Gay Relationships - Waste of programming time.

If you want a "waste of programming time" and resources taken out, then pick on multiplayer. Even I'm surprised at how much fun it is, but I'd still take it out in a heartbeat if it meant getting us an acceptable ending and making our decisions matter, especially at the end: and no I wouldn't put it into even more squad interaction, I actually thought they did a great job with it as it is, stock photos aside.

For the record, I really appreciated Cortez as a character and the inclusion of more s/s romance options.

If people are against romances in BioWare as a whole, they might have a valid argument. I myself think they greatly add to the games, but I can see why someone who doesn't like them feels they're a waste of resources.
To single out gay romances, however, screams of bigotry. If a game allows you to role play a character that can romance other characters, there should be male and female options for everyone. Being inclusive is never a waste of resources. It's simply doing the right thing. Gay and bisexual people are already marginalized in the vast majority of media and everyday society. They don't need people like the OP whining about how one of the few games that's actually inclusive is wasting programming time.
Now if only BioWare would start including non-trivialized well written transgender characters. That would be awesome.
THIS THIS THIS THIS x1000
I'm really tired of the use of TG characters on both Dragon Age as a minor joke with no respect for them, at least they are barely footnotes.
And I tihnk BioWare could make very interesting TG characters if they only treated them with respect.

I am glad that Mass Effect 3 doesn't only focus on already resolved issues of the 20th century - such as racism and sexism, but also takes a stand on current human rights battles. It is very refreshing and fits well in the ME Universe.
As a gay gamer myself, my gaming experience has improved immeasurably now that I was able to finally romance my crush from ME1, Kaidan. It was definitely the best part of the game in terms of plot. The combat was awesome as well of course.

And I love how you always fabricate meaningless propaganda terms in weak attempts at psychological manipulation. This installment went far beyond anything prudent, and as the OP rightly asserts, even suffered for it content-wise.
Yes, because homosexuality and pedophilia are the same thing.
Which is funny because the DSM doesn't say anything about homosexuality in there.
Curious.

Dare I say imagine if the resources for those 6-7 scenes with Steve were all put into improving the ending.. i think we'd have far less people complaining about no gay, than we do at the moment.
Oh look, a bigot.
What is funny, is that this person has no idea that by claiming that having gay characters in the game it caused the bad ending... they are helping Bioware/Ea just ignore the entire ending problem. From a PR perspective, ignoring bigots is just about the easiest thing in the world.
Please stop trying to help.

I thought Cortez and Traynor were good, well-developed characters - not as much as a squadmate, say, but definitely good NPCs. And neither of them ran around wearing rainbows, neither of them constantly ranted about how much they wanted to sleep with you, although they did reveal their orientations in a straightforward manner (I found Traynor's talking about how much she loved EDI's voice amusing). They were just soldiers who happened to be homosexual, and it was completely possible to be friends with them and support them without jumping into bed with them. Or to ignore them, if that's what you'd prefer to do.
EDIT: Oh, and regarding development time - from what has been said in the Final Hours thing, as well as Casey's interview, it's plain this is the ending they wanted. They didn't run out of time. So that argument doesn't seem to hold water.
To that effect, I also liked how Steve talked about his husband without any amount of embarassment, hesitation, etc. That is to say, he approached it in a fashion that suggested that it was normal at that time.

the fact that the sexuality of traynor/steve is an issue depresses me
I agree, Bioware did a fantastic job of creating a realistic (for a sci fi game) set of characters. I do feel that it was pushed slightly too hard to show their sexuality, but even so, I have no issues with and I believe it was done well.

For someone who isn't a homophobe, you sure sound like a homophobe.

It's a non-issue in the military. There's the woman who says that her family disowned her when she married an asari, which I'm going to guess was meant to hint that some people still find it unacceptable.MPSai wrote...

What's the next game going to incorporate to be edgy? Bestiality? The whole asexual Asari thing should have sufficed.
You really think acknowledging gay people exist is "edgy"?
Asari aren't asexual. They are female. With bewbs and uteri.
MPS: I believe they exist... somewhere.... out there.
lol...well they do reproduce sexually...and their gender does seem female, regardless I maintain that romancing as a whole is a waste of disc space and resources.

Or that since humans have only been part of the galactic community for 30 years there are people who are against interspecies marriage.
