My favorite character is Z.
Characters A - Y are taking time away from him, what a waste.

I think the bigger issue is they wasted development time on that steroid pumped meathead Vega. That is far more insulting to me then adding in another layer of role playing for people. Why not just replace him with your LI or a squad member everyone liked? Like Grunt? If you really want the meathead perspective just take Grunt.
no wonder the world is at each others throats all the time.
Here is a guy who represents the common man , putting it on the line so we can live our little care free lives, and you have people calling him a meathead because he chooses to keep himself in good shape so he can live through his missions.
how do you know he took steroids? you suck sir.
Vega wasnt a bad character, but yeah kind of a waste.
I still think the point, though poorly put, is that the new characters (Vega, Cortez, Diana and Traynor) were not well done, and it would have been more fun for a large majority of people to have swapped them out with ME2 characters.
Not an entirely unreasonable position to hold, frankly.

Um...no. as much as I hate how Jacob and Thane got shafted, I do not blieve it was in favor of samantha, Kaidan's M/M path, or Cortez. You're way off base and it's laughable.Justin2k wrote...

As there was a growing "we are gay and we want gay shepard!!" campaign since ME1, i consistently said the exact same thing.
Which was while I have nothing against gay people, shoehorning in gay relationships to a series that is already established, is just going to take time and energy away from characters we love.
So what do we get? Playing chess with some girl who just got shoehorned into the game. How many more of you (gay people included) would prefer to see Shepard playing Quarian chess with Tali? Wait, is that 99% of the playerbase with their hands up?
Same, drinks with "Steve". How many more of you would prefer to see Shepard propping up the bar with Garrus? Is that even more of you?
This was a waste of time, put in to appease a small minority of whining fans. As such we got LESS Ashley. We got LESS jacob. We got LESS miranda.
Sorry, but it's true. "Steve" probably got more screen time than almost anybody, to appease the people with their "gays in space" banners, and thats a shame. I think the Jacob and Thane fans would have rather the programming time spent on them.
Dare I say imagine if the resources for those 6-7 scenes with Steve were all put into improving the ending.. i think we'd have far less people complaining about no gay, than we do at the moment.

It's a miracle the entire world population isn't extinct yet according to how it occurs in DA2.
ME3 was handled much like their other games, in which case it doesn't really affect you if you don't want to have it affect you. In fact, perhaps even less as you don't even have to interact with those characters as companions on missions if you don't wish to have them travel with you.
In that way it was much more tasteful and really was a non-item in relation to everything else.

Steve was a terribly written character. I did kind of feel sorry for him and his husband, but that flew out the window right at the point of his coming onto me in the bar. My first reaction was "Dude, wtf? I'm glad I helped you get over your loss, but you're trying to pick me up 5 minutes later?". It just seemed so wrong. I went on to ask my bf about it and he had the same reaction.
Retconning Kaidan didn't sit well with me either and his dialogue seemed forced. Maybe it's because I know what the voice actor looks like and...don't exactly find him attractive. In fact, well, quite the opposite. I did end up pursuing him as my LI, but mostly because I waited to finally have an ME LI all these years and really wanted that achievement
All in all however, kudos to BioWare for doing it. It did feel like a victory of sorts.

I've heard this argument before, and it's quite flawed. Why don't you ask a black minister what he thinks about his people's stuggle for civil rights being compared to the agenda of the homosexual mafia?ticklefist wrote...

I really wouldn't trust Bioware with writing a good TG character, given how western media tends to portray us. Seems sad but the only companies I'd trust to actually include a decent TG character in their games would be Japanese, Atlus in particular. Naoto in Persona 4 was pretty well written, aside from the whole aspect of what happens if you date her >.>, and Kanji, from the same game, has to be the best gay character in video games.Lonsecia wrote...
If Bioware were really after courting controversy, just think of what they could have added: A transgender stereotype. As in a character you romance only telling you after you've been intimate. This is a cliche in a fair few TV 'dramas' as is, and is certainly incendiary. Personally, I'd have quite liked to see a TG at some point, just to see how they're percieved in the future (one would hope everyone is a little more openminded than currently at least).
I dunno maybe I like the whole 'joke' they had with prostitutes at the pearl in DAO get to me too much, but yeah, would not trust Bioware to do it right.

I disagree.
I loved the Kaidan romance. I felt like the whole "I had a torch for you all this time but didnt have the courage to say cos ur a scary butch marine" thing made sense to me.
lol.

How would taking out characters like Cortez and Traynor change the ending in anyway? Bioware had the ending planned and taking out cutscenes from adding in these characters wouldn't changed would they already planned to be the ending.

Technically not TG, but just to reming you, all Asari are hermaphrodite. Think about that while you romance Liara.
Seriously, I'm fine with anything Bioware does as long as they do not go for the weirdness of DA2 by making everyone bisexual. Steeve was a good character, a credible, ordinary gay male.

Traynor's VA has an enchanting voice. I could listen to her talk about anything, all day. Steve is cool. I had a brief "Oh no, Steve!" moment when he crashed the shuttle in London. I was glad to see he lived (at least until the Charon Relay blew, or starvation set in). That said, I'd definitely have taken all that downtime with my squaddies, instead.
Ultimately, Bioware tried to give a portion of their fan base something for which they'd long asked. You can't fault them that. It didn't diminish my experience, so why would I be upset?

Steve gets more time on screen than nearly ALL the main characters, apart from maybe Liara. This is wrong. Have him there by all means. Have him a small romance like Kelly was. But all these cut scenes that most of us don't care about is just massive pandering to gays.
