I'm never going to live the Mordin comparisons down, am I?

... and where did the 7 Krogans come from?

===========================

Back end of tonight's MP. Decided to push the Asari Vanguard. Went into a Lobby, saw.. N7 7 Soldier, N7 8 Soldier, and one higher guy. Eh ok... Dagger/ Reaper. Probably can cut it.

Should have known better.

Literally fell apart on Wave 3. Assassination Wave, they (and I) got too caught up splattering bullets. Got to the last guy but being unfamiliar with Charge, I couldn't get it to work and got shot to bits. The rest of the team also fell dead at this point. Embarassing.

Ah well, live and learn. Stuck with the group, the higher level guy went off and got replaced by another Soldier. Went into Ghost/ Cerberus.Turned out great. With a similar class to guide them and a Biotic support, they turned out to be surprisingly cohesive. Established base of fire, forward recon, biotic pin (stasis), quick takedown. Clockwork.

There was once when I caught a whole bunch of Cerbies jumping down and managed to Stasis Bubble the first one.. and every Cerbie fell into the Bubble and got frozen. Turkey Shoot. I looked behind me and all 3 of them were there splattering shots out. I looked at my pistol, decide to put it away, and just sustained the Bubble in place. Let them have the kills, why not?

Speaking of the pistol, I swapped from a Carnifex I to a Phalanx IV, after reading something in a thread. Felt better, more room for error with the bigger clip. And not to be underestimated, I killed (I think) at least 2 Atlases with it. The firebase was at the sniper perch, I flanked the Cerberus Atlas. Stasis to strip the infantry out. Then just keep rapid fire into the Atlas. Killed both with pistol shots and some assists.

Must've been a sight for the newbies. One slight Asari, armed with a pistol, plinking away, and the Atlas explodes.

Managed to stasis every Phantom and killed them. Good run, satisfying.

Extraction I stayed out to cap a spawn to give us time, Stasis to delay more. Saw a teammate go down and hurried back -- Atlas snuck up on them. Out comes the Cobra, no clear ground to hit, so a clean hit on the torso, a good one. Got very confused in a melee up there but eventually got down to the extraction zone. Bubbling and clean application of shots kept the Cerbies out, Full extraction.

Last mission of the night, Reactor/ Cerberus. Good team, knew their wetwork. Embarassingly, fell on Wave 1 -- was at the top of the Reactor, Cerbies dropped in and surrounded me. Good thing they were on the ball, mopped up cleanly.

Settled into a routine, until about round 7 or 8. We were down at the lower end of Reactor, I was near the doorway. Cerbies spawned on the other, higher end, including a Phantom. Started throwing up Bubble and sniping with the pistol.. almost got the whole wave by myself, until the others caught on and came down to join the Turkey Shoot. Maybe should have waited till they were closer, but didn't feel like dancing with Phantoms.

Next Wave... same difference. They threw more down the reactor, we just continued to bubble and snipe. A lot went into the Reactor. None got out. Clean sweep.

Extraction was anti-climax. Didn't see any big bosses, didn't see anyone drop a Cobra. Might have. All I saw were waves of mooks. So it wasn't too difficult, and we had Full Extraction.

Asari Vanguard is now about 2 matches away from hitting Level 20, that makes 2 ready to promote. She learnt a lot, including how to use Charge smartly. Still, I see also where lag can get her killed easily, so not keen to run Vanguards. After I get her to 20, I'll probably swap to the Salarian.. that shouldn't take me long to level especially if I farm Geth.

Got invited to two Random/Random gold games by a friend yesterday, was a HI 15 packing the Valiant I.
Team was SI 20 (BW III), AA 20 (Phalanx VII), HE 17 (Mattock VIII).
Game 1 was Cerberus Ghost.
Wave 3 Assassination, completed with 2:30 on the clock, last nemesis died to the tune of "This is my rifle, this is my gun".
Wave 6 Activation, finished in about a minute, maybe more. Mop up took quite a bit longer with all the Atlas mechs stomping about.
Lost the HE midway through Wave 7 to a phantom instakill. Vengeance arrived in the form of three BW and Valiant shots before she even got the sword out of his corpse.
Wave 8 saw a near party wipe when we got flanked by two phantoms and an Atlas. HE, AA and I down during this wave, recovered when SI rezzed all three of us in under half a minute.
Wave 10 was Hacking, despite a solid minute of three of us muttering variations of the phrase "Please not hacking" into our mikes. Wasn't actually difficult, come to think of it. Had maybe 8 Atlas mechs (Hello Warpbombs), 15+ Phantoms (I think I reenacted that scene from Scanners 10 times on that wave alone).
Wave 11 was 2 solid minutes of "Oh god what" as Atlas mechs, Phantoms, and Guardians came streaming in from all sides, forcing us back to the EZ at 30s remaining. Full extraction
Round stats:
8 revives by everyone in total.
Topped the board with a score of 130k. (<3 Valiant)
Equipment used: 0. Levelled once and picked up a GPR V from the resulting spectre pack.

Game 2 was Reaper Giant and is solely responsible for my nightmares involving respawning Banshees.
Wave 3 Hacking was in the middle of the top of the map, no cover and with Cannibals just streaming in from all directions. Thankfully zombie ****** didn't show up to crash the party.
Wave 6 Assassination had us squaring off with 8 banshees and god knows how many brutes in the cramped confines of the control room. Biobombs came in very handy here and we only lost the HE to an instakill.
Things got bloody hairy at wave 9. Banshees hit the control room and took out HE with an instakill. Seconds later the other Banshee takes out the AA with an instakill. Bravely, bravely bold Sir Infiltrators got the hall out of dodge. I get taken down by a Banshee DoT. SI runs to save me but leads a Banshee to me just as I medi-gel and why hello there innards, didn't expect to see you again today. SI saves the day with 4 Cobras as pair after pair of banshees spawn and we breathe a collective sigh of relief.
Wave 10 Hacking continued the trend of disappointing everyone's hopes. In a moment of hilarity, the AA and I both shot our feet when a pair of banshees came a-knockin', but otherwise warpbombs took care of everything before the ravagers came to play.
Extraction wave had us camping in the control room and tossing hypervelocity peanuts at everything that came near until 20s. Then we made our middle finger salutes and buggered out with 3 seconds to spare.
Equipment used: 1 medigel. Levelled again and picked up a SR piercing III and Revenant I.

Last night wasn't so hot for MP as EA Server didn't want to talk to my xBox. I ended up trolling Reapers in SP, ducking in and out of systems. By the time I finished, EA Server was in a better mood but it was already too late.

Tonight, decided to grind up the Asari Vanguard and get the Vanguard experience over and done with. Aside: Can you tell I'm not a big fan of the class?

So got into an experienced lobby. with two very chatty N7 600+ players. Went into Dagger/ Cerberus, and did quite well.. considering I wandered into the Wave I enemy spawn point by mistake and came out clean with kills, it's pretty clear how the match would go. Mostly Asari running around Bubbling and Headshot executions.

So no surprise that the Full Extraction came and went, but it was a surprise to see my at the top of the board. Anyway, the group seems to be good and my Asari is one game away from 20, so might as well stick with it..

So in we go to Giant/ Geth. The IRL female gamer swapped her Turian for an Asari Adept and it basically ended up a big Bubble Wrap. Nothing really major cropped up though I had to apologize for having to go AFK in the midst of a wave.. came back in time at the end of the wave but not too good there.

Towards the end, the chatter on the line grew a bit excessive, so after the Full Extraction I bailed. Enough XP to level, enough Credits for 2 Vet Boxes, so might as well go back to base and open those boxes... Hurmph. Tempest IV and Eviscerator V. Shotties. :/

Stocktook recently and while my guns are ok, my mods aren't.. still missing some. Have to keep at the Vet boxes for now. At any rate, my Asari is 20, just in time. With the Infiltrator and the Asari I basically met the requirements to the weekend challenge. So Kermit is coming out to play....

Reached wave 10 on Reaper Silver

'Hosting player has left..."

I'm the only one that stayed.

Used 3 missiles, spent 15 minutes on my own fighting off the wave.

Extraction

I run away and hide in a corner - excited coz of the XP and credits...

'You have lost your connection'

Just sat there, then smiled. I think I short circuited the rage centre in my brain.

Uh, I know that. It starts with an unbelieving "Huh?/Wud.?" and then changes to a sarcastic smile and then into some weird euphoria. Had that happen to me a couple of times.

En contraire, besides ending the match as it should, with XP and Credits and all, it is the ONLY way to end a match. Because if the game decided to screw you over, it should very well screw you over that hard all you can do is smile. Image IPB

All that effort, no compensation. For too long I could never understand the plight of the African slave trade, I could attempt to imagine the horrors, but to truly understand the misery of such a vile existance - one must D/C on wave 11. I want my damn rights!

I'm kidding of course - I just look at it now from a new perspective - I did after all get valuable experience, the next time - wave 10 Reaper silver will feel easier. Whatever the situation one can 'reap' the rewards. Don't mock my bad pun I've earned it...:D

*Snorts* Figures. Yeah you earned that pun.

Back half of the night. Trotted out Kermit the Salarian. Wanted to do Geth Farming but got everything but Geth Farming. D'oh.

First of two is Ghost/ Reaper. Bunch of ok people, a bit too assaulty to be right, no real sniping support. Still, first few waves are ok, nice to see the Cannibal Jerk Dance when I hit them with ED. Wave 6 or 7, blasted Brutes shows up. Phalanx IV with AP does decently but not great, eventually can take the Brute down.

Problem was, there seemed to have been a stupid Ravager sales somewhere. Stupid Rachini Breeder probably got pod-happy. So many of them! Couldn't turn around without a blast coming your way. Finally managed to kill enough to get past the waves.

When the Banshee inevitably showed up, ED took her shield down and fire took her out. Pretty decent. Ravager was a bigger problem for us, since we lacked range support. I was also wondering, why I didn't see more Banshees.. a bit slow going, today.

Extraction had a heart attack. I was standing by the alleyway corner, capping the spawn point. It took a bit of time to register that the Banshee wail I'm hearing was coming from behind me. Opps.

Turned around to see a Banshee and a Brute decamping from the spawn point that I was supposed to have capped. YIKES! Guess the Banshee was as surprised to see me 'cos she didn't grab me. Somehow dodged out of the way while taking fire, and unlimbered the Cobra in time to aim at the ground.. I think this was my first clean kill of both a Banshee and a Brute in one Cobra. Usually the Banshee 'ports a ways in front and I'll catch her but not the Brute.

After that extraction was fairly painless. Full Extraction, everyone got on the shuttle.

In between the first and second match I hit an annoying number of bad groups and hung xBox. Eventually, I got into a decent lobby.

Second match, went in White/ Cerberus. Frustrating. Kermit was.. adequate. Meaning, he shocked everything he could find but wasn't OSK'ing anything. It's annoying, slowed. Stayed mostly inside White so that I can get closer to hit people and then headshot them with the Phalanx, but Cerberus trolled me by sending in the first two waves by the landing pad. <_<

Killed an Atlas coming up the ramp by ED'ing and random potting with the Phalanx. Killed a Phantom by ED'ing her to death, she's surprisingly squishy to ED -- her (cloaked I think) twin got me later on the landing pad. Wave 10 (IIRC) rushed down to cap a point only to be greeted by another Atlas. Out came the Cobra, clean hit on the torso.. then got ambushed by Cerbie Turrets. Sigh. Confused wave there, lots of lead flying around as the Engineers managed to get set up somehow under the sniper's eyes.

Extraction Wave, Atlas came out and last Cobra went out. Clean kill and turned out to be Kill #50 for me, plus a kill streak. Without an Atlas in support the Cerbie forces fell apart, so Full Extraction. I was pleasantly surprised to see myself at the top of the table ahead of the Vanguard.... by 70 points. Woah.

Now that I have some experience with the Salarian Engineer, I'm starting to see its problem. Incredibly good against Geth, but only adequate against Cerberus, and somewhat better against Reapers. Part of the problem is that I don't have an adequate gun -- only have a Carnifex I, which I'm not comfortable with, and tried the Talon I and it didn't work out. Maybe a shottie, but CD would be impacted.

Anyway, he's on his way up to be prepared to be promoted. Early end to my MP night, 4 matches only. Ah well. Sleep is useful...

*ahem* *ahem*

Here is my Elcor impersonation.

(Resigned) This gamer was looking over the arsenal yesterday, and came to the conclusion that will have to start going for Silver games soon.

(Indignated) The reason is because the team no longer have a lousy weapon to work with.  All the Common and many Uncommon weapons are now at a decent state, and the team are reporting good results against Bronze enemies.

(Bemused) So in order to put a bit more challenge into the gaming, the team probably need to get in some Silver matches. That is somewhat perplexing.

(Annoyed) Unfortunately, the arsenal doesn't have sufficient Silver-level weapons and mods, so it won't be immediate -- Pistols in particular has been found lacking. Infiltrators will likely go in first as there are Widows available.

===============================

Hmm Elcor's not my strong suit.

Anyhow, yeah. Getting a little too proficient with the normal weapons, Commons are all at X and the Uncommons are reaching around V. You can't help but overkill against Bronze at this stage, not quite challenging when your Phalanx IV can kill Atlases with rapid fire.

Still, I'll need a bit of time to find the right weapons and mods. But eventually I guess I'm forced to play Silver.. because playing Bronze with a Soldier and Phaeston X might be a bit.. boring. :innocent:

Why not do a Bronze solo? I always say that, but it doesn't sound as fun as a squad.

Anyway, joined a game JUST in time before it failed, all 3 down. Just a nemesis, engineer and turret. Took out the latter - then made them watch me for 3 or 4 minutes chasing a Nemesis all around the map. ^_^

Not very flexible in their work, I mean, I'm standing there infront of them...pointing a Carnifex to their head - they just sit there for a while, then run away - go after them and point it again - light melee, chase, overload, light melee.

Cruel I know - seemed like sexual harassment or something.

Maybe. Something I suppose I'll eventually do. Honestly though? As much as I cuss that stupid Clownguard, MP is about shooting things with other people. I can do a solo run, but I might as well go do my SP too.. I'm still doing my first run there!

Heh at least you saved the game. To be honest, aside from the Phantom, the most annoying enemy is probably the Nemesis. Precisely because she spends most of her time hiding, and running away, for very little benefit. And BW go and make her so agile that some attacks just plain miss...

==============================

Short night. Work was heavy this week so it's taking a toll and I'm playing waaay too many matches... Anyhow, 2 ready to promote, kicking Kermit up. Went for Geth farming but seems like few people farm Geth at Bronze... shrug.

First was Glacier/ Cerberus. Took a shottie in, the Scimitar because of the 8 rd mag. Not working out for me, don't feel the take-down power. Other shotties, aside from the massive Claymore and the GPS, doesn't quite have the magazine load either. Overall shotguns not working out for Kermit. Nothing much to the game, Full Extraction.

Bought a Vet Pack and got a Locust IV, so decided to bring it to test -- had good experience with Locust previously. Stacked in Cryo II to have ice fun. But...

After this I had a lot of trouble getting games. Either host drops, or people kick my Salarian Engineer out. One was another Salarian Engineer, another lobby demands a headset. On Bronze.  The third swap challenge up to gold, IMO because a pair of low levels dropped in. Argh. Finally got into a decent lobby.

Second was White/ Cerberus. Glitchy and bad connection. When you visibly stutters around and your team's sniper is seen flying through space AWAY.... yeah connection problems. Somehow still survived. But Wave 3 or 4, got caught and downed in the wallway at the staircase, and managed to glitch into the ground somehow with my body at the ammo case and my POV in the doorway. Stuck firmly too. Oh well, since I'm conveniently in the doorway I just keep it clear.. fought two waves there, hosing down the Guardians until the bright idea of letting myself die and come back from the glitch hit me.

Got killed by a Phantom which blindsided me on the stairs, and managed to hose a couple of Atlases down while I'm playing, but Locust SMG... good for delivering Cryo, bad for anything else. Full Extraction, including the flying sniper.

Bought a pack. Incisor V. Ah the trolling packs... <_<

Got back in, went to search for a Geth game and finally got into one!... Dagger/ Geth, Wave 3. Eh, was very surprised to see a Geth in my face when I materialized. As random insertion into random PUG goes, it wasn't too bad. Asari Vanguard who's a little bit too lone-ranger. Good though. Think a Salarian, and a Human. Overall was just hunkering down in Array Control killing Geth. Wasn't so fun, but decent. Partial Extraction due to a Pyro getting to close and nailing a guy at 3 seconds.. no time to revive.

Open a pack, hmm, Mattlock V. Not too bad. Got me thinking, Locust IV not working out for me, let's try an AR. Ended up with an Avenger X for cooldown. Last game, just to test out -- Reactor/ Cerberus. I always did like Reactor because I work ok in it, at least with an Infiltrator. Kermit decided to be more team friendly and just stuck to the team. Think Salarian Engineer and a couple of Humans, one a Vanguard at least.

Avenger X turns out to be quite good. Enough stopping power for my needs, and CD isn't affected. Found out the joys of Tech Burst so now I'll have to level my Incinerate a bit. Think I found the working load for Kermit now, so now just need to push Incinerate a bit.

Wave 10, Hacking. We were down on the reactor door, Atlas spawned just to our left, behind the stacks. So we ended up dodging between the stacks while ED'ing the Atlas and hosing it down with AR fire.. never had a chance to bring its firepower to bear. Engineers started to drop down from above and I was quite happy I slapped AP mod on the Avenger, since it allowed me to blow his toy turret up. Hectic, but thankfully the Hacking point is not in the Reactor, so had plenty of cover to ED and AR the dropping troopers.. Cryo made a lot of sense by locking down the enemy quickly.

Extraction wave, Atlas spawn in the same spot and I spotted it early. Didn't feel like doing "Dodge the Atlas" so just sent a Cobra its way; floor hit, splash kill. Killstreak too IIRC. Without an Atlas, Bronze Cerberus rapidly drops away. AP AR fire drops Guardians at a decent rate, so we didn't have much trouble with the Full Extraction.

Didn't bother to take too many notes tonight, so just some cliffs.

Promoted the Asari Vanguard and the Infiltrator today, so I met my challenge requirements. Didn't seem to have ran into any bugs, fingers crossed.

Took Kermit out to level.

1. Dagger/ Geth. Should have been enjoyable, but 4 players dropped to 3. And one is a Vanguard. High level, but not really interested in playing as a team. Capped the good spawn points (where the snipers/ gunners can kill things), resulting in flanking Geths, ignoring battlefield situations (was fighting Troopers in Wave 7 or 8, when you have to start watching out for Primes... sure enough, the other Soldier was holding off Prime and friends while he beats Troopers...:? ), was usually on far side of map (ok in 4 player, not so good in 3). Yes he died. No I didn't revive.

Generally he was competent, but just there to get the round over with IMO. So not really working for the team, in some parts actually hurting the team with poor tactics. Decent game, not happy, but the nice thing about Bronze PUG is that you throw away bad memories quickly.

Next got into White/ Geth (IIRC). Good team, we cleaned house. Avenger X worked out well, now I know what to use in the future. Full Extraction IIRC.

Got tired of grinding Kermit -- Level 19 to Level 20 is usually a slog. Started a brand new Infilitrator, to work on the Widow. No XP card means I go in as Level 1.. so the poor team had to carry me a bit.

Great team though, White/ Geth again, Turian Sentinel who knew his job, a Krogan, and a Drell. Worked extremely well together, and helped this Level 1 along. Widow work is a bit harder than Mantis work but end result is nicer IMO. Full Extraction, never a problem.

Fought in Glacier/ Geth next, again a competent team. Was a Hacking round when all 4 of us were clustered in the basement hack. Annoyingly tight, a lot of time my teammates were blocking my sights. Widow proved its worth by knocking Primes out relatively quickly.

Last game of the night, went to Giant/ Reaper. Nice test. Decent team, a bit uncoordinated sometimes, but works. Had a few Banshee kills -- Widow works great with a Banshee especially at range, seems to do more damage. Headshot one from across the map, think I tapped one for damage (might not have killed). Brutes too, a lot more, with 2 on an Assassination wave -- ass-shooting Brutes do a lot more damage, as indicated here. Ravagers I had a harder time because at the level I need three shots, so not so good.

Extraction Wave, I stayed behind to flank the enemy, but Banshees and Brutes moved too fast for me, so I got down to the EZ fast. Turned the corner to see the Banshee Sync-kill the other infiltrator... and I flipped up a Cobra to kill it dead. Was wondering why the jokers didn't do that earlier, before the Banshee killed it and hopefully could kill the Brute too. Might be because they feel there's no point to waste a Cobra in extraction wave.

Anyhow, Brute escaped the blast, so had to take it down the usual way. By then Cannibals and Husks had hit and overran so it became quite confused, but firepower eventually broke their back and we got out. Partial due to the Sync Kill.

After this, decided to spend a bit of money, got 6 Spectres. Not too bad, not great... Matlock VI, Phaeston V, Revenant IV, Incisor VI (Troll...) , GPR III, Claymore II, SMG Barrel I, AR Barrel II, Sniper Scope I, Pistol AP I, Pistol Melee I. Decent, like the Phaeston, Revenant, GPR and Claymore particularly. Would have prefer Widows or BWs, but you go to war with the army you got, not the army you want.

sliverofamoon: Well I hope your Kermit has better luck than I do... (see below).

Nuukor: Ow. Team got separated?

==============

Anyway, early start to Sunday Gaming.

Got Kermit out again. Might as well level him out.

First game: Dagger/ Reapers. Clownguard again. At least this time he didn't cap good spawn points so the team could get some kills in at range. But in return I was treated to a constant audio commentary (which I can't decipher.. only the "Please Revive" during extraction). Sorry Vanguards, but people like this "gentleman" is really not helping your case.

This match was also one that I was wondering what's wrong with the bloody system and my team. I ended up solo'ing two Banshees, killed a third, and Cobra'ed a fourth during extraction. Me. A Salarian Engineer. Good grief. The first one locked onto me, so I didn't mind. The second the target (think a Soldier) bugged out of sight while I was hammering on her, so she locked onto me... Erk. Luckily her Absorb had a grace period and I hammered her with ED and Incinerate as I backed away, then Avenger'ed her. Oddly, I was able to outpace her, I think because I was constantly peppering her and she couldn't use her teleport.

The third was just stupid. Saw her approaching the tunnel, went into Array Control to line up an ambush for her... Clownguard kept Charging her and keeping her out and I had no LOS or target lock. Eventually the Banshee got tired and speared the Clownguard. That solved the problem..

Why anyone wants to solo a Banshee is beyond me.

(Before anyone ask why I didn't communicate.. no mic. On Bronze. C'mon, don't be stupid and keep meleeing/ charging a Banshee. Do it when there's sufficient support. Trying to solo a Banshee isn't something you do as first resort.)

Final Banshee.. Extraction Wave. Didn't feel like playing around and they were all clustered together anyway. One Cobra out, one bunch of dead enemies. Of course, the system got its revenge on poor Kermit, because just before extraction he got taken down.. Partial.

Second was in Reactor/ Cerberus. To be honest, couldn't remember much about the match. Was a good one, just not memorable. Full extraction.

Was just shy some XP to get to 20, so went in again. Ghost/ Reaper. Good team, knew their stuff. Caught a couple of Marauders in mid air as they jumped and they landed without shields. Heh. :) Prefer my Asaris for this since Stasis bubbles are more fun that way.

This match is odd for Kermit because while the stupid Banshees wailed away quite often, he actually never saw a single Banshee until the extraction wave. Kermit usually is in the alley guarding the back door and the system was very kind to provide sufficient entertainment in the forms of Husks, Cannibals and Marauders, so I was kept quite busy holding them back. The rest of the team took care of the Banshee apparently.. There was a Turian Sentinel and a Drell Adept, so plenty of firepower and Biotics.

Plenty of Ravagers and Brutes though. Made it a point to see the Brute's butt. It's softer there, easier for Avenger rounds to get in. Ravagers are a pain, one wave I got bracketed by three. Needless to say got floored, but thankfully an alert teammate picked me up. Next Kermit develops Incinerate first.

Oh, and Wave 3 was a treat. We got Hacking, in the room next to the landing pad. Usually this can be a nightmare, as there are covered approaches to the room which meant short-ranged firefight. Thankfully, this was an early wave, so only Marauaders and Cannibals. Against Cannibals though...

What happened was that we managed to drop a couple of Cannibals in front of the directly opposite doorway, the one near the sniper perch down ramp. Cannibals being what they are, they started going for lunch... which meant they were going in predictable paths. And that meant dead Cannibals. As the lunch pile got larger, more Cannibals got attracted to it, which just meant a Turkey Shoot. It was one of the most uneventful hacking experience in memory.

Only Banshee Kermit saw was the usual "Cobra to face" Banshee at Extraction. That took out the Brute but I think she 'ported at the last minute and was knocked down to 2 armour bar... and she appeared beside/ behind me, was quite shocked by that. Managed to hose her down (or my teammate incinerated her). The quick disposal meant a lull in the fighting and we were able to hold out well for Full Extraction.

With that, Kermit hit 20 and I gladly promoted him. Didn't have that great an experience with him, Salarian Engineer is not that great an all-rounder, but good against Geth, which I unfortunately was not able to get good PUG matches against. There were some build choices that impacted my experience, so if I had to rebuild Kermit, I know what to do to have a better experience.

Took a spin out with the new Infiltrator, getting used to her bigger rifle, the Widow. With Ammo mod, she's essentially a big Mantis, but with poorer Penetration.. couldn't do somethings my Mantis with Piercing could. Not too happy, since the Widow is harder to level to improve the ammo load to a point where I can swap the mod out.

Was Reactor/ Cerberus, but lost connection at Wave 10. Frustrating. On the flip side, managed to Widow a couple of Phantom, gratifying to see them splatter. Managed to set up a round where the enemies were all coming down the Reactor.. Reactor Turkey Shoot with a Widow is entertaining.

Unfortunately, I'm seeing an increasing lack of knowledge on the players' part on spawn capping and how it impacts gameplay. I know it's Bronze but sometimes playing spawn camping during breaks will make the next round much easier. Maybe it's also because veteran players don't take Bronze very seriously, but still..

Anyway getting a bit tired of the MP. I think I'll take a break and go play SP for today, with some MP matches to keep the Galaxy Readiness up.

Quick Infiltrator game. Dagger/ Geth. 2 Infiltrators, a Vanguard and an Engineer IIRC.

Vanguard was ok this round, but he dropped mid way through, down to 3 players. Still could carry the round, no issue. Extraction Wave, the host left the game.. uh I hope it's a bad connection/ d/c, otherwise... 2 mins, dude?

So host left, host migration.. and we were treated to the stupid sight of stepping off the shuttle (it's still there!), the announcer telling us to get back to the LZ (the shuttle's still there!), which happens to be the same as the initial zone (the shuttle's still there!), and then the shuttle flies off.. without us. Just so it can wait 2 minutes and fly back. Trolled by Shuttle... xD

It was hectic for 2 players to clear an extraction. So many Hunters and Pyros (Cobra'ed the Prime away earlier). In the end, I had to cloak-extract... surrounded by Hunters and Pyros, one cloaked infilitrator managed to crawl onto the Shuttle. Sole Survivor/ Partial.

Only two games today. Both to mess around with my Widow Infiltrator.

Both are on White/ Reaper, but I have to say team composition effects really kick in here.

First match, got a newbie, and a couple of vets. They knew how to work in a team, to not get into each other's way. We blocked out a kill zone at the end of the long open passage and just kept killing Reapers. Even Banshees were no issue, Brutes were messier. I was able to utilize the Widow's long-range firepower more fully. As a result, I got top spot for scoreboard, but it was really the ability of the team to compliment each other that got us so successfully through. (And no, I wasn't chasing kills. Spent one objective round capping, so I got few kills then. But once we got into a rhythm the mobs just melted away.)

Second match.. Quarian Engineer. Urgh. First thing she did was to deploy a turret. Which I had no problem with. The problem was where she deployed the turret -- which was at the far corner. Meaning all the mobs backed up around the corner out of line of sight to my Widow. Which meant I can't use the superior ranged firepower to winnow the Reapers down so that the other two could take things apart closer in.

And she consistently deployed it there every Wave, basically diminishing the team's ability. Had it been some other map I'd have found a different sniping lane, but White is bereft of good sniping lane and she just blocked the "correct" one. Urgh. Rage. So instead of 4 players working together, it ended up 3 players and one frustrated sniper.

(Not to mention she was consistently standing in front of me, blocking my LOS anyway. Until I got fed up and camped at her spot, forcing her to go somewhere else, and more importantly not to throw that turret so damn far!)

I can't help but feel a bit satisfied when a Banshee picked her up and killed her. Still... the turret was effective against the small mobs but the bosses just ignored it. The Quarian simply wasn't very effective once the Ravagers and Brutes showed up. She ended dropped at least 3 or 4 times in the later waves, and at the end of the match, I was third in contributions, she was fourth. How that happened I don't know, since I simply never got any real kill chain going. Must be the Brutes I kept Widow-Probing in the ass.

I won't say she's not competent as she obviously knew the map, but she definitely wasn't paying attention to team dynamics. She fought the map in only one way; when the situation changed, the basic characteristics fo the class and the inflexibility of the player meant she couldn't adapt.

A very effective demonstration of how not paying attention to the team composition just shorts the team overall. A single bad turret deployment means 25% of the team is reduced in effectiveness, and that's just bad play.

Love this thread! I don't get to play too much but did have a really memorable game on Saturday.

My Brother-in-law was online and we got into a lobby together. I was psyched as Saturday is the only time I can get on the mic (kids and wife asleep upstairs every other night and I tend to get...excited when playing) and have the volume up. I picked my Asari Adept (Elehaya T'Losri, in case anyone cares) and he went with his Salarian Infiltrator. We both put some equipment on and got ourselves prepared. Gold, Unknown Enemy, Unknown Map. Bring it.

A few seconds later a user came in, N7 4 with a Level 4 Soldier and an Avenger II, Predator I combo. I said, politely, he'd not last very long and might want to try a different difficulty level. So he left. Shortly after a Level 20 Salarian Engineer entered followed by a Level 19 Turian Sentinel. All good, let's rock! We all readied up, only for those 2 players to pull out. A level 14 Drell Vanguard appeared and my finger hovered over the Kick button. But then I thought we'd just give it a go - we were itching to go and I figured we'd at least make Wave 3. So we removed most of our equipment and went for it.

Ended up against Cerberus on Dagger. My Brother-in-law laughed and got his Widow out. I took charge of the left corridor into the main building and the Vanguard took the opposite end. A few waves passed and we noticed that things were going okay. Then the poor Drell got hacked apart by a Turret inbetween waves and we were unable to get out to revive him due to his position and the location of the enemy. So Wave 5 was just the 2 of us. It got a little tense but we held the enemy off. The Vanguard player then spoke to us and apologised for not doing anything, but he hadn't tried the Drell before and didn't really know what to do. We told him to relax and try to call out what was going on his side of the map and just to have fun.

Fast forward to Wave 10, we're on the Hacking objective at the top of the large ramp towards the back of the building. Myself and the Drell have no Medi-Gel or Health Packs left, we've got 2 missiles between the 3 of us and Cerberus are closing in from all sides. At this point I didn't have Bubble, but was still creaming Phantoms left, right and Centre. The Drell was going crazy, I've no idea how he survived some of the encounters but he fought his backside off. And when we did falter the Salarian was there in a heartbeat with a resurrect. The hack finished, but we were so pinned own we had nowhere to go. I was bouncing BEs off the multiple Atlases and killing anything anywhere near them, which at this point was a lot! Once we pushed them back a tad the Infiltrator cloaked, moved and caught them in a pincer with myself and the Drell at the top of the ramp and him across the way at the bottom. This made short work of the enemies there, and we repeated the trick to hit the enemies inside the corridor from 2 fronts after.

We all cheered at the end of Wave 10, considering we'd really only expected to beat Wave 3 and receive a modest credit bonus - the 73k we received was very welcome. But our job wasn't done - we still had extraction to worry about. With only 3 players we decided starting from the opposite end of the map was just too risky as we really wanted to Full Extraction. So we started around halfway, and gradually fell back as the enemies pressed forward. I clearly remember looking around and reaction-stasising a Phantom who was halfway through a stab animation RIGHT next to me. I didn't think about it, just put 3 rounds in her head, warped her on the floor, dashed out of the way of a Atlas rocket and finished her and the Phantom next to her with a Throw that detonated the Warp. After that we used our remaining rockets and were ecstatic to see the 'Full Extraction' message appear at the bottom-right of the screen. YES!!!

It was the single most entertaining game I've played, communication made such a difference and we really looked out for each other. Unfortunately our intrpid Drell Vanguard was cheated out of both his EXP and credits, and said he received nothing for that 40 minute saga. Which was a real shame.

That reminds me...if the awesome and game Drell player happens to read this, add me!  I remember your name began with Gore but can't seem to find you on the Recently Met list.

I can't remember another game that has been this much fun, ever. Still can't believe people thought/think Mass Effect multiplayer should not exist. I love it!

Tonight was a bit frustrating.

First up, Infiltrator training.. Reactor/ Geth. 2 Widows, 1 Black Widow. So went camping at the bottom of the reactor, with predictable results. Lots of shooting. It's also very obvious the power of the Black Widow, the ability to quickly shoot again makes it much better over the Standard Widow. Team was good, since it's mostly a shooting game. Might have lost one player since we were down to three on Full Extraction. Was finding it hard to work in the Extraction Zone, might bring a Phalanx as a close-in arms next time.

Then I rolled up a Turian Soldier, to test out my new Phaeston VI (soon to be VII) and also to spec him for Proximity Mine. Went in Level 9, Ghost/ Cerberus. Jump into the match and immediately had connection problems -- all my options (Right/ Left Bumper, D-pad) all had no icons and no tracking on amount used. And movement was stammering all over the place, Wave 1 was a crapshoot. Someone dropped and connection immediately improved, but that meant we were down to 3 with me not knowing where my Proximity Mine button was!

As the match went on it became obvious that I spec'ed the Mines wrong, as the damage simply wasn't enough to keep the enemy down. Granted my employment was a bit crap since I was figuring it out.. But eventually got used to it sufficiently to work the game. Eventually we made it to Wave 10, holed up opposite to the Landing Zone. Atlas came running with 2 Phantoms, was familiar enough to land mines on the Atlas and eventually blew it up. Asari Adept stasis'ed a Phantom and we tore her apart, but an engineer got a turret set up and she separated to get angles onto the Atlas. But the two of us couldn't get to her, got overran by Troopers and then the other Phantom. We got taken apart piecemeal, Failure on Wave 10.

Tried again, White/ Reaper. Extra frustrating. Level 20 Vanguard who didn't want to have a team. Infiltrator with a Widow that I don't know what he was aiming at. Asari Vanguard who tried to do her job. Clownguard kept charging and nova'ing the mobs around the far end corner, which meant we couldn't get any firepower in. Trying indoors also didn't work because he'll just charge everything in sight. Two vanguards shaking the world was annoying.

Wave 10, objective cap. As I went past the doorway down, the Banshee came up. I upcapped a Cobra but missed the Banshee (think I got the rest of the Brutes and Ravager) and the Banshee had me for lunch. So I ghost'ed along my teammates.

Clownguard was capping an objective from time to time but basically: Charge-Nova-Charge-Nova.

Widow-filtrator was shooting at Cannibals.<_< He did tried to go against the Banshee.. having used the Widow, I know it can get the job done on Bronze. But he seriously wasn't making the effort.

Asari was doing what she can but dodging Banshee and a Brute didn't leave much room. Went down, medi-gel'ed, got up, ran around a bit more.

Eventually someone work up and capped the last point, then turned back to deal with the still-alive Banshee and Brute. You guessed it. Charge-Nova-Charge-Nova.

So. Not fun. I not talking about kill-steal or scoring (he outscored all of us), it's more like it's not even trying to be a team. It's not even allowing the team mates to contribute in any real sense. I think next time I see this kind of behaviour, I'll just skip the game. Sorry Vanguards. I know good team players Vanguards are out there, but I'm really not seeing many of those.

Anyhow, respec'ed, went back out to try. Giant/ Cerberus. Drell Vanguard, Asari Adept, think Turian Sentinels? Obviously out to play, were unleasing powers even between waves. Annoying when they shake the place so much, but otherwise they are competent. Very aggressive and goes after the enemy, I basically just ended up doing not much for the first few Waves until I integrated. Didn't really enjoy the game but it's not bad, getting to know Promixity mines better. Phaeston VII cut down an Atlas (after some help). Full extraction but damn close; Drell Vanguard cut it a bit close in getting back into the Zone.

Overall, do I think Promixity Mines is better? At Bronze, I actually think Concussive Shot is better, more utility, easier to target and track. Promixity needs to gauge distances correctly to utilize. I'm thinking of going both Promixity and Concussive Shot, since I don't really use Marksman anyway.

Played my Asari adept teamed with a Drell adept for the first time. Holy crap this was so fun. Constant fireworks everywhere as Reave + Throw have incredibly short cooldowns. We just teamed up and romped through the map. I think there was an infiltrator too doing who knows what, and a Salarian engineer with his decoy distracting the heavies. I think I died ilke twice.. one time was when a Banshee grabbed me from like 10 feet away wtf..

On leave today so got to game earlier. :)

Bought a bunch of Spectre+. Didn't get many Ultra-Rares, but did pull Revenant IX and Falcon IV. I know what a Revenant looks like, so let's go play with the Falcon. Respec the Turian Soldier to be a Grenadier, it's a cute build, Concussive Shot, Promixity Mine, Falcon. Yay for explosive AOE!

Dagger/ Cerberus. Eh this is cute. *Ping* *Pong* *CRUMP!* Oh forgot I have Promixity Mines too.. let's use THAT too!

Basically, lots of Cerbies bouncing around. Need to get used to the idea of the bouncy Falcon grenades but very tactically flexible.. was at the Evac Zone, bounced grenades into the long passageway by using the windows as a backboard. See a Centurion walk by?  *Ping* *Pong* No Centurion.. heh. Getting caught in the blast is no joke as several Phantoms got staggered in place by it. Easy follow ups. Atlas are tougher, but that's what Promixity Mines are for.

Heh, Turian Grenadiers.

Took a shine to the Falcon, so brought the Turian Soldier/ Grenadier out to play. Unfortunately, EA Server and my network didn't want to play. Many dropped hosts, many dropped connection. First shot of the game and I dropped.. wasted a lot of time.

Even though a lot of incomplete games, I still managed to get some experience in with Reactor and Ghost. Ghost is good for the Grenadier build; the long open areas are good for grenade fire and lots of things to bounce off. Reactor's not so good, too cluttered and the grenades tend to go all over the place. Still workable if you trash out a beaten zone ahead of time. Glacier was fun, but the angles and height of the ceiling made it harder to work with.

Managed to complete 2 games. The first was White/ Geth; White is ok; the team is decent but had a tendency to crowd and camp at the sniping spot. Should really spread out a bit more -- basically the usual PUG problem of not looking at the guns the rest are carrying. Hunters are a problem for the Falcon, because it's hard to hit. Full extraction, IIRC.

Dagger/ Cerberus is cute. Once in the Array Control, it became trivial to lay down mines on the open area spawn point between waves and start raining down grenades on top of just spawned enemies that way. Stagger-lock kept the enemies separated out so it became more trivial to deal with them. The layout of Dagger helps a lot as you are in an elevated position and there's plenty of objects to bounce grenades so that they go downwards -- bounced a grenade off a wall in the back to catch 2 Troopers in cover, staggering them out for easy kills.

Also strange when you realized Bioware did the texture map on Dagger such that the accordion-like structures on the short passage of the building is actually mapped and the grenades would get trapped between the folds and slide down.. can't bounce off the wall there. Had a lot of fun angle-bouncing the grenades so that I can clear a room without ever exposing myself in the doorway.

Falcon's "blank fire" is more a lag issue as the system is trying to figure out where the grenade is. I find in long range fire it's less of an issue, it's when you get into a short-ranged cluster-fight and you're bouncing grenades everywhere that the blank fire kicks in more (it's also where you depend on the firepower more, so it's more noticeable). Only real problem I have with the Falcon is the low ammo count.. running out is normal, so the build is quite ammo-box dependent.

Team's sensible, Quarian Infiltrator with Widow, A Turian Sentinel I think, and a VanClownguard. The 'Guard isn't too bad but has a tendency to charge off and die on his lonesome. Too much guts, too little Fitness. A little too happy with the Cobra too, it appears. Partial Extraction, because the Quarian was too busy playing with her Widow.
