Can't agree here. I like the Multiplayer.
But the second statement is definitely true. Gays have to endure enough hate in RL thanks to people like the OP.
I'm glad Bioware thought of them in ME3.

This is actually a myth. Kaidan and Ashley were not written to be bi in ME1; it's just that Meer and Hale were given the exactl same script to read off of. There's a YouTube video somewhere of ManShep referring to himself as a woman, in fact.Xenbus wrote...

I prefer minor but well developed characters to retconning existing characters. (Kaiden anyone?)
I actually always assumed him and Ash were Bi. They had these lines of dialogue in ME1 that felt like they were flirting, regardless of your gender. But, then for some reason Ash isn't Bi in ME3, but Kaiden is. Which is like "Double standard much?"
They were written as both being BI in 1 iirc.
There is a switch you could change in the editor that unlocked unique dialogue for romance scenes in sheps cabin for both of them regardless of sex.
They simply turned it off in the first game.

There's also dialogue of MaleShep explicitly stating he's a woman, so I'm not sure about the original intentions. More like they were line-reads from the actors to help with the process of getting dialogue.
In either case, Kaidan became Bi while Ash remained hetero. 50/50.

I liked the chess and drinks, but I wanted still more conversation with others. Even though there is a nice amount of it.

Having "relationships" in a game is pretty sad by mainstream standards you know, and by that argument it's a waste of time and programming. Some people I know are really turned off by that kind of in-game bond with FICTIONAL characters and just play the rest of the game for the "adventure" aspects.
presumably gay/bi gamers don't get annoyed with the proliferation of hetero relationships, don't see why you have to get annoyed at non-hetero ones.

I'd just like to say, though, that IMO is was MUCH BETTER for them to add new characters rather than suddenly change the orientation of already established characters.
Well they changed Kaidan's orientation didn't they?
Honestly they just shouldn't have bothered at all. Much like multiplayer. These are things targetted to attract more players, not things that enhance the game for the majority. By all means it should have been included at the start of a new series or in a spin off, but there was no need to introduce this.
And if you don't think all those scenes with Steve take away from scenes they could have added to improve the game for the majority, you are silly.
Dare I say imagine if the resources for those 6-7 scenes with Steve were all put into improving the ending.. i think we'd have far less people complaining about no gay, than we do at the moment.

What I'm not ok with is that if you're talking and being friendly to your crew, suddenly they can act all romancey towards you (Steve caught my by surprise), and they only way out at that point are some dickish remarks.
I had the same issue with DA2. Suddenly, Anders is on my tail and there was no "No thanks, Anders, I'm not gay." The only option was kinda like "F off dude."

I also like MP. Also, I endure very very little hate IRL. Cause the majority of my country isn't stuck in the nineteenth century.

That said, the only thing that bugged me was no romancing options with Vega. The way he openly flirts you'd expect there to be, but nope. (And I know I'm a minority here but I enjoyed Vega as a character. Damned stereotypical one yes, but an amusing one.)

I'm all for Lesbian & Gay relationships in games, but i thought it was a little late to add something to the series, they should have had that in ME1 and continued throughout the series instead of adding it in the final installment.

Gay people deserve relationships in games just like us straights. Give it a rest.
And stop hating gay people and then claiming you don't.

I played the **** out of UT2004s Invasion with all kinds of different mods. I guess that counts as a good horde mode.

Also: How does sexual orientation come into it with alien species? I mean this in regards to the fact that it's already what would be deemed an unusual situation, so why not have it so Tali and Garrus can be romanced by either gender? Do they even see male and female humans as that different - especially when it comes to one they admire as much as Shep. I know Allers makes some comment about Turians writing the strangest fanmail, but without any examples one can only assume.
If Bioware were really after courting controversy, just think of what they could have added: A transgender stereotype. As in a character you romance only telling you after you've been intimate. This is a cliche in a fair few TV 'dramas' as is, and is certainly incendiary. Personally, I'd have quite liked to see a TG at some point, just to see how they're percieved in the future (one would hope everyone is a little more openminded than currently at least).
