From all the current endings I like the synergy ending most as it gives me at least the feeling to have changed something and I somehow preserved synthetic and organics - still it does not feel like victory. Do not like the plotholes also and I don't like that Shephard has to sacrifice himself/herself. I do not like that EDI and Joker + Geth and Quarrians did not matter to that decisions. I know that seems kind of "hip" today in fantasy/science fiction - but that doesn't mean that I have to like it.
All endings made me feel somewhat empty. It was some kind of anti-climax in the last minute. I enjoyed every second of the ride until then - that made it even worse... If it would have been a mediocre experience I would not have been so dissapointed...
However this ending made one thing clear - DLC will have to be "prequels" or will have to happen in another cycle. And these cycle we will KNOW the outcome. If DLC has to happen after that ending I'm wondering how those 3 choices could be reflected for all of us...

Glad you liked the ending, really.

For us that didn't, we do not ask for the original ending to be removed, merely optionally changed.  If the added endings would range from "Happy Ever After" to "Utter Failure", what is the harm?  It was supposed to be our Shepard's story.

I too was a tad dismayed that the 'mega happy ending' got a majority of votes but that does not mean people want to ruin the ending. I believe the option for 'everything' and varied endings was second and reasonably close.

IMO they should have a variety of endings from everyone loses to mega-happy and everything in between. It seems more in keeping with ME, that our choices will have different consequences that lead to different ends.

A mega happy ending negates the inevitability of reaper threat. Reaper threat and force was so great that shepard may be able to reduce the impact of damage but got crushed in the process, that was the whole point of this whole campaign, that the galaxy could not comprehend the magnitude of Reaper threat and by the time they did, it was already too late and the resulting damage was not completely avoidable.

The whole series was sold on the point that it was to be our story, yet that did not happen, and a lot of players felt they got no real choice in the end, or closure. If some want their mega-happy ending, why not? It would not come easy, and it is not as if there has been no sacrifice along the way. However, it is in Shepard's nature to beat the odds, to find another way (as Anderson says towards the end), and when they took that away many reacted strongly. It was no longer their Shepard, their story.

It does seem logical for Shepard to die in the vast majority of the endings, but ME has been about choice and shaping your own destiny. To that end, there should be an ending that is happy - with some bittersweet tinges, but those can be reflected in the losses you already sustained on the way there.

It should be very difficult to achieve, but it should be there. If our Shepard did everything perfectly correct, then why not have a happy ending?

Though, I would personally try for something much more bittersweet. I find entirely happy endings disingenuous - but I think the option should be there.

Voted through.
I don't WANT a happy rainbow ending, tho' I have nothing against it.
I even fine with the Starchild/3choices up until the mass relays destroyed. With the relay network up and running, I can imagine any rebuild and 'live happily ever after' scene, and that's fine with me. But by destroying the network, the galaxy will turn to ruins and the 'mass effect universe' as it is will cease to exists (not to mention that it's very hard to imagine any positive future to any of my crew members).

So for me only the Relay Network destruction need to be retconned (and that solves the "Joker problem" too). All else is fine.

Done. Generally, my response is that the ending should reflect the player's actions throughout the game. If he did well, give him a better ending. Otherwise, not so good ending. Do not just throw them out of the window (or airlock).

This!
Shepard may die in the ending but what s/he choose during the games must dictate the ending.

Good job with this, voted. Having a mega happy ending available doesn't exclude the posibility of a sacrifice.
That's what EMS is for. Have low EMS, get crushed on all fronts. Have not enough EMS, and he may have to sacrifice himself (and maybe even Earth) to rid the galaxy of the reapers. Have a staggering amount of EMS, happy ending. Simple.

I'm having a hard time not berating and insulting you to kingdom come, but I'm going to try. How is there not already a "hefty cost?" All of the main worlds of every race have been decimated by the Reapers and billions of people have been killed or turned into the Reapers' creatures. One man getting out with his life doesn't devalue the tremendous costs that the universe has had.

I don't know if you lack total reading comprehension, but people want the happy ending as a choice, not the only conclusion. If you want Shepard to be a martyr and sacrifice for the greater good, then by all means. That's your choice, and it should be one. So should total and complete failure. Me? I want to have the ability to destroy the Reapers and get out with my life.
