I hate to say I told you so...

As there was a growing "we are gay and we want gay shepard!!" campaign since ME1, i consistently said the exact same thing.

Which was while I have nothing against gay people, shoehorning in gay relationships to a series that is already established, is just going to take time and energy away from characters we love.

So what do we get?  Playing chess with some girl who just got shoehorned into the game.  How many more of you (gay people included) would prefer to see Shepard playing Quarian chess with Tali?  Wait, is that 99% of the playerbase with their hands up?

Same, drinks with "Steve".  How many more of you would prefer to see Shepard propping up the bar with Garrus?  Is that even more of you?

This was a waste of time, put in to appease a small minority of whining fans.  As such we got LESS Ashley.  We got LESS jacob.  We got LESS miranda.

Sorry, but it's true.  "Steve" probably got more screen time than almost anybody, to appease the people with their "gays in space" banners, and thats a shame.  I think the Jacob and Thane fans would have rather the programming time spent on them.

Dare I say imagine if the resources for those 6-7 scenes with Steve were all put into improving the ending..  i think we'd have far less people complaining about no gay, than we do at the moment.

Is having less Jacob a valid complaint?

I actually admire the people who pushed for same sex romance. They stated their case in a civil manner and BioWare rewarded them for that.

Why? It's all true.

Play chess with random lesbian girl or play chess with Tali?
Drink with Steve or Drink with Garrus?

I think theres 99/100 people that would prefer the second options to what was put in the game. It was a waste of time and resources to appease whiny fans.

Come on, I am sure making a gay Shepard, didn't cause all the follies we have seen. Multiplayer maybe. But this Photoshopping stuff? Just drop this, people are okay with people from different walks of life wanting what they would like to see, I am happy they got it. Leave this be...

Introducing new characters is "shoe-horning"? Just because the universe was already established doesn't mean they can't add any new people into it. What a ridiculous complaint.

I do have to agree both the new gay characters seemed incredibly one-dimensional and seemed to exist solely to have someone to romance of that orientation.

I can't remember a single thing Cortez said that wasn't about losing his husband, and Traynor was even less memorable.

I think they over compensated with same sex relationships.

What I really don't get though is how they didn't want them in ME2 but they wrote in kelly anyway, to send either sex shep those really i want you in bed type messages at the end of the game.

And then in 3 if your a male shep she'll sleep with you, but not if your femshep all of a sudden, it just feels like they didn't bother puting the time in the game overall they did the other 2.

i have to admit while i dont mind gay people or what they feel or believe, i did feel mighty uncomfortable with "gay relationships/reactions" in the game, might be just the way i was raised lol.

but yeah they should have an option to have it or not because like me it makes some people feel uncomfortable. like before you start the campaign "do you want this enable or not" ... everyones happy then :) again no offence ... lol

I thought that Tali and Garrus got the right amount of development.

I have no interest in playing a gay romance as I'm heterosexual myself, but I strongly admire Bioware for taking a stand and include same sex romance in their games.

Nevermind, Misunderstood.

I don't see the harm in adding some new characters, this same debate went on prior to ME2 when you found out that Wrex, if he survived, wouldn't be a team mate but ratehr a different Krogan.
Many were sad about that but look at them now, Grunt is well liked by most of us.

Sure I could have.  But then I'd miss out on a lot, because he got a lot of scenes.

I have nothing against him, but is there anyone, and I'm including gay people in on this, who wanted this time spent on Steve if they had an option of it being spent on another character already in the series?

I didn't romance Steve yet I enjoyed his storyline. He enriched my experience of the game.
Chobot on the other hand... :? There's a questionable investment of development resources.

My femshep liked "surprising" Traynor in the shower.

And Steve was actually really cool.  I felt for him.  Least he wasn't another meathead like Vega.

And, being as I like to play female characters that have relations with other female characters, I approve of how this programming time was spent.

How was Traynor any more "one-dimensional" than Kelly Chamber or hell even Jacob?
