Figures this won't stay up very long but...

After a few failed Silver Reaper attempts, I threw my hands up in frustration and went back to level my new Soldier in Bronze. She was an outgrowth of my Turian Soldier whom I just promoted. CSSpam with weapons, was keen to try the Phaeton out.

Turns out to be a good match of weapons to class. Phaeton handles very nicely and on Dagger (where I spent a lot of time tonight on.. unintentionally) it had the range and accuracy to do the wetwork.

The highlight of the night was when a Krogan and myself were in the Array Control room, and a bunch of Cerberus Troopers managed to sneak in through the long passageway. The Krogan didn't even bothered to raise his gun; he just walked down the corridor headbutting every Trooper, while I mopped up behind him -- not that there was much to. Wished there was a video capture tool on the xBox, that was a sight to see.:lol:

Krogans.

Ahahahaha!

Finally, after a dozen of failed PUGs, I finally got into a group that got the act together and I finished the Goliath (Silver Reaper) Challenge! (I hope it registered. I don't really want to have to do it again.)

Infiltrator Lvl 20, Widow, Silver, Reaper. Three snipers (2 infiltrators and 1 other) plus a close in guy, can't remember Sentinel or Vanguard. It was a good team.

With the exception of the guy that kept going "Save your missiles!".... Understandable, but when you were chased out of the sniper's nest by superior firepower (and an unreasonable Banshee), and said Banshee is chasing you down on your lonesome with full Barriers... I don't care if it's only Wave 9, I'm yanking that Cobra out to take her out. You need my Widow more than you need my Cobra.

As it is I think we managed to clear Wave 10 with only one missile fired. Nasty crap, left me and a Marauder at the end... instead of going mano-a-mano with it, I went to revive the other infiltrator and we shared the kill. xD

Evac was a no brainer with 2 infiltrator. The snipers waited across the evac to enfilade fire on Brutes and a Banshee, think we dropped both (total for match is I think 7~9). Then at 30s, I cloaked and ran through a field of husks and Marauders to get into evac. A dying Brute pushed me out but I think I got back in on time, partial though, someone went MIA.

Good night, good night. Galactic back to 100% with this match, I got enough credits to get 2 Vet boxes, one which came with a Mantis IX (heh). Still got time later to level my new Soldier too.

I tried both Chestshot and bellyshot -- seems to be similar. Truth be told she was at full Barriers and just one jump from grabbing me, so I ain't sticking around to see which part had thicker armour, breast or bellybutton. Out came the Cobra, down went the Banshee, and over the headset came "Why?" in a plainative tone.... xD

Btw , goliath challenge is having the community kill 1,000,000 brutes, not finishing silver reapers , thats for the commendation pack.

Done my part there too. :) I'm not the greatest Silver player. I don't mind hunting Brutes, it's his friends I usually have problems with..

Anyway, good times continue in the night. Levelling my Human Soldier in Bronze, Glacier. I always liked Glacier, it's a tight map that is easy to work within. Brought a Raptor, nice to gun with. Decent team, one guy eventually glitched into the ceiling and couldn't get to the extraction.

Wave 10 was a hack at the corridor outside evac zone. Man that was a clusterf**k. The Geth decided to all rush up the stairs from the basement and came in a straight line. Lots of Pyros and Hunters, lots of Concussion and Biotic spam. Eventually managed to clear the corridor and now that I thought about it I didn't even drop this game...

Evac wave, Geth Prime showed his frame in the doorway and immediately ate a missile to the face. Splash damage killed the Pyros and Hunters around him. Yay!

Post game, enough credits for another Vet Pack. Mantis X, Phaeston II. Yay! xD

So to round off tonight...

Forgot to mention in the earlier Geth match, I took out a Geth "person of interest".... but I didn't kill him. Oh no. I Concuss'ed him off the ledge he was climbing up. Long way down. Counts.

Next was a test of the new Mantis X. Bronze, Ghost, Reaper. As expected, the Mantis X with Barrel I and AP I performed quite spectacular. AP and knowing where the mobs are likely to chain together meant I dropped quite a number of two-in-ones -- usually Cannibals, but occassionally Marauder-Cannibal pairs.

Also, AP mod inflict so much armour damage that my team was able to kill a Brute on the stairs across the pit. And Banshees weren't a real problem on their own. Now I just need to max out the barrel and AP mods.

So on and on the match went, until the Evac wave and the Reapers swarmed us. a Banshee and at least 2, maybe 3 Brutes, with some Ravager support. I got downed a few times, and each time picked up mostly by medi-gel. Timer wound down and a Brute got into the zone -- got killed, but he took the team down. I spammed medigel and managed to get up... in time to pick up Sole Survivor.

And I was the only one there who didn't need the extra XP.

Next two matches were so bad they were hilarious. PUG, Bronze, first was against the Geth on Dagger. Brought my Soldier to level. Third wave and we got our collective asses kicked. Why? Well, hacking/ activation; I was in the Array Control and could provide pinning fire to keep the Geth pinned. Turns out one other guy was on the far end trying to stem the Geth tide. And somehow the 2 doing activation got flatlined -- I suspect Geth Hunters. We were totally uncoordinated and paid for it...

... So I thought, hey, it's a one off, let's try for another one. So Cerberus, Glacier. Initial waves still a bit uncoordinated, but definitely getting better. Wave 6: Hacking, doorway to evac zone. So I was at the stairs junction, knew the spawn point was there and was suppressing one while keeping my gun pointed at two.

True to form Cerbies shows up, and then I started flailing at them with my Phaeston. Worked great, was pinning the enemy in the doorway with fire and CSSpam... and then my teammates started showing up. One, Two, great, we can hold this. Three. Yay. Wait, three?

Turns out, the jokers never activated the point, never started the hack, so all my pinning fire was pointless. GARARRGH. *facepalm*

Tried to go back but by this time we got sandwiched. It was not pretty.

Last match of the day was White, Cerberus. Turns out great. 1 new guy, 2 vets, so we got most of the bases covered. Even netted me a few Phantom kills by CCSpam and spraying her with Phaeston fire. New guy thankfully learnt quickly not to wander off too much on his lonesome, so in the end we full extracted. Good, smooth, nothing to write home about.

After mission, I went to buy a few Recruit packs to try to get more customization for my Infiltrator. No luck, I have a sneaking suspicion that as long as you have an active character of that sex and class, the cards won't show up.

Grr. Tonight was not a great night.

So, couldn't resist rolling up a new Infiltrator to replace the promoted one to try out the new Mantis X with Barrel II and AP I.

First match, good group, I thought. High N7 scores, means experienced. Me, the mook with the Level 3 Infiltrator. Ended up Bronze, Geth, Ghost. Didn't look too bad....

... except we got a AFKer. A Krogan AFKer, who camped in the LZ the entire game. So, Quarian, Asari, Human doing the heavy lifting while a Krogan snoozed in the LZ. Riiiight.

Toughest Bronze fight I could remember. Geth was buffed last week and it made their advances more coordinated. We usually could hold off a "Kill 'em All" wave, but the hacking on Wave 6 or 7 was a nightmare. Well, the precursor to the nightmare that was 11. I ended up stealth-reviving the Krogan a few times just so that the Geth got a better target than the rest of us.

Wave 11 was horrendous. Hunters and Pyros got into the LZ.. just bad. We made it out, but close one. Pulled a Barrel III out of the Vet Pack, so back we go.

So now a newly-minted Lvl 6, went out to Dagger, Reaper, Bronze. This team was much better, one new guy but he got with the program. Mantis X in low level is good against Bronze Brutes and Banshees, Ravagers can be downed in 2 shots. Problem was.. Vanguard. 10 secs from extraction, was still playing on the far end. Downed, and we partialed out.

Came out with a Phaeton III, so swapped to my Soldier and Tuchanka, Geth, Bronze.

Looks to be a good 3-player team at the start but.. must have been one of those nights. The others were really only interested in shooting things, not objectives. I remember capping all four objectives by my lonesome soldier self, with little support.. well there was one they were busy popping at Geth while the objective lay between and nobody bothered to cap it before I got there. Blood was a bit boiling by the time I capped #4 (we earned only 300 credits on that one...).

So I simply just camped at the far tunnel for the rest of the game, and just beat the crap out of the Geth that tried to get down the ladder. It was hilarious -- every wave, 2 Hunters, 1 or 2 Pyros and 3 or 4 Geth Troopers would try to come down. Concussive shot, Frag and gunfire greeted them. Remember I was using a Phaeston III -- those who claim that it's not good better be referring to non-Bronze levels. For at least the better part of 2 waves all I did there was kill Geths on the far end away from the others, who didn't come over to check for enemies.

Eventually the idea got through to one of the guys and he came over to assist -- could be the eventual #4 guy. Human Adept. Between the two of us we closed that road and did good enough to do "person of interests" wave. Extraction was similar, 4 shooters at a chokepoint can't do too badly.

The whole "shoot things and ignore the objectives" just doesn't sit well with me. Especially after I had to cap all the objectives AND chase down loose assassination targets. There wasn't too much of a team there, IMO.

So logged for the night, hope tomorrow is better.

Tonight my connection is very unstable. Many dropped games. Trying to get 33K credits was a pain in the posterior. Ended up 3 matches to extraction, out of maybe 6 or 7 tried.

Victory box gave me Pierce II for my SRs. No sign of the Commendation box. :(

1st was a Glacier Cerberus Bronze game. Team knew what they were doing, so it proceeded quite smoothly. Even with a mid-game host drop, we still made it to extraction.

2nd.. well, shortest game ever. Spawned into a Glacier on Wave 11. Appeared on the pad next to a Cerbie Trooper -- "What the...?" <1 min later, extraction. Eh. XP was nice, still levelling this Infiltrator. Still managed to kill a few Cerbies but....

3rd, after many tries... Giant, Cerbie, Bronze. Laggy game, or I'm tired, sniping wasn't that good. Got some kills. Memorables, Phantom climbing down a ladder and got hit; she hid, I sniped, Headless Upright Phantom. Stagger, flopped over quite dead. Quite a sight to see.

Many inferno grenades being tossed around. Poor Atlases didn't have a chance.

P.Vet box gave me a SR Barrel III, another UC and an Incisor II... meh on the last.

BTW, ~Level 10 Infiltrator with a Mantis X and SR Barrel II, Pierce II can take out Guardians from the front. Not reliably -- it depends on your distance from the Guardian apparently, further is more likely. Still a good way to quickly take down Guardians. With Barrel III, I think more reliable.

So far is a poor night. Later will revisit, hopefully the connection is better. I suspect ambient atmospheric and that too many people are logging onto the servers looking for their Commendation and Victory boxes.

Eh.. thanks?  I can see where that came from..

Anyway, back 3 games. Turned out I had my iPad hooked into the router I was using, once I got rid of it, it became a lot more stable.

1st game was Glacier, Cerberus, Bronze. Took the Sniper in. Good team, knew their stuff, knew the map. Very trigger happy with the Cobra though, Atlases kept blowing up. :D :D One thing I learnt on the map -- you can snipe through the glass panels, at least with an Pierce II -- and still kill. Ho ho, troopers are so short-lived now. As expected, much more consistent frontal kills of Guardians.

2nd game was brilliant. Giant, Cerberus, Bronze. Sniper in. Team started one short, couldn't be arsed to wait around for one more. So went in, basically cleaned house. Think was a Asari and a Human Vanguard first, with a Turian Sentinel joining us later -- could be wrong though. I had to cap 4 objectives again but much more happier about it, as we were one down and it's expected.

The Turian had a similar experience as I did, we were taking Cerbie waves from the LZ when he materialized (I think right behind some cerbies). Think he got a Nemesis kill within 10s of his appearance. Not too shabby. We then proceeded to stomp all over the Cerberus, don't think anyone dropped.. every time someone popped up, Stasis Bubble went out (her accuracy was a bit wanting though), shots out, Cerbies down. Clockwork.

Wave 8 or 9 was a hacking, right under the sniper perch. I didn't hack because I was so busy sniping across the road that I ran the Mantis magazine dry. That's 20 shots out. Had to reload in the midst. I remember I caught a double Trooper (Pierce dropped both in one shot), at least one, maybe two Phantoms (one of which was a lucky "hey you're in my crosshairs!" shot) and lots of Engineers... gotten good at sniping their backpack to blow them up. One of the most enjoyable sniping spree ever.

Extraction was great. The AI cooperated and sent ALL the spawns through the covered hallway to the LZ.... and I was still sitting in the sniper perch. Atlas leading the way, out came a Cobra from 90 degrees across the road -- KILL STREAK! Heh. Wished I could have seen my missile strike from my teammates' perspective. Nearly timed to perfection... I aimed at the wall.

Since the AI decided to run all the spawns along that route, I basically had my hands busy sniping. Nearly forgot the clock, but ran in with 10~15s to spare. Clean extraction. Good run, good run.

Had enough money for a second P.Vet Box. Sniper Barrel V (heh), another UC, and another Incisor (III) IIRC. What the heck??

The third game was similarly good. Dagger, Reaper, Bronze, but took my Soldier in because I want to see the Phaeston's improvements. Swapped the ammo out for Pierce II, figured that's more useful.

Team was good, knew what to do. One hacking, we had so much firepower concentrated that the Reapers couldn't get too far from the down ramp.. we'll enfilade fire them and they fell apart. Pierce II turned up to be a good idea, since the Phaeston really ate through the Ravager armour very quickly. It was also very good against Brutes and to some extent Banshees.

Extraction was not the usual point and we nearly missed it. Cobra'ed a Banshee but missed the silly Brute following up... had to deal with him the hard way. But just as the timer hit 10s, I was treated to the unusual sight of a Cannibal strolling up an invisible staircase to heaven... yes, my connection broke and I was ROBBED 10s from extraction. GARGH. :(:(<_<

Still, good game, good game.

Now to fight EA Support for my Commendation box. :/

So I fought the good fight and EA tossed me the Commendation Box. Hurricane.. sigh. Tried it out with my Adept (who's most likely to use it).

Kicks like a Mule. Not used to it. Guess I'll just park it...

The game was funny. As in Ouch-Haha funny. Reactor, Cerberus, Bronze. Wave 1 and the host disconnected. I suspect I became host, because everyone suddenly became very jerky. Anyhow, we somehow managed to survive to Wave 6, where it became impossible to work. I think we all just decided not to revive ourselves and let the torture end. XD

Hey-O Hey-O. More matches.

White/ Cerberus/ Infiltrator, White/ Cerberus/ Infiltrator, Reactor/ Geth/ Soldier. All made full extractions.

Two different PUG for the White maps. Both are quite decent, seems like this week all the gung-ho heroes are off. Went in with Mantis X/ Barrel V, AP II. Yes, the monster will frontally penetrate a Guardian and kill him. I at least two-fer twice, once was a Centurion-Trooper pairing. Must have hit the Centurion on the head. Atlases weren't a problem either, 1/2 Shields or 1/2 Armour will go with a canopy hit. Not quite Widow level, but close.

At least one Phantom headshot; 3 Phantom kills I think, 1 headshot, 1 bodyshot, 1 off-the-cuff through my teammate shot that bagged her.

Second White game had a somewhat off.. Engineer. Was very tempted to grab the mic to tell him that if an enemy recticle pops up, I'm going to shoot the rifle off through his ass whether he liked it or not. Still was a decent teammate. There was this hacking wave at the L corner near the rooms, we were camped in cover there and the AI kept sending out Engineers to set up turrets... I had a lot of practice on center-chest, exploding back turret.

Oh yeah, also -- clean miss by another Cobra again. Sheesh.

Second game gave me a Vet+ Box, which had 2 UC IIRC -- Phaeston IV and Asari Vanguard. So naturally, out came the Soldier.

Reactor Geth was also a good team, decent levels, knew what they were doing. I was running a Phaeston which comparatively to the damage thrown out by the other classes, I gotta say feels kind of weak.. anyhow, I was running the Phaeston with Clips V and AP II I think, so decent AP, turns out useful for Pyros. 90 round in the clip, 325 in the back and AP, good combo. Recoil is a bit problematic though -- still need to level this gun a bit more. But it does what it's supposed to, which is to get their attention while my team mates stick things up their rear ends.

Geth Hunters are truly scarier now, as they are now faster and in Reactor, harder to see. My team got ambushed by a Hunter/ twin Pyro team that nearly downed all of them. I arrived on the scene late and was only able to shower the Hunter with pellets and knockback a Pyro I think. Nice thing about Reactor is that the enemy gets bunched together too, meaning Frag is easier to use.

Extraction was a dull affair because I was forward defending and knocked a Pyro out while I think the Geth Prime was Cobra'ed, then I just spent some time concussing Geth Troopers off a ladder they just came up. Thing is the AI looks to be cheating in such cases, it might teleport a Trooper to slightly beyond the ladder if it thinks a CSSpammer will just keep kicking the Trooper off.

That's the top half of the night. Taking a break.. when I come back, I'm drawing the GPR II out for my Soldier to see if I can hose down some other enemies. Slapping Clips V and AP II on it. Stat-wise this gun looks very similar to the Phaeston IV, so that might be interesting...

Joined a match that was ongoing ... the first thing I saw when I entered the LZ was a Phantom instagibbing me.

Not even a second in the game and already dead. That was funny ... in a mean, sadistic way, but funny nontheless.

Neofelis: heh yeah can relate.. Phantoms are not nice.

Back end of the night was not so great. Lots of failed missions, mostly against Geth -- Reactor, IIRC and a Glacier. Nothing wrong with the team, mostly people who know the trade, just that sometimes it's a drop, down to three and got overwhelmed.

Still, I think Geth is tougher now, perhaps too tough, but only in Hack endless respawns when the Hunters and Pyros can pile up -- you can't clear the specialists fast enough and they just run over you. I think we'll likely see a nerf on either Hunters, Pyros, or both.. probably a HP nerf, not a speed nerf. Speed feels correct, it's just too tough for a split team to get rid of them fast enough.

Last match was Dagger, Reaper, Soldier. Got a Drell, Salarian with a Widow, and... someone else. Sorry, can't remember. Most of the match was ok, with a Widow on Bronze, Brutes, Banshees and Ravagers can't survive too long.

Still, the hue and cry over the Geth Plasma Rifle is a bit overdone, at least on Bronze. The AR feels good; GPR II with Clips V and AP II (IIRC) has 144 shots per clip and over 500 rounds in total. Yes, you can run dry in a wave due to the lower damage (and I did), but you're not likely to need more than 600 rounds if you are careful. Given that it's a Level II weapon, it looks very attractive if I can level this up.

Accuracy is good, damage is not bad especially if you remember to hose for the head. Yes you CAN hose for the head... after you concuss the guy down. Also, AP II gives it enough bite that Ravagers are easy prey; you stagger the Ravager as you hit it and the RoF is so high it can't really respond well and it can't roll. So it gets stuck in a stagger lock and can't get out... dead Ravager.

GPR II's decent against a Banshee in close, not so good against a Brute (because a Brute tends to lunge and you have no time)... so the Soldier's job is to get around the Banshee and Brute and kill off the Ravagers before they do too much damage.

Wave 10 was a hack. In the middle of the open platform. 2 Teammates went down early to Brutes, IIRC, and the Salarian and I eventually made it to the hack point.. taking the long way round thanks to Ravagers aplenty. The two of us stood there hacking, and we worked out a good system: His widow went to the big boys, I keep the small scrubs off him. Concussion Spam to conserve ammo works very well against Cannibals but it was a VERY CLOSE thing.... timer hit zero, hack complete. WHEW!

Both of us bolted straight away to get away from the Cannibals. Me also to pick up ammo.. was down to 100+ rounds and I was conserving ammo! Then we regroup, went back and cleared the deck of the remaining Cannibals -- with extreme prejudice. Wasn't even going to be nice to them.

Extraction was almost mundane (Think someone cobra'ed the Banshee, 4 player firepower'ed the Brute down flat), with me hosing the ramp down. Full extraction -- everybody been through a tough fight and nobody wants to miss the flight. :)

Bah. Bad connections night again. Played I think 4 or 5 matches, only 1 got to extraction.

Asari "Bubbles" sendoff -- Lvl 19 Adept, Glacier, Cerberus. Good game, good crew. Nowadays a bit tired of the "AA battery" but she's still good for chuckles. Glacier is also a well-known map so it's like clockwork: Suppress lab spawn point, move up to top of ramp, Bubble to block ramp, kill kill kill. Chokepoint tactics.

Now I know why Carnifex is so good. AP AND accurate with the right mod. Up the damage and it'll kill Guardians good. Noted for the next toon...

Anyway, Stasis a couple of Phantoms and executed them with headshots. Hated foes. Extraction was hairy, I think I caused a partial when I died inside the extraction zone. Medigel'ed immediately but think was too late.

Anyway, war injury. Retired the Asari.. Probably go for an Asari Vanguard next. Carnifex, maybe Disciple.

Back to Soldier. GPR II in full swing, gun is sweet. Reactor/ Cerberus. Yes need to flail a bit but it's safe when you already knock them all down with Concussion. One wave I was capping points again but somehow my team all got taken out. I managed to solo the rest of the Cerbie Troopers (about 5?), one Centurion (stupid enough to walk upramp into headshots), and one Nemesis. The Nemesis I just Concussed to death.. faster than the gun. :D

Highlights -- one Phantom was going down a ladder. I helped her by concussing her off the ladder and letting gravity take over. Flailed her down with the GPR and she cloaked -- bad idea, since I'm already hosing her area down, so she's still getting hit. Died rather quickly under that firepower.

I find that Soldier with GPR just need to keep advancing while throwing out firepower. They'll take hits but with a good RoF weapon and various powers, they can suppress the enemies, push in while his teammates follow in to finish the rest off. By being aggressive and pushing the enemy back, they are taking the aggro off the teammates, allowing them to assess the threats and pick off the bigger bosses. Works a charm today when I was at the point and just grounded into a full pack of Cerbies. Got this feeling Sentinels can also take this support, maybe can roll up a Turian or Krogan after this.

Wave 9 or 10, snuck up onto an Atlas and Cobra'ed him. End of the round, EA took revenge by dropping me. Gargh.

Heh, managed to sneak one more game in. Hmm, Collector II isn't too bad as rifles go, feels punchy, can put Geth into the ground fairly fast. Fairly large ammo load too, 50/ 200+ with AP and Ammo.

FWIW, Reactor/ Geth. Messy affair.
