Steam Ultimate edition version.
patch 1.04

System specs:
        Processor: Intel® Core i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz (8cpus)
        9206 RAM
        NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250
        Speakers (Sirus Headset)

        Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Premium
        Not using any mods.

I was in dragonbone wastes in Da: Awakening when the game suddenly froze,
although the computer was functioning, the game did not react. I tried
reloading to any save i had in the Dragonbone wastes but it would simply stay
at the loading screen. After a few attempts I noticed it always froze at the
exact same spot, right next to the dragon skull near the path. I searched the
forums but it seems no one else has had this issue. This is on my first playthough of the game. The freeze occurs at the same area, was not in combat, simply running.

Thanks for providing the basic info... it helps. First I would suggest using the Steam client to validate the installation... sounds like some file got corrupted. Since you're not using any mods, we can rule that out. Another option is to check your video driver-- or rather, do a clean uninstall/reinstall of the video driver in "safe" mode. There's a link in my sig, below, which may help.

I don't recall that particular mission, and I don't have DA:O on my hard drive currently. You may want to check the Dragon Age Wiki and see if there is a known bug there, but I don't recall one. Be warned that most of the wiki pages include walkthroughs, but you can use the menu to skip down to bugs, if they are listed.

EDIT:  There is a bug in that mission at the very end, where the final cutscene loops... but that doesn't sound like what you're experiencing.

I used the steam client to validate and repair the files, and now the game is working perfectly.
Thank you very much for the help.
