Had they nixed the characters entirely and replaced them with ME2 characters there would have to be additional work anyway due most of the ME2 crew being killable and thus they would have needed replacements for those players that got them killed.
Blaming other players because you don't like hearing about same-sex relationships relationships is...
Well, it's just what is sounds like

Take all these cutscenes away, make new cutscenes in their place and tack them onto the ending.
What would you prefer? Steve took away development time from more important places, end of story.

Personally I think Bioware is focusing too much on romances in general, but might just be because I don't really think having romances in a setting where everything is on the line is a really good idea.
I think they handeld Steve well enough i.e. making it natural instead of "forced".
People need to let off steam....and gunpowder therapy isn't always appropriate
Well you could do that without actually having an actual romance with someone.

I didn't romance Steve yet I enjoyed his storyline. He enriched my experience of the game.
Chobot on the other hand...There's a questionable investment of development resources.
The hate for chobot is no different than the hate for steve, it's all hate. The only difference is the label you put on it.
I don't hate her. I just feel very uncomfortable with the conflict of interests surrounding her inclusion.

Again, I'll say it again. Steve gets several cinematic cutscenes.

And a single cut scene probably takes about a hour of one man power. Just...FYI.

I liked both Traynor and Steve. I didn't romance either one of them but I liked both characters. I don't think they took anything away from the game. I'd much rather have those two than Miranda or Jacob or *shudder* Kelly Chambers on the ship.
Guess I'm one of the few that liked Miranda.

The game shipping with a real ending, and all people who fancy it having the chance to download LI DLC? Everyone wins. So no, I don't think it was either/or.

I think the bigger issue is they wasted development time on that steroid pumped meathead Vega. That is far more insulting to me then adding in another layer of role playing for people. Why not just replace him with your LI or a squad member everyone liked? Like Grunt? If you really want the meathead perspective just take Grunt.
no wonder the world is at each others throats all the time.
Here is a guy who represents the common man , putting it on the line so we can live our little care free lives, and you have people calling him a meathead because he chooses to keep himself in good shape so he can live through his missions.
how do you know he took steroids? you suck sir.

As there was a growing "we are black and we want black shepard!!" campaign since ME1, i consistently said the exact same thing.
Which was while I have nothing against black people, shoehorning in black people to a series that is already established, is just going to take time and energy away from characters we love.
So what do we get? Playing chess with some girl who just got shoehorned into the game. How many more of you (black people included) would prefer to see Shepard playing Quarian chess with Tali? Wait, is that 99% of the playerbase with their hands up?
Same, drinks with "Steve". How many more of you would prefer to see Shepard propping up the bar with Garrus? Is that even more of you?
This was a waste of time, put in to appease a small minority of whining fans. As such we got LESS Ashley. We got LESS jacob. We got LESS miranda.
Sorry, but it's true. "Steve" probably got more screen time than almost anybody, to appease the people with their "blacks in space" banners, and thats a shame. I think the Jacob and Thane fans would have rather the programming time spent on them.
Dare I say imagine if the resources for those 6-7 scenes with Steve were all put into improving the ending.. i think we'd have far less people complaining about no blacks, than we do at the moment.
I hope by changing out 1 word you now realize how horrible what you said really is.

He obviously takes steroids because he doesn't sit on his bum playing video games all day while I do and only weigh 130 lbs...how could you ask that? <_<xtorma wrote...

Umm does that include rendering and animation??? You realise it takes several weeks to fully render, voice and animate a cut scene? And they are restricted by time constraints and memory constraints.
At the end of the day, these scenes were far too much for one character that most people were not going to engage with. If used on the ending instead, there would be far less complaining than there is now.

I'd just like to say, though, that IMO is was MUCH BETTER for them to add new characters rather than suddenly change the orientation of already established characters.
Well they changed Kaidan's orientation didn't they?
Honestly they just shouldn't have bothered at all. Much like multiplayer. These are things targetted to attract more players, not things that enhance the game for the majority. By all means it should have been included at the start of a new series or in a spin off, but there was no need to introduce this.
And if you don't think all those scenes with Steve take away from scenes they could have added to improve the game for the majority, you are silly.
