Repeat after me:

5th column.

That's all he's doing by this FTC stunt.

He's not one of us, that's for sure. We've made this very very clear in every forum, in every thread, in every website about this, but this is the 2nd article now in the "mainstream gaming press" regarding this idiot. The only conclusion is that its purely a stunt by EA and its paid gaming press proxies to make the Retake ME3 folks look bad.

The only reason this spin by gaming news outlets is working is because people don't know what the FTC is. We just have to do our best to counter the misinformation.

This is exactly the sort thing we need people to NOT DO. This just makes us look like whiny brats, and gives Bioware ammo to convert people away from the movement.

Hold The Line.

The problem here is that Bioware didn't really cheat us out of anything - YES, what they decided to do in the end really falls short of what they promised, but you can see that the effort was there. It was pathetic effort, yes, and poorly executed, but there is an ending nonetheless, and you did get to choose your own ending (sort of, not really), and they also (sort of, not really) took your past decisions into account.

So basically, by filing the FTC complaint, you're gaining very little, while losing a lot in terms of turning neutral players away and generating negative media spin that can strengthen Bioware's position.

Not a good idea at the end of the day.

Ugh. And with this one action, this jackass has probably made the entire Retake Mass Effect movement the laughing stock of the internet. There nothing illegal about a bad ending. NOTHING. Sure, it stupid and bad choices on Bioware's part to promise a varied ending and then not deliver, but to call that illegal is like going to the FTC because that Big Mac you got at McDonalds doesn't look like the one in the commercials.

Just be glad it wasn't some class action lawsuit. Then we'd all look stupid.

I think this step is clearly overdrawn. We want a conciliation with Bioware, not a war.

Shouldn't the fan base turn the focus back on these Journalists? It's been obvious from day one, they have been trying to undermine us and make us look bad. They cover what they want to cover. Use their power to try to minimalize our complaints.

honestly it seems legit ;
"that means the endings can be a lot more different. at this point we're taking into account so many decisions that you've made as a player and reflecting a lot of that stuff. it's not even in any way like the traditional game endings, where you can say how many endings there are or whether you got ending A, B, or C." - casey hudson, jan 11, 2012
you cant say thats not a big lie about what we finally got...

Too far? I dunno.

The money I spent on ME 1,2, and 3 all felt utterly for naught, right after ME3's ending.

He's actually right. The commercials advertised content that was clearly not in the game. It's his right to complain officially. I don't see why everybody says this is taking it too far, EA has likely sold a ton more of copies because of false promises. A lot of customers are unhappy about this and now they are told to "let it slide"? Why? What do we owe EA? This only damages your own interests in the long run and promotes dishonest capitalistic behaviour.

Even though the complaint seems far-fetched, this does draw attention to the issue. I say great job!

All he has to do is show developer quotes from before Mass effect 3. There's a whole thread somewhere here with them. The amount of lies that bioware has told is staggering.

I love articles from outside sources that gets linked to this forum that's based on actions taken by people in this forum.

It seems every article that gets linked here is the exact same, which confuses me that people will even look for outside information when everything relevant is taking place right here.

Its just the FTC, its not like he is filing a lawsuit, I would not bother myself, but its not a big deal.  People file complaints all the time, people probably filed complaints against ME2 and DA2, this is only getting attention because the ending has become so news worthy in general.

Eh. I'd like to see companies accountable for what they say they are making versus what they actually make. If I order a cheeseburger and I get a football I'd be annoyed. There's no accountability for what was said would be in the game and what ends up in the game.

I don't think taking this to the FTC is the way to go, mostly because I don't see it actually going anywhere, and that it will only put the wrong image out there of those of us that want a better ending. But, Bioware shouldn't be allowed to say X will be in the game, remove it or fail to include it, and then sell it on the promise that X is still in.

Unconventional. But he has the right to do it. I wouldn't personally.

Basically my opinion. I think he takes it a bit too far, but it's his right.. And as long as he's polite about it... *shrugs*
